We had a problem with printing from iMacs a little while ago. Seemed to be very random where some machines would just not print. Spent hours on it, delving into CUPS and getting professional help in but to no avail. Then I suddenly had a eureka moment when I realised the problem workstations all had Impero on. Uninstalling it fixed the issue instantly. Seems to be quite common now, whenever there's an issue, look to the badly managed Impero!

Hi manamaga2512, Had a similar problem recently. I think I tracked it down to the protocol used when adding the printer. I will have a look when I'm at work tomorrow

This started happening after we upgraded to version 4.1.26. The latest version is currently 4.2.19. Although we were told that we could not update to the latest version as there was a problem with client automatic updating in future versions, which meant we have to update all clients to 4.1.26 before updating further! Looking through the update logs, there's nothing that mentions this fault specifically, but I'm sure they've been made aware and fixed this previously (you'd hope!).

Hi Joe, Not sure if it's linked or not but we've been having almost exactly the same problem. Not sure about if it happens when the clock changes but it could well be. We're not sure exactly what it is yet but it seemed to coincide with updating our Impero clients. I haven't looked into it any further yet as we haven't had any complaints. Ring any bells?

I had a similar issue recently where the home share wasn't appearing on the dock, not sure if this is the same problem? The fix was to change the settings in the directory utility under Active Directory and check the "Create mobile account" option. Hope this helps!

Hi all, Long time reader, first time poster (I think!). I'm interested in how everyone has their Mac network setup as I'm not sure we have ours setup as efficiently as it could be. We use workgroup manager to apply dock settings, login items, proxy settings etc. On login, there is an app set to run, which is a script created by a former member of staff which maps the user's home drive on the desktop. SLT have all got MacBooks and I ran into a problem where when one of them took one home, it applied the proxy settings even after turning them off. I discovered the problem was that the file created by workgroup manager was still applying even without the options ticked. As a result, at the minute the MacBook's are only connected to AD and not OD, but we need to deploy apps to them soon and I was going to use Profile Manager which I presume I can't do as they're not currently connected to OD? The last problem is, as the app to map home directories is set to run at login, this gives an error when at home as it can't connect! So, there must be better ways to have these setup to work, what are yours?
