  1. I did do some research into this which quickly became useless due to us moving MIS! The classes generated via SDS use the class ID from your MIS. Assuming you will be using the same classes next year but with different students, SDS should keep the existing class Teams and just change the teachers and students in them. This is all in theory as I’ve never actually rolled over to a new academic year, at least not while classes were being used in Teams!
  2. We’re moving early in January so I’ll let you know! I’ve said I want to start from scratch for the majority but any websites we’ve unblocked using tagging can be easily transferred over apparently. As for the rest, I’ll be finding out soon!
  3. For us it was one of the technicians mistaking DHCP and DNS and deleting almost all of our DNS records. While the entries were repopulating I noticed every strange entries in Unifi with wrong hostnames and duplicated IPs. It sorted itself out once it had fully repopulated.
  4. We had something similar but it was a DNS issue on the DC that was to blame, nothing to do with Unifi. That’s where I would start. Check scavenging etc
  5. There is a way of increasing the number of SSIDs to 8 per group but the option you need to change to do it escapes me at the minute. If anyone is interested I will find out.
  6. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions. I've finally discovered and fixed the issue and thought I'd post here just in case it happens to anyone else. We use DirectAccess here and one of the deleted DNS entries was for the DirectAccess network location server (directaccess-NLS). This meant all mobile devices with DirectAccess enabled tried to connect to the NLS and couldn't so tried to connect to DirectAccess. When trying to connect to any resources it was using DirectAccess's dns servers which it couldn't connect to because the devices were on-site. My massive headache has now lifted!
  7. I admit, it was a bad idea. The scope option were already set similarly to yours anyway (just the third tickbox down not ticked) but I matched them up. Unfortunately the issue remains! The DNS entry has created now though, but I still can't contact any network resources.
  8. Hi Fazza, I've already rebooted both DC's which are also the DHCP servers to no avail. I've enabled the log in event viewer and the error message given when pinging is "DNS Name resolution for the name, [DC], failed because the client was unable to contact DNS servers. At least one of the interfaces is not in a private network and name resolution will not fall back to LLMNR or NetBIOS"
  9. This morning we had an issue where there were no IP addresses left in a particular DHCP scope. I explained to my tech that he needed to delete all the leases and this would free up the redundant addresses for some computers that were getting 169 addresses. Unfortunately, the tech went into DNS and deleted almost every entry in our domain (barring servers). Since then, our devices have lost connectivity to all our local resources. Thankfully, staff data is mostly on Office365 now so they can still access them. Unfortunately MIS access has gone along with other local storage. I have a feeling that it's going to be more of a waiting game for this issue to fix itself, but I won't be able to rest all weekend in the hope that this will work on Monday morning! DHCP is assigning addresses with no problem, but the DNS entry isn't being created. If I add it in manually then it doesn't work either. If I nslookup any servers from clients, they come back fine. If I try and ping then the host cannot be found. Please help!
  10. I’m not at a computer at the minute, but browse to the SharePoint site, go to the documents section, open up developer tools in your browser and click the “sync” button. All the details you need will be part of that link that shows up in the console/network view of developer tools. Incidentally, we developed a little program that takes the users email from AD to complete the odopen link so we can leave shortcuts for staff to open curriculum areas etc. Since putting some work into this, I realised that areas mapped with drive letters aren’t necessary. As long as staff have their areas listed down the left in explorer, everyone’s happy.
  11. Looks familiar yeah, if I remember correctly the steps were slightly different as they are for an older model.
  12. Forgot to mention, happy to dig out the documentation I used if useful
  13. We returned about 30 Ricoh devices during the last summer holidays and before they were returned, I went through the menu on each one and securely wiped them. There was a number of options on them to choose from depending on how secure you wanted the wipe to be. Left it for a few hours and that was it. Unless something has drastically changed since then, it’s a matter of course to wipe each device before returning them surely?
  14. We've just moved each Curriculum area from our shared staff drive to Office 365 groups and replaced the files with a shortcut to sync the group. The shortcut is a little Visual Basic program that picks up the user's email address from AD and completes the link odopen://sync/?siteId=SiteID_HERE&webId=WebID_HERE&listId=ListID _HERE&userEmail=UserEmail_HERE&webUrl=WebURL_HERE" for each group. Seems to be working really well.
  15. I have indeed. I think I must've migrated 50 or so staff members, no issues. I've also used Lieben's tools in the past to good effect previous to the Microsoft tool.
  16. Not the migrator tool. The author himself admits that the tool I suggested negates the need for his. New Sharepoint Migration Tool | Liebensraum
  17. I’m not sure what you want to know. All the instructions are in that link. Download the tool here: https://hrcppestorageprod.blob.core.windows.net/migrationtool/default.htm, then it’s just a case of logging in with admin details, fill in the csv file and away you go.
  18. DirectAccess for accessing shared areas. We also encourage anyone with a staff laptop to use OneDrive instead. With files on demand (available with 1709), this saves on drive space if it's a concern. Next step is moving shared drives on to SharePoint and find a way of connecting to these automatically........
  19. Do you mean to transfer user's network areas to their OneDrive's? If so, the SharePoint migration tool is what you're looking for. https://support.office.com/en-gb/article/how-to-use-the-sharepoint-migration-tool-65462df1-42fe-40cf-88f7-e39f82f5130f?ui=en-US&rs=en-GB&ad=GB
  20. I second this. Free delivery on any order and will more often than not give you their best offer first time instead of these other suppliers miraculously wiping off a few pound per unit here and there when you say they’ve been beaten! Good honest and reliable suppliers are few and far between these days. Also, anyone that feels the need to call me every other week asking me if there’s “anything coming up?” will quickly find themselves on my blacklist!

  22. Hi Geezersoft, Yes, you do configure the VLANs in the controller software, but I'm talking about the switch configuration. Thanks James, that confirms my suspicions. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something simple.
  23. Evening all, We are currently in the process of replacing or HP MSM wireless network with a Ubiquiti solution. With the HP's, it's my understanding that all of the traffic goes through the controllers, so this is where the VLANs are tagged for the wireless networks. When I have created new SSIDs in the past, I have tagged the relevant VLAN on the controller port and it's worked fine. Am I correct in thinking for the Ubiquiti Unifi APs each AP switch port will have to have relevant ports tagged instead? With 101 access points, this is going to take some time. I'm also thinking that if anyone new networks are added in the future, I would have to tag the new VLAN on each port again if this is the case? Or am I missing something? Thanks
  24. We're currently looking at this a replacement for Show My Homework. I really like it and it's a fraction of the price. It's being trialled at the moment. The only downside is parent integration. I know that it's coming but Show My Homework is great for it and I worry it will be the stumbling block for us. I have asked if we can bulk import parent details so they get an email when homework is set. Can I ask if you have a solution? Have you managed to get SDS setup to sync automatically? I believe I've got it figured out in my head, just haven't got round to implementation yet!
  25. Again, I'm the opposite. Been with Impero for a number of years now but I'm fed up with what I can only describe as amateur programming. Every time they release an update, it breaks something else. I've honestly lost count with the amount of times this has happened. I reported a problem almost a year ago to be told that they were aware and it would be fixed. To my knowledge, this still hasn't been done. There is also a problem with the server window flashing. The fix? Delete a file in the program files folder. Why has this still not been fixed! It astounds me the amount of companies out there that get away with this behaviour. We have your money now, we don't care! Anyway, where were we?
