  1. Hello Can you redirect the temp Internet files and cookies in a man profile. Will it work if I redirect them in the registery to the users network drive eg h:\my setting\ folder name. Also once you make a change in the ntuser.man you get extra files within the man root folder named ntuser{467313 and lots of numbers. Is it safe to delete them as well as the .log file within the man folder mark
  2. hello I have a problem with office install var gpo, It works on very few machines, it seems to deploy ok but then never install its self. the mscoche folder is in the root of c it a bit random and nothing appears in the event log but it works on some machines anything i can do to force the install from the mscoche? mark

  4. Hi guys we have 2 different domains within the school, admin and curriculum. Our exchange server is on the curriculum. i have plug a network cable in the back of the mail server hoping that i can get the clients to use outlook 07 on the admin side. the admin side can ping and and see the exchange server. there mail box accounts are on the curriculum side so they will auth using there curriculum credentials. any advice

  6. yeah if you dont mind. do you run office 2007? if so do you have to open all the office apps before sending it to the server? also what redirection do you use do you edit it in the registry ir gpos mark
  7. hi i have been reading a lot on here about profiles, i want to use profiles but I am a little confussed on what the best type is. i want to use them for students and staff, but i want login times kept down. not to sure whats best really. any advice?
  8. hi guys am i missing somthing our dc are 2008 server and laptops are xp sp3. I have seen in the gpmc a setting for adding a wireless network i have selected a new xp policy and selected wpa2, but there is no were to put the password. can any one suggest how i roll out the wpa2 settings to my wireless clients mark

  11. A full install using gpo install. In general thow is there a part of the system were users need access in order for the windows installer to config a program
  12. Nope brand new profiles. Could be a permission on the local workstation? What does and were does the installer access were in the workstations do windows installer access that they might need full control. Or a user.
  13. hi guys i have a problem with office 2007 with users, after a reboot when a user logins office 2007 always wants to run the windows installer to configure office. all users use man profiles, and i have done this in the man profile, i have open all the office programs then renamed the the ntuser to .man. when the user logs off and logs in its fine but a reboot losses that config and windows installer starts up again. what am i missing here? as i need to stop this from happening. mark

  15. hi guys i have set all staff for man profiles, i also have redirected there app data folder as well, however when i login as a memeber of staff always get the outlook 2007 start and configure your mail box, we run it exchange 07 so it goes through but is there a way of stopping it so once the user has done it once they will never have to do it again. mark

  17. Hi we are just moving users data over to a new network. I need to copy the student users work areas over now. However I get errors while trying to copy some folders eg folder lenght too long etc .... Can any recommend me a program that will just copy all these folders and files across and also skip any errors that appear. I don't need to retain any permissions as students get new logins to the new domain. Thanks.
  18. hi guys we have a hp procurve at the core and some at the edge network, they both talking fine they all have stp enabled, when i ping the switch i get a response within 1ms when i have join our old netgear 7224 to the main switch i get random repsonses back from the netgear switches, now these were fine in till we installed the the hp core switch. any ideas mark
  19. hi guys coming from a RM back ground were all the software restrictions are setup for you, we now are moving away from RM and we have got to setup software restrictions on a 2008 server xp client setup i was woundering what people do as a default when setting up software restrictions policys. I want one just to cover all pc's and laptops. what do you allow to run by default and block by default? thanks mark

Hi Guys is there way of rolling out changes across the network to edit the context-menu explorer. when a student right clicks in there my document, they get stuff like new, folder, shortcut etc... I only really want them to see new, folder and nothing really else. Is there a away of doing this? dont really want to disable the context-menu. thanks mark
  22. spaces, hhhmmm well i did try the favorites path that has spaces in it, ill try tomorrow with a new folder called settings and see if it takes it.
  23. sorry may be i havent been clear, i dont want to rename the app data folder i want to store it under a user home dir under a folder called my settings, this is also were i got there favorites pointing to as well
