Not sure from your post if you still have Frog, but it's possible to do host these sort of pages in Froglearn with a call to their Service Desk.

Has anyone any experience with Corel Videostudio? Video Software - VideoStudio X8 Family We've got Premiere Pro CC and I love it, but it's too pricey for site-wide or even a classroom. I also have a copy of Premiere Elements and found it really frustrating to edit with. I had a copy of Pinnacle 10+ years ago and it was terrible (crashy and glitchy) and the Amazon reviews for the latest version suggest it's no better. The Amazon reviews for Corel seemed pretty decent though. So, back to my original question - Has anyone used this?

We've got Frog and the staff seem to love it. A few also use Google Classroom, but personally, I find you have to have the will to tinker with it, to get what you want (like a lot of Google products). We have some staff to couldn't achieve even basic use without a lot of training. My 'issue' with Classroom is not so much the product (which is developing and improving almost daily) but with the excess enthusiasm some staff showed towards it in the early days. Originally students had to enrol in the course (at least now they can be pre-signed up), so from a classroom management point of view, it's can be a challenge to get past even that hurdle. The document assignment (from a student POV) still makes it unclear which document they've downloaded and which they've uploaded. Plus it's not dynamically linked to the MIS - so you've got to put a bit of work into sorting that out by going round the houses. We have 2-3 student changes a week here, you can't rely on manual systems for updating classes. All these issues aren't a problem for the tech-savvie teacher, but really cause headaches for the non-IT-comfortable teacher. For me, Classroom is an excellent tool, but it's not a replacement VLE.

I was sceptical at first when we switched, but the teachers love it. They find it so much easier to create and edit lesson plans. We too run Frog3, which does seem to be an easier management system. Plus we run a mobile site through Frog3 - something you can't do solely in FrogLearn yet. As far as the students and teachers are concerned, they only know they're in Frog. Discover search was a big thumbs up from the SLT and being able to set file extensions has been a plus since it came on board. Don't know if you've seen it yet, but FrogProgress has the potential to completely change assessment systems.

Bossman is not wrong though. If he accidently knacks Frog, then it's the SLT's fault and will cost a lot more to fix. I know it's an expensive SLA but I'm surprised at their decision. We use Frog way too much to take a chance like this.

I would say take a look at Frog. Their primary VLE is pretty good now (I beleive - have only seen demos) Full disclosure though, we're a Frog school but our primaries all use NorTLE. It's a north-east based custom VLE. The primaries love it as it has a lot of products like 2Simple integrated - which has clever publish to website options for submitted work. We have an Up! plus 2. It's really reliable. I think they have become so much better, now we're into the second generation of consumer models. I'd definitely say go for it. We've been printing all sorts for different departments. Word of warning though, find a quiet room* for it to sit in. If you use ABS (?) the smell can build up and feels toxic, even if it isn't. We have a small room next to our office and it sits in there with the paper trimmer and the laminator. * Sometimes the paper trim (which is this horrible pneumatic thing) can shake the model loose.

Another vote for Planet eStream. We had our own solution based on Windows Media Server and WMVs. When we switched to Chrome browsers, WMVs won't play. Faced with converting 2000+ videos, we bought Planet eStream and everything converted and usable almost overnight. It's not just about the file size, you've also got to take into account file organisation, conversion, staying up-to-date with latest standards (H265 will soon start being everywhere), ease of use for end user etc... Planet eStream isn't cheap, but it's totally worth the money

Hi Just got an email from Britannica, their product looks quite good: Britannica School | Encyclopaedia Britannica Encyclopaedia Britannica But they fail to mention a cost. Always suspicious. Does anyone have this and can you tell me their pricing model? I know I can call them, but can't be bothered with a sales pitch if they cost too much. WebBot

UPDATE: I spotted that I was signed into the browser on Chrome (in the brwosers settings). When I signed out and restarted the browser - suddenly it worked. I tried a few variations, I could even re-sign in, but if I have a Google Account window open (Gmail, Drive or profile) the Autism page will not load. I can't find any security options connected to my Google account, so looks like the path of least resistance is still to create a browser detection page. That way staff will be able to access the training materials always. Bizarre issue though.

I'm sure it must be something silly. Trouble is, I didn't go looking for this problem, it was reported to me. I'm thinking my easiest "solution" might to point the link to a browser detection page. If the browser is Chrome, it could display instructions to use IE and provide the link as text. If IE, it could redirect. At least in the short term, until I find an actual solution. It was my colleague on her computer, but our PCs are standalone - not RMed, so accounts shouldn't matter. Our intranet copy doesn't work for her either.

That's it, but it's not loading in Chrome for me. Works in IE. I wonder if that means it's a firewall setting? Just got a colleague to check and the link you sent works for her in Chrome but not me.....? Thanks - guess i have to keep digging

Hi guys, Tearing my hair out here, hoping someone can help. Years ago, I was asked to put 4 DVD-Roms from the DCSF onto our intranet. They are SEN training materials, built by the University of Birmingham and are written using the worst kind javascript + frames + includes. They barely worked in IE, but we've since switched to Chrome and one of them just won't play. The DVD-Rom in question is "Inclusion Development Programme: Supporting pupils on the autism spectrum" from 2009. I've searched the materials for contact details but no luck. Does anyone else host this material and display it through Chrome? And if you, how did you get it to work? Another school locally had similar issues with their version back in 2009 and it turned out their DVD was incomplete. So, I'm wondering if everyone who got a copy, got a different version and if someone has it working, then maybe I just need new files.

We painted a room in Dublin Bay Green 3 from B&Q. Some low heat lights from NewLand Media and use an Edirol LVS400 to do the keying. To get a PC background, we use an Canopus TwinPact which converts VGA to S-Video. And to capture the analogue signal into a PC we use an Canopus ADVC-100. The process is all SD and we use an SD camcorder's analogue output. The Studio was put in 5 years ago and still works well. Because it's all hardware, there's no software updates to worry about and we use both Premiere Pro and MovieMaker to do the capturing. While it's not HD, to be honest the work from the students isn't broadcast quality either. This way we are able to churn out video clips really, really quickly that are good quality - just not broadcast quality. Breckdown: Lights: £800 Edirol: £700 Canopus Twinpact: £300 Canopus ADVC100: £150 Camcorder: £300 Paint: £50 Compared to the lovely NewTek Tricaster (£8000) it was an absolute bargain. After a meet-share-learn Frog day a month ago, I was convinced. We're gearing up to switch in September. It's not perfect, but it's closer than before and Frog 3 has never been perfect. PM me and I'll do a screenshare if you like.

Just thought I'd follow up. We got a deal on an UP in the end. it's absolutely brilliant. Very easy to use an good quality prints. I'd recommend this model to anyone. Graham

We're in a secondary school and got a 3D printer three weeks ago. It's an UP! Plus 2 and it's fantastic. Really easy to use. If your kids can handle sketchup, they can design for it. There are more basic tools, like the 123 iPad, which creates 3D models from their 2D sketches, if that's more age appropriate. Webbot

Hi everyone, I've got a bit of a windfall in the budget right now and am interested in getting a 3D Printer. Our construction department already has a MakerBot Replicator Duo and I'm not overly impressed. It seems to spend a lot of its time out of action. I know the teacher who uses it has also spent a lot time calibrating it. Being in the web design department, 3D printing is a little outside my remit, but I've done a lot with 3D software and have managed to print some things on the MakerBot. So, that's the history. Basically I want something in the office that's low maintenance and easy to use. Which brings me to the Cube and the UP! Plus 2. At BETT this year, GoPrint3D warned me off the Cube, but the UP! is £300+ more. In terms of the sort of things I'll be printing (hotshoe adaptors, mobile phone stands etc...) the smaller printing size is fine. Has anyone experience with either printer? And does anyone have any preference for either? Thanks webbot
