If the new campus will be the same domain I’d go the dc promo route. Dhcp will not replicate Dns will replicate if it is an AD integrated zone; which it should be. Join the new server to the current setup Dc promo so it begins replicating Transfer FSMO roles to new server Dc promo the old server to demote it as a DC However I recommend at least two DC’s if you can manage it. Perhaps skip demoting the old server and only transfer a few FSMO roles so they share the load. Good luck

As said above it is trying to move the files to the same location. I think now is a good time for you to implement DFS name spaces. Then when you change servers you do not need to update the GPO. I moved all of the user data files to a new server this summer and just updated the DFS target, it worked well.

Hi all, I’ve done some more testing since the next version came out and was able to reproduce the problem. This issue happens if chrome tries to update while a user has the application open. To get around this I changed the program to a script install and created a batch file to kill chrome before calling the MSI. I hope this helps someone else who gets this error. Thanks

I am using the enterprise MSI and I am deploying to the machine. FN-GM are you using a package or application? I used an application. This is only happening on some machines, I haven't found a pattern yet.

Hello all, I switched from deploying my chrome updates via GPO to using SCCM. After I deployed the application several users are getting prompted with UAC each time they open chrome. If the user clicks no on the UAC prompt the old version of chrome is launched. When I enter the admin credentials the new version is launched and they are no longer prompted with UAC. Any advice for redeploying this properly so users are not prompted? Thank you,

Thanks @Gatt I think I have a handle on the software updates now, any idea on the inventoried software issue? Now I am trying to figure out application deployments and uninstalls. I plan on removing Sophos after endpoint protection is installed. It is a four step uninstall, Msiexec /x product code of remote management /qn Msiexec /x product code of auto update /qn Msiexec /x product code of patch management /qn Msiexec /x product code of anti-virus /qn I’ve tried adding them is different programs in a package and got the error bad environment. The next step will be looking at creating application dependencies so running one calls the others. I’m coming from PDQ deploy where I could run a command, or an installer, have multiple steps to a package, install or uninstall etc. I’m working with SCCM because of the new MS licensing, but PDQ was easier. Will SCCM provide the flexibility the PDQ did once I get it setup properly and understand the work flows? Thanks,

Hello all, I’m setting up SCCM for the first time and have a couple questions / issues. First I’m trying to understand the software updates, how to I go about approving updates and only approving updates that are actually needed? Previously I had WSUS to only download updates that were approved, then each month I’d approve the needed updates. Everything I have read on SCCM 2012 wants me to setup an automatic deployment rule to get all the updates from patch Tuesday. I only want to get the updates that are needed in my environment and approve them. Any advice on this? Second, is software inventory, I’m getting these errors on the client inventory agent log. InventoryVersionNumber for '{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000002}' not found. This is the main reason I never implemented full disk encryption. I typically connect the drive to a USB caddy was well to pull data. Something to try the next time is a disk image. Boot into a live CD and copy the entire disk to the server an decrypt there. This would hopefully save the drive just a bit if it was failing.

I have light speed here to, and it was blocked by my normal settings. I was testing getting flash content to the ipads and allowed their IP range through. When I discovered the proxy like behavior I blocked it again. Three items we have ticked are, block unknown urls, filter non http by IP, and block p2p. I think puffin fell under one of these three. I don’t recall associating them to race as a child, and I’ve never watched it as an adult. I don’t think the white ranger was one of the original, it was red, blue, black, pink and yellow. So what race does the blue ranger represent? The originals were the best. I never liked the second rangers, or the second turtles.

When I go to Latest participated I get posts from a week ago. When I go to favourites Topics I get posts I participated in today. I realize I can subscribe / favourite a topic without participating so there should be a difference in the two lists. The favourite list is showing both topics I have subscribed to and those I have actively participated in, which is correct behaviour. The latest all and latest unread are current, the last post under latest participated is from the 1st. It is not a big deal to me because I can use favourites but thought you would like to know. Google Apps Directory Sync - Google Apps Help Google Apps Password Sync - Google Apps Help One gotcha to look out for is sharing to a group doesn’t put the document in their document list. You will want to tick the box to notify by email, or post the link somewhere. After they click the link it shows up in the list. I created a google site with help info and posted the link there for the info I shared, others just use the email notification. The issue with email notification is new accounts will not have the email, so the link makes it simpler depending on the nature of the document. This was my experience a few years ago, maybe it has changed. Create a few test groups and experiment.

@timtom If you've not done so yet, now is a good time to setup DFS Distributed File System I am currently copying the student drives to a different server, and once it's done I'll just update the server target in DFS. The path stays the same to the end user, no need to update it in AD.

Do you mean windows 7 to 8, or 8 to 8.1? Personally I think windows 8 is good on the desktop, I'm in the start menu very little. Professionally it's not there yet, to many management issues that 8.1 is supposed to correct. Have a search on here, you will find a lot of opinions on the matter. Windows 8 has been a love it or hate it topic.

Similar here boredguy, I used to use a vbs but converted to powershell a couple years ago. A scheduled export of student data from our SIS + scheduled run of said script = AD / email accounts automagically created 1 day after enrollment.

I'm thinking @Little-Miss had something to do with it.
