Well back in the day I looked at this as an admissions package. Then, it looked like an access database. Didn't give it a second thought. Of course, you have the issue of getting the data into iSAMS so as not to have to do what my school was doing: manual entry. We were going to SIMS and just shelled out on R&A within SIMS. Is the isams portal really not up to the task here (surprises me given it is an independent sector application). Having said all that this was several years ago!

Seriously need to look into getting a box again just to have this!

+1 for all said above, doesn't really need a course just some practice and guidance. Even now when I don't done it in 3 years, quick search for what the combination is and then can get on!

Pleased with how much we have raised so far!

I will run this through the support and development teams today, anything worth mentioning on this issues I will report back. Thanks for highlighting this. Graham

They responded well to the survey so you should be able to find some decent info on them (Ta Matt for the appropriate plug). I have a slight quibble with them, in that when I asked them least year about the market and their competitors, their stand rep only knew of Capita SIMS... thinking they were the only competition in the market Edit: To clarify, my angry man isn't that it was Capita, plenty of respect for them... it could have been anyone! It is the pure lack of knowledge or respect for the market not to have done some research!

http://www.edugeek.net/forums/mis-systems/131286-mis-challenge-market-analysis.html I'm barred from pointing you to the resource directly, but all your choices are detailed here. Where is @matt40k when you need him for a crafty plug I know you will be looking for opinions too, but this should be a good start.

Time for some update photos soon!

Product pricing was and is always based upon extensive market research to ensure it is prices appropriately, not whatever Groupcall want There is competition out there, perhaps not for all the composite parts together in one application, but there are certainly attendance taking apps, student details access apps, behaviour monitoring apps. I suspect if you buy them all individually, they come in at around the same if not more... So my question then becomes, in what is going to quickly become a race to the bottom, what do you feel is an appropriate and importantly FAIR price?

Not quite what Microsoft told me in a meeting yesterday?

Are we all ready to have a really close shave at 11.59pm tonight lads?
-
Surely if that was of concern it should be free all the more? Cut a certain product out of the market altogether.

Do I smell or something or did you just decide to ignore my pertinent question Nick? One I am sure everyone on the forum wants to know!

Stuart, has anything been released yet about how much Teacher App costs or is going to cost schools. I had an interesting chat with an LA contact this morning about the market in general and got weirdly onto what is hot at BETT this year... of course Teacher App came up!

New! DfE Guidance: Cloud software services and the Data Protection Act
GREED replied to elsiegee40's topic in Cloud Services
Read it... read it again... then laughed at how little actual advice there is for schools. I'm not surprised at all. It is a cheap cheap micro framework for the government to put a rubber stamp on a long standing issue without spending anything. Someone tell me that this puts to bed all the issues that circulate around cloud, data, privacy, security, procurement... That said, wait and see all the providers of any sort of cloud services scramble to complete their certification! -
@vikpaw The support desk have had a look and will be in contact with you to resolve.

I will do what I can

Whilst I respect opinions and feelings on growing one, the point really is if you don't normally have one you will look out of place to raise awareness. I look awful!! lol However, donations are very much appreciated so thank you!
