'These' third party apps can do exactly this, with no need for printing registers or any real prep - just have logged into the app relatively recently (once a week?). You get a lot more than registers too...

You know what, I actually cannot be bothered for the money it would get once fees all gone. The money is a token amount really I want it to go to a good home where kids will use it. The local one that I work with has too many as it is, otherwise would already be there. My project was just to play with it, find out how it worked and get to know the different things you can do with it... unfortunately very quickly ran out of time to play with properly. -

Indeed, long awaited Markbook write back will be available in the March release. But I would be interested to know, when you have had a chance to play with the new release, if the other features add real value too (as it leads to the second point!) Which include Fire Registers, improved behavior and achievement recording processes, dinner money registers (for primary schools obviously!), and our Emergency 'Help Me' feature to alert staff in the school to come help you in an emergency... funnily enough! I really wish I could say more and tell you where Emerge is going in the next year you will love it... but both the Mods, and my Director would shoot me! My reasons for saying this is, regarding price, Capita are in a great position because you are already paying them money for SIMS let alone SLG so they can afford to take a hit on TeacherApp for you... and why shouldn't they it is like an extra module when it comes down to it. Perfectly acceptable and would expect nothing less. I would love to say Emerge can drop to that low low figure but in a race to the bottom Capita will win every time (reasons above). Emerge is competitive to the standard TeacherApp price, in fact within pounds now, and depending on the options appropriate to your school numbers, both TeacherApp and Emerge can be very reasonable price wise. Kudos to Capita for making the market even more competitive, a bonus for schools! Kudos all round really it is definately worth checking it out exactly as you have done here, competition really is great we love it because it forces better and better products to come to market... win win for schools! But I'll leave with the question: is it all about price or would you pay a 'perceived' premium for the extra features, better features or a more stable and reliable product? Answers on a postcard!

No, like something that doesn't sound tone for tone like everything they have done in the past 6 years. -

[news] Woman says she was fired via Twitter (before starting job)
GREED replied to abillybob's topic in Jokes/Interweb Things
The point very much is that twitter unless you lock it down (which most do not) is visible to anyone and everyone quite easily. I would argue that FB comments are less of an issue because it is more common and accepted to completely lock your profile down to all but friends, the dinner party analogy. I'm no legal expert and you may know more but is hear say and he said she said as easy to put forward in court as evidence? Compared to physical proof like a recording or a typed tweet? The point is twitter IS like shouting from the rooftops, not all social media is like that. Yet it does not get away from the fact that regardless of where it is said, it is dtechnically defamation. We are all suggesting employers have no rights and the employee can say anything they like. Yes they can, freedom of speech and all that... but what sort of outcry would there be if the roles were reversed and the company was public ally bad mouthing one of their employees? There are some fine balances and society is adjusting to what is acceptable to say to who and where. My question would be: would you bad mouth your employer on twitter? -

Good point well made there. Fair. -

It is the way the world has evolved. Just like 15 years ago most job processes evolved to asking and even checking you can use a computer, Word and Excel... Have to say I am still confused that there is ambiguity around bad mouthing your company in public and thinking that the employer should just accept it... just because it was said online and not with a megaphone in the city centre... -

It's not an alternative, it is another way of checking up on you. But we are talking here about the employment process... OP was about shouting abuse online and thinking there are no consequences because you typed it not spoke it... -

Why why why why why... why do people still assume that saying something online in an open forum is any different to shouting it loudly in front of your family/friends/ex/boss/most hated adversary... seriously!!!! -
Keep your thanks then :-D

Let's clarify lest I remove my thanks... :-D

Ummmmm... Really? Only a small minority of schools across the country have implemented Active Directory? Are you sure this is what you meant to say @PhilNeal ? Or do you mean Azure AD?
