Just come in from helping out at a North-West Gifted and Talented event at my wife's school where a teacher was working with a group of 4 or 5 Year1/2 children doing their version of a Gruffalo story (we had Truffalo,Smellao,Blobalo etc) using stop-go animation. Even the teachers who couldn't spell IT were able to lead their groups in producing 2 or more scenes and importing them into IMovie to add in a narration with 30 mins training. Yes but for £400 you can get quite a lot of Lego Some of the apps I've seen are great - the integration of the stop animation/video editor beats my netbook combination of Helium Frog/Win Mov Maker hands down - but its not twice as good but it is twice the price and my netbook can view/run anything on the web. I just think not being able to view/use a fair percentage of the web fully is a real shame in what otherwise is a lovely device. Its like having a merc instead of an astra and not being allowed to drive on dual-carriage ways Si

Well, I can use it to post on edugeek how useless it is for web browsing It's got a nice stop motion capture app and a simple video editor but I'm going to need some office type app as well Simon

It looks like number of manufacturers are adding there own code to enable at least a basic proxy function. It still leaves mr google as the bad boy for not having it in the core OS Simon

Don't laugh/cry Thye still use this version in one of my schools but I can't get it to run on a Win7 Home Premium machine Just in case someone somewhere has managed to do this .... - please let me know :)O Ta Simon

Just to add my 2pennies worth. Domino got me onto CyanogenMod CM6 and I liked a lot of the features (such as cramming more icons on my home screen and ability to use a proxy without having to shout into the phone ) Once I'd repartioned it using AlphaRev, you get a ton of room for apps without having to mess around with ext3 on your sd card. I moved on CM7 but due to bugs with GPS and the fact that the CyanogenMod team have moved onto getting Android 2.3.4 out and have stopped bug fixing CM7.0.3, I moved back to CM6 which does eveything I want/need. Well I've installed it (BTW tried installing XAMPP and the Xibo server on a win7 pro 64bit machine but it wouldn't work so put them on an XP machine instead) I've not done anything with it but has anyone else actually got a dynamic calendar working with it (so school sec can update it from her machine and have it update on the client machine in the staff room)? regards Simon

I've been playing with an IPad and found it doesn't seem to work with Java (as well as not working with Flash) or have I missed something? Simon

VC is great when its setup and works - one of my schools used the CLEO/JANET setup with polycom which gave good quality - getting a VC conf setup and working was like the original days of telephone calls to overseas - e.g ring operator, tell them who you want, do a test call on a Monday and pray all the wires get connected in the right places for the real call on Tuesday But at least you don't have to fight the CLEO firewall/poxy server. Using something like Adobe connect/Skype usually requires bypassing it but not too hard nowadays if prepared to stick a 3G dongle into a machine for the session Si

Just came to this again and I've found in V3.2 the DataPath.txt file is now held in C:\Program Files\CEM\ePIPS 2011\Prefs if you need to copy settings from one machine to another. regards Simon

One of my (Primary) schools has just got a 52in plasma for the staffroom for Wimbeldon (I mean as a digital signage system ) Its to replace the weekly board so the main function needed is to be able to display a calendar (I'm thinking a google online one) which auto updates when the school sec alters it. On my third Win7 machine now This ones a desktop plugged into Lan. On switch on - it searched for IP - didn't seem to get one and came up with little yellow warning triangle on the net connect icon. I've spent last 30 mins, swapping conections/cables to find that its actually being given an IP by the server and the network/internet actually works even though if I hover over the icon - its says - No Internet! What the flip's going on???? Si

This is a home premium machine. To get it to install,i went into Control Panel, compatibility troubleshooter and ran the setup as win xp sp3 with additional permissions. It seems to have installed ok. Regards simon
