I'm trying to adapt my WPKG packages/scripts/bat files to work on Win7 machines but my automated methods are being halted by WIn7 asking for permissions. Has anyone battled their way through this one - if so hints and tips welcome for instance id="office2003" name="Microsoft Office 2003" revision="1" reboot="false" notify="false" priority="100"> Is asking for permission to run pro11.msi can I wrap something around it to prevent this? regards Simon

I just ordered 7 desktops (Win7 Pro) to replace all the teacher desktops at a school and just unwrapped the first one to start my journey into setting it up and getting all the old software (inc Blackcat SUper Tools!!!!!!!) that the school "needs" But...inside the box there is an XP Pro "downgrade" DVD! Do I say a quick thank you to the Gods and install it or bite the bullet and stick with Win7? Simon

I work in primaries - a lot of primary software has been moved from CDs to the cloud (or still runs on CDs). Almost 100% of this stuff requires flash/java so being bored by the IPad not running it is not a luxury that can be indulged in. 3S-gtech has put it plainly - just a bit more work (IMO - in the UI and possibly in the processor power dept) and win tablets will hit the cliff (at the bottom and run up them ) Doesn't quite ring true when you won't touch a windows machine with a bargepole nowadays I remember seeing one of leaders posting something about his lovely MacBook running like a dog nowadays -bloat is not confined to any OS - my 'droid phone is full of stuff I don't use but it still works (Just) Si

I'm starting to think the MS will soon clean up in the pad/tablet department within education. IPads wont/dont run Flash/Java so quite a bit of educational software is unavailable to it. 'droid tablets don't have working proxy support (Well maybe 1 has but not yet really proven). Both of them won't run legacy Win software or integrate easily into existing managed networks. All MS need to do is to put a finger friendly on top of Windows and the market is all theirs! I wonder if they've noticed Si

Well I'd have to say yes - like I say - some of the teachers couldn't spell IT and wouldn't know an apple from an orange and normally only use Smart Notebook and Word. They just volunteered to help out on the day and the ease of use of the software/hardware just took away the techy side of things and let them get on and help the kids learn Now, the lead teacher is a fanbois (own Mac/IPhone/Ipad) so that's why he's bought them I use my own modified version of a prog called Helium Frog (modded to work better on 1024x600 netbook displays and to output Huffyuv coded avi's instead of MJPEG - fed into MS Movie Maker to add in a narration. I can teach/help a teacher teach a class using this setup but its about a factor of 5 to 10 more technical to use than the IMotion/IMovie combo on the IPad and therefore is far less attractive to a teacher to attempt to go it alone themselves. I'm just saying the IMotion/Imovie combo on an IPad is value for money (basically £8 software that can't be beaten for ease of use/quality of results ) Si Its useless for accessing online elearning BTW
