I want to capture the screen (preferably set the capture area but not essential) when I press a key and have each image saved. The I'd like the same piece of software to convert the images into an avi (pref with choice of compressor but can live with uncompressed or wmv) IF it can't do that, then at least save them into a folder so I can use another prog to convert the images to avi. This is to use Google Sketchup for a 3D stop animation. I just can't seem to find a (free) prog to do it. Any ideas please? Si

One thing Dropbox doesn't do is proxy switching so I have to do some tricks for teachers to access a school dropbox from home on their laptops and when they bring the laptop into school. If you mean - this app looks good - oh - someone with SEN will be able to work it - it'll help them with X or Y then this is true. But this is true about any practically any activity - computer based or not Theres nothing special that a pad gives to SEN education apart from its usually easier to point and click rather than operate a mouse or trackball. I think they could be quite useful for helping with handwriting - I myself found a lovely app that allowed you to trace over letters - looked good then teacher said - ah - we don't use that method (something to do with the way the tails curl/don't curl!!!) They are just not cheap enough yet to be value for money but I fully understand that some people want to use them and are prepared to pay the premium Si

Could you explain a bit more - do you mean you use them to control Windows machines e.g turn them into very expensive mice with screens? If using them to inspire ICT - then they are great (but expesive) but in terms of value for money in assisting education for SEN children(????) Si

I've had an Ipad and a Galaxy 10.1 tab for about 6 months and they are just not good enough value to be able to make a case to use them as a general purpose tool. There is basically nothing in the education field for 'droids and the proxy server issues make life difficult (SUPPOSED to be sorted now but you'd need to actuall test the exact device before purchasing as you can't trust Google on this issue!! ) The ipads work flawlessly except no flash - there are some education apps around and they are superb sound/stop motion animation tools. But £400 vs £200 for a netbook that does everything - its just not a contest at the moment- when they are £100 - then time to look again Si PS If there was a cheap windows slate running Win7 at £200 then I might be interested in them

Its a bit of both The "controller" software is necessary to get your system configured (e.g set SSID/channels/power levels etc) but is not needed after that if you don't use extra stuff like captive portals etc and the "controller" doesn't control the AP in realtime - its really a setup/maintenance/logging tool.
