I want a blinking LED! downloaded FPi.GPIO-0.2.0.tar.gz and think I sucessfully installed it run python 2.6 from menu and import RPi.GPIO as GPIO give no error but GPIO.setup(11, GPIO.OUT) gives Traceback (most recent call last): File "", line 1, in File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/RPi.GPIO-0.2.0-py2.6.egg/RPi/GPIO/__init__.py", line 102, in setup with open('/sys/class/gpio/export', 'w') as f: IOError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/sys/class/gpio/export' Anyone had this and what's the cure? Also what physical pin does pythons 11 map to - is it Pin 3 on the PI GPIO strip (e.g GPIO on the right,2nd pin down on left side pins)??? Si

I think the wifi/network/something is just dying/going to sleep at random intervals - I've had to reboot the RaspberryPi about 3 times today because of this. (but its been fine for past hour as I'm posting this on it Si

Why start from WDO if intending to use WinPE? What's the advantage? Si

(I'll be altering the facts here to protect the guilty but the gist will be right ) Got my Pi this morning but was detailed domjobs before being allowed to play and of course the F1 practice went on a bit so that's my excuse for not getting it to the running a nuclear power station state 1st prob - no HDMI monitor but bought a £5 HDMI-DVI lead from Chorley market. So download the standard debian distro, used my galaxy tab usb charger as the psu, plugged kbd and mouse into usb and it worked The pi boys decided to make things hard and just present you with a linux login ! After googling/twitting/edugeeking for 2 hours - I eventually found the piece of paper in the box with all the details as to what to do next and entered the user pi, password raspberry and then typed startx I then ran up Scratch from the menu (bit slower than I'm used to even on my XP netbooks) and stopped for a rest. After tea/Raiders of the Lost Ark/Superstar it was back to the table and see if we can get it on the net. Ran a long lead from dining room to living room router - that worked but obviously wanted wireless facitilities Now - thats when it starts to get geeky. I had a 3Com wi-fi dongle around (RA2870 chipset it turns out to be) - I needed to get a USB hub up and running as now need 3 ports (kbd/mouse/dongle) - lots of googling and eventually after apt-getting the latest drivers for it and finally getting the syntax right for a non-encrypted wi-fi setup (for some strange reason there's not a lot of info on that configuration!) (I'll post my config once I'm back at pi tomoz) Anyway - Pi finally picked up a DHCP address from my wifi router at 23:30 but then failed to actualy display a real T'internet page (it will let me ping the router and even log into it via Midori (the Pi browser) but no futher ! At that point I stopped and decided I'd nearly won and 5 mins in the morning and it'll prob work Night Night Si

Ok, with my RaspberryPi journey, I'm trying to have chats on here and chats on twitter What is the best way to manage this? Get myself a blog and post the good stuff there on both edugeek/twitter and just reply on both???? Just post good stuff on edugeek and post link on twitter (going to start trying that) and reply on both? @ZeroHour - are there (in very near future) plans for a bit of twitter/forum integration? Si

you see - all its takes is an expert with good communication skills and the light switches on JFYI it IS on a piece of paper inside the box - but who reads them eh! I'm thinking - how hard will it be for me to hack the beginners distro and get it to autostart - it could be called the Simple Distro

aah - it seems startx is the magic command - someone needs to put that on a piece of paper inside the box Si

There's not one here and I can't see one on the official forums either - its all too geeky! Where's the "simple" stuff so I can play with Scratch for instance? Si

Methinks its time those of us who've been paying out for 50GB since the beginning were given some sort of reward by Mr Dropbox Although to be fair - I've only hit my limit once Si

I tried ! I've told you I'm on HLTA wages (same as a Network Manager gets up here) which is one rung down from what teachers get - what more should I be asking for? ????? Si PS A lot of HLTAs up here only get HLTA pay when they are covering classes - I'm getting it all the time - so I'm way ahead of the support staff teaching pay curve)

Tweetdeck seems to be fine for simple filtering but I can;'t see how to get it do do all of @AT,@GD @EduTech etc and also add into same column anything with the word edugeek (or any other keyword I want) in it I need/want finer filtering/control:( Si
