No its 180 RPM (prob 50:1 gearing down from 9600rpm) Which is pretty much the same as the 4tronix one - I prefer more highly geared (better torque at low speeds) but the 200rpm range ones are the most common - - - Updated - - - I'm just in the middle or playing with PWM freqs as I've found that I can can better torgue at low speeds if I lower the PWM freq Simon

4tronik have wheels that fit as well. The CPC ones are the same sort but I prefer more highly geared ones myself

The cheap little motor tend to run too fast as they are ungeared. For robotics I just use these sort 6V Geared Motor with Dual Shaft as they are geared down and have 5mm shaft ready for wheels. More expensive but metal geared Micro Metal Gearmotor - Pimoroni I also like these Data Harvest - KNEX education control motor KX92845 : KX92845 as they are ready to go to interface to K'nex for fairground ride type projects I'm thinking that if a sec school had a 3D printer, they could make some gears to fix on the cheap motors to interface to technics maybe? Jsut had my second FJ desktop fail to get thru its startup setup routine - its takes ages so I leave it running and come back to it on next visit to find it still saying its setting up. I have to power cycle to get control - then it ends up in a loop and needs setting up using recovery DVD Obvioulsy Mr FJ QA dept is on holiday Simon

I'm trialling a different method of using Raspberry Pi with Scratch in classrooms Instead of connecting them directly up to own keyboard/monitor combo or remote into them using VNC, I've got another way Basically, the PI runs a little script on startup that listens out on the network to see if it should launch a GPIO Python controller program. The pupils can then run a little program on their main PC/Laptop and connect to the Pi using the last 4 digits of the Pi serial number. Well .....where to start 1. I believe Scratch is practically perfect for KS2. If there is a G&T computing teacher in the school then possible to do Minecraft/Kodo etc but for 95% of Primaries - Scratch Rules 2. Given Rule 1 then Scratch on the Raspberry Pi opens up the world of burglar alarms, traffic lights, Robots, desktop D&T in general Of course, I would say this since I wrote ScratchGPIO ScratchGPIO5 | CympleCy (SimpleSi) If you haven't tried it yet - give it a whirl and then come back for more info Although the add-on board I want hasn't been built yet (basically same options as a Data Harvest Flow Go Box) the Pimoroni PiBrella is a very useful little ad-on and one of the few that come ready built. Just doing more of the teaching than I used to as having been teaching Scratch as an extra activity - now its hit mainstream curriculum then my schools are using the resources they have to hand - e.g. me So basically do 2Hrs a day teaching Scratch - the rest tech moving around 5 schools instead of 6 Hopefully using Arduinos and RaspberryPi with Y5 and 6 Simon

I just had two schools that only had me for half a day each and they both wanted me to help out with new computing cuuric but there wasn't enough time for them both. But I've seen the school come through special measures and last Ofsted was good so I feel OK about leaving and a quality firm is taking over so they are not being left in the lurch. The new team might even upgrade the computers from win98

Absolutley bloomin typical 1. This WPKG package isn't working in one of my schools (I just set it to run and didn't check as its worked flawlessly in 5 others!) 2. The school is running fine even without it!!!!! (so thankful for small mercies)

Eureka Using lancs email addresses as temp override authority so teachers can get on with things in-between peripetic technician visits Create a new lancsngfl email address called [email protected] (use your real school) Goto Dashboard - Administration and then Add Authentication Source stick email in all boxes (or anything you want) but put in outlook.lancsngfl.ac.uk for mail server and tick the encrypt and end user use. Goto Webfile - Override Users and create a new list called web, description web Edit it and Add User Search for web - click on it - change Name to [email protected] Enter web as description Goto WebFilter and Policy Management - Rule Sets - Students Scroll to Access page Select Require Username and select Restrict username as well and select web for username access Then make sure all the overrides boxes are ticked for every category you want staff to be able to override and that web is selected And I think that does it I've got it working so if it doesn't work for you then its probably my instructions Simon
