Hi, Regarding using SMART software on a 3rd party screen you should check your licencing agreement with SMART. My understanding is your existing licence wouldn't automatically cover you on non smart hardware. Your suppliers should be able to give you a cost to buy a new SMART licence to use with a 3rd party screen though if you're not covered. Are you set on these two brands or are these just the recommendations from your suppliers? I'm happy to give you a quote for comparison as we are an Edu-geek sponsor. Hi, We manufacture both Interactive screens and Interactive projectors. There's been a definite shift in schools towards the interactive screens as the screen price has come down. Advantages of interactive projectors are IMO; cost per inch, slightly improved viewing angles, option to have a dry wipe board projection surface. Advantage of interactive panels; Higher resolution, lower maintenance. We offer a full five year warranty that includes the panel of the screen (which is actually the most expensive component.) Anything over 80" we are still strongly recommending projection solutions. However you will probably be looking at a larger screen at a much lower resolution. The latest BenQ's have a control panel lock and also an IR remote lock. Built like tanks as well.

Hi, We do a full range from 42" - 84". Most popular sizes being 65" / 70" and 79". Our 79" is closest in area to the most popular IWB sizes (typically 77/78") but you may find you can go slightly smaller because of the clarity and brightness of the screens. Hi, I would definitely recommend a projection screen. What you've described doesn't sound like the ideal projection surface. How bright is the hall? We typically recommend projectors from 5000 lumens+ into school halls depending on the ambient light and throw distance. However I'm moving more towards recommending 7000 lumens+ in a lot of cases. Giving consideration that if you put a 4000-5000 lumens projector in after a few years that projector might only be out putting 3000-4000 lumens (not scientific but just to make my point). Also worth giving consideration to whether features like zoom / focus can be powered from a remote. If you want any more information, send me a PM and ill give you my email address. Regards Adrian

I've seen it on occasion with various brands of screen due to cold weather. It should clear after a few hours of use. We normally see a spike in reported cases after holiday periods or if the weather suddenly dips. The grubby finger issue is something we are looking at. We've spent a lot of time looking at eye-health; low blue light (like the night-shift mode apple have just added) , flicker free displays etc but up till now we've not put much thought into bacteria on the screens.

Any idea of budget? Do you already have the screen? We have a screen with some basic signage software built-in. Nice option if you need to source a screen as well. Content can be uploaded locally from a USB stick. PM me if you want more details and I might be able to bring you one out to have a look at.

MX570 is only 1.9kg. That's 3200 ansi, XGA with a 5yr on-site warranty. That's probably our best-value education projector. It has a wide throw ratio as well so easy to position. There are smaller A5 size products that are more portable but they normally offer less brightness. You can run this in lampsave mode to extend the bulb-life up to 10'000hrs as well. That's 4:3. You might want to look at 16:9? Thanks

Hi All, Just to introduce myself as we are a new sponsor. As a manufacturer of projectors and flat-panels we’ve seen a major shift towards interactive panels in education but IMO both technologies have their place. Projection offers a larger potential screen size (although normally at a lower resolution) and arguably better viewing angles. I’d recommend for screen sizes over 80” or where schools have IWB’s with a few years left. Long-term solution tends to be replace with interactive panels now. Advantages of the panel technology; brightness, colour reproduction, higher resolution, lower maintenance, no calibration.
