Is it possible to convert these 'smart' U3 drives to normal flash drives so they work as expected (or at all). I'd rather not have to ban them outright as half the staff have them, but they keep asking for admin access in order to run >_<

@mark: I'll second that. We've got one (16v) and I'm rather unimpressed. The wood & metal frame is solid enough, but it seems to have been bodged in places. The locks don't work, the main door lock can turn without a key (the key actually gets stuck if you use it) and the lock on the door covering the power distribution is the wrong size so that door's always falling open. The wheels aren't screwed on either, so if you lift an end up the wheels can fall off. Unless they've been improved greatly since this was bought ~18 months ago, I'd recommend against them. 30 unit trolleys are a pain to stop once they get going, I took a sizeable chunk out of a brick wall with one a few weeks ago. Luckily there were no kids around at the time, I dread to think of the consequences had there been.

Our webserver has died twice this morning so I've removed the files while firguring out what's going wrong. I'll put them back up once I find what's causing it to freeze.

Can anyone point me to some decent network providers in the Ipswich / Bury St Edmunds area. We usually use a local sparks for cabling, but for this job we'd like a more specialised company as we're after cabling for a new suite, a new fibre core, and possibly a replacement wireless network. Cheers

ClamWin is good for scheduled scanning. Downside is it doesn't have an on-access scaner, but the clients can take care of that.

I've not added anything, I only started playing with it this morning and havn't really looked at the ticket side yet, I'm more interested in how it extends OCS.

I'm playing with GLPI which can authenticate with POP/IMAP. As an added bonus it can also use OCS for it's inventory lists.

After many long weeks of searching we finally have a solution. The problem was caused by a ghost entry for the old Document Server hiding in the system which only became visible after removing the current document server from the 'Document Server Setup' dialog, and therefore hadn't been noticed previously. Once this ghost record was removed and the current server added back, we were once again able to import reports, and my SIMS manager is happy again. Thanks again for all your help and suggestions.

It's what I'm planning on building once I get a little more spare cash.

Set them using hash rules, then it won't matter where they are, they'll still be allowed. @Teth: As long as you leave the default rules intact, I'm sure that's how it works. Set a path exception for //{domain}/netlogon (or the full script path if you want to be really safe) By default SRP classes shortcuts as executables, you need to either: Remove .lnk from the executables list Set exceptions for the shortcuts you need. Well my memory was slightly out, it's only 56,050 files. All six zips (and the licence) are now on our VLE. When I checked it I think it was 6-8GB and 75,000+ files. WW2 Peoples War (the only file I have with me) alone has 55,549 files ^^;

I got it all, not yet told the teachers though, I'm saving it as a surprise. If you wanted a copy I could stick the files on our webserver and you can download them overnight/weekend.

Well since I rebooted the servers I havn't had any more reports of login script errors, but I'm still seeing errors in client event logs along with a new one: No Domain Controller is available for domain STOWMARKETM due to the following: There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request. . Make sure that the computer is connected to the network and try again. If the problem persists, please contact your domain administrator. And also a new one on the PDC: Active Directory could not resolve the following DNS host name of the source domain controller to an IP address. This error prevents additions, deletions and changes in Active Directory from replicating between one or more domain controllers in the forest. Security groups, group policy, users and computers and their passwords will be inconsistent between domain controllers until this error is resolved, potentially affecting logon authentication and access to network resources. Just to add to my confusion, we're now getting a very odd problem. User logs on with no errors, opens mapped network drive and gets asked to reauthenticate, and the authentication dialog always has the same user listed regardless of what user account and machine is being used (even machines they've never used). I've no idea if it's related, but it's confusing the hell out of me.

We're in wave 13-15 so it's a fair way off for us yet. We do however already have a good idea of the council/LA's plans, they're trying to close all middle schools and move to a 2 tier system. So for us BSF may mean closure >_<
