I do love plex and use it for my home media solution. Is your internet upload good enough to serve video over the net that way?

All bar one of our schools have Smartboards. A lot have a mixture of old lamp based projectors - Panasonic, Hitachi, nec. They have wall mount speakers - Normally Nuvo. Some are upgrading to Casio LED projectors. The rest go for our 55" - 65" LED dual touch.

I've seen that on a 3G that was on my car dash doing sat nav duties on a sunny day. I'm careful where I leave phone on the days we get sun now!

Yes, as far as I remember! Once initial prep and supervision is done you don't have to rename. -
Assign to User via Cart..... Knowing Which iPad :QUESTION
XiJ replied to EN4CER's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
No, once you have named/numbered them you can leave them the same under supervision. If the actual iPads are stickered up you can plug in in order of you like! -
Yes - or at least use a domain name so it can be easily 'ported'

Ah, that would be good. Tbh I have my own google Apps account - but the in-laws use Sky e-mail and imap was very handy. I haven't even looked into for them yet. I'll get brownie points if I give them a solution though
-
Ah, read it properly now. So the ex google exec talked Sky into moving....
-
Can't believe Sky moved from google to Yahoo / and don't offer imap. So where's BT moving?

I've used both windows and mac versions for a long time. My mac hardware is much quicker so I use my mbp or iMac mainly now. All DVD / Blu-ray are converted to h264 mp4's for me and thrown into Plex Media server which is excellent. I'm in the process of finishing my media server - which actually has an i7 so I look forward to seeing what quick sync versions can do with that. Will there be a quick sync version for mac?

We've used a single server DC for years in our primaries. Just make we sure we have a good backup (s) solution in place. I do intend to virtualise in future - using your plan B.

We've supplied both V7 and TechAir. My TechAir gets loads of hammer and is still going strong
-
Yes, thanks - can't believe I didn't check that before.
-
Thanks - your contact helped me source the part!

Got the PM And the link! Price seems a bit steep bit I guess it's not an of the shelf part. Thanks
-
A contact would be great, thanks. I have spoke to them via e-mail, twitter and via a distributor but a phone call wouldn't hurt! I don't seem to order the part via their website though

Automatic Startup and Shutdown Software
XiJ replied to ChristianDavies's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
We just run a scheduled batch command on the server that shuts down the remote machines at a given time. Startup might require some more specialist software I guess / although you could set wake on alarm in the bios - you'd probably want an alternative shutdown time for weekends though ! -
Mac2Sell price it at around that price - and you're offering a BT keyboard : mouse so seems reasonable. Maybe collection only putting people off?

Setting folder security and share permissions automatically
XiJ replied to Dragon's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
I've decided to stick to using my Kix script for 2k8R2 and it should be fine for 2012 too. I'm rewriting it to use ldap + I did use xcacls. Looking at icacls / cacls for permissions now though. -
Several of our primary schools have Workforce Pro 4015/4515 for both office and even curriculum side. Or on some cases the B310. Had no complaints and they are low cost on inks.

I suspect Jerred91 is correct - it's still on there from when YouTube was included in os5 Can you block it at firewall / filtering level ?

Is use Cobian backup for free. Can schedule it and it can compress to zip/7z and password protect if required. For cloud, I use Dropbox free but mainly for sync facility and redundancy. I did buy an unlimited subscription for crashplan for a year when you ha a flash sale - $2.60 for the YEAR. Hope they have another next year. Took a while to upload 26gb of data though!
