  2. Afternoon everyone. I have a windows 7 pro 64 bit machine in a windows server 2008 R2 Standard environment and no new user can login. The users that logged in before can still login but no new users. I get the following message when I try to login The user profile service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded. I have taken the pc off the domain and re joined but made no difference. Any help would be much appreciated.
  3. Good morning. I'm trying to fix a Macbook Air that has Sierra OS installed. When I click on Safari I get a popup window saying SafariBookmarksSyncAgent quit unexpectedly. As a results of this I cannot use Safari at all. I managed to install Google Chrome so I can access the internet but it would be good to fix Safari. I don't know much about Mac but I read that I cannot reinstall Safari as it is part of OS now. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
  4. thanks the date and time are correct
  5. Morning. I'm having some problem with a win 7 pro machine in a domain. I'm trying to access mail.lgflmail.org but it keeps coming up with Security certificate error. Microsoft outlook, Internet explorer and Google Chrome all come up with the same security certificate error. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
  6. Thank you guys. The password reset fixed the issue! Life safer!
  7. The DNS server was unable to open Active Directory. This DNS server is configured to obtain and use information from the directory for this zone and is unable to load the zone without it. Check that the Active Directory is functioning properly and reload the zone. The event data is the error code. this is what is reporting in event viewer.
  8. I restarted the dns services but no luck. Not sure what has changed. Yesterday was fine.
  9. yes users can access the internet but not shares, that could be because we use DFS which is installed on this DC as well and no printer either. Remote access is only working if I type in the DC ip address.
  10. The domain controller is a Hyper V virtual machine. C drive is fine and I logged in as the administrator. I cant access \\server at all. There is another virtual machine acting as the file server and that is working fine when I try to access it via \\server
  11. Morning guys. Our DNS server is not working at the moment. The server is running on Windows Server 2016. When I click on the DNS I get The server (name of the server) could not be contacted. The error was: access denied. Would you like to added anyway? Any help would be much appreciated.
  12. Thank you guys. I managed to setup the old server so he could just used that to setup the whole OS deployment from scratch.
  13. He would create and deploy images yes. We have an older server with Windows Server 2008 r2 installed on it. He could use that.
  14. Thank you. That solves most of my problems. I just need to figure out the deployment part now.
  15. That's great. Just looked in AD, do you mean the Delegate Control option?
  16. Thanks. What we don't want is to give him rights to data on staff. I guess I could just give him permissions on all the folder that belongs to students. In AD however you can see both students and staff. How can you give this person right to mess around with students profiles only? He also wants to setup Windows deployment on another server that would push out the image on request.
  17. Good morning I have been asked to create an account for someone who will: Administer the students’ login in AD, access shares, and setup OS deployment. I don’t want to give this person the administrator account. Is there a permissions that does all this but lower that the administrator account? Our server is Windows Server 2016. Thank you
  18. Hi guys. I have an excel .xls file that is password protected and the user forgot the password. I have tried to change the file to a zip file but no luck so far. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
  19. Thanks. 1 off incident fix sounds good, I emailed my boss about will see if he purchase it. I know I should know about this more but taken on this school was not my choice and unfortunately I get no support on courses at work. Anyway I did try to fix it:) Thanks again.
  20. I see. Thanks for that. Unfortunately we don't have any support in place. We do have backups of users data so worst case we just have to rebuild the whole thing again. We didn't put this server in we just inherited it from prev IT guy, hence my knowledge on VM servers. Can the vmdk file be corrupted which would mean to scarp the whole vm and start again, or could it be just locked?
  21. Pooley- thanks for your post, I cannot see any delta files on my datastore. Tefters- Just to be clear you are creating a new VM and then just pointing to the disks- Yes that is correct. Im doing this through VSphere client v6.0 We have a dell server which has 2 VM's on. When I reboot the host the whole dell server reboots so I think VCenter server and the host are the same. I managed to add one of the server and gave me the option to boot but then it gave me another error. When I rebooted the host again it just went back to the 2 failed servers even though I removed them twice now.
  22. I have removed the VM's from the inventory. rebooted the host. both vm's showed up again. Removed them again. Clicked on add new VM pointed it to the existing VM's file. Now I got this message.
  23. Thank you Tefters for your reply. Yes what you said about what happened is sounds about right. Unfortunately I cannot make a note of the setting of the servers that won't boot as it is inaccessible, and just says zeros or nothing on the screen at their settings. I roughly know the hard drive sizes, the OS and the ram. Is that enough you think? To reattach the server Im creating a vm and browsing to the vmx file. Is that correct? Much appreciated.
  24. Good morning. I'm going to give it another go today to boot up these servers. Anyone got any suggestion on my last entry? Thank you
  25. I Managed to add an extra sas drive to the server and also managed to add it to the existing data store. So hard drive space is not a problem anymore. The vm still not back to 'normal' so I created a new vm and pointed back to the old vm. Unfortunately when I click on power on I get this message. Any ideas?
