Hi, no the ActivDriver is not currently included with the ActivInspire installer / suite. The Activdriver uses a different installer (bitrock) so it needs to be downloaded/ installed separately. Also, since you mentioned you’re doing a network install, as mentioned the ActivDriver uses bitrock and is not MSI based so your deployment for the Activdriver may need to be modified slightly. Instructions on network deployment of the current driver can be found on our KB under article (1156) linked here (https://support.prometheanworld.com/article/?kb=1156) Regarding your second question. There is no registry key that needs to be changed, the Admin.ini file will handle the redirection of the directory. Also the directory does not necessarily need to be accessible during the install. The unpacked exe will contain multiple parts of the ActivInspire software as MSI files. You will see a “core resources” MSI which contain basic flipchart building resources and are the files that are installed in the Shared resource directory. If the directory is not available, then there is no need to deploy the “core resources” MSI. ActivInspire will see the resources if they are placed in appropriate directory at a later time / if they are already existing in the new directory. (not sure what your configuration looks like) Hope this helps

Board Pen Inputs not working in middle of lesson/on bootup
GaRobbie replied to DigiBen's topic in Promethean Direct Support
Hi, you see this on Windows machines the most and it is often related to the USB power management settings. Go to “Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings” and then select change “advanced power settings” at the bottom. This will open a new window, scroll down to USB settings > USB selecting suspend > and set this to Disabled. This will stop the computer from turning off USB ports which is likely what is occurring.- 1 reply

Hi, Generally when the projector LED flashes 20 times it is an indication that the lamp in the unit has gone bad. I would recommend testing with a known working lamp to see if the unit powers up. Also, FYI if you test with another lamp be sure you close and secure the lamp door or the unit will not power up.

Hi, I would recommend getting in contact with the Promethean Sales team through the "How to Buy" link frond on Prometheanworld.com. (Linked below) https://www.prometheanworld.com/en-gb/how-to-buy/ Let us know if you have any other questions.

Hi Jessica, there is not a way to change this setting via group policy. I found a couple of other forums where users have tried using an altered registry key though from what I read it had mixed results. Also, in regard to the driver. If you are connecting via Serial, you are correct in using the V5.7 though if you are looking to connect using USB I would personally recommend using V5.11

Hi Jessica, I’m not sure where you can find the serial cables for the older AC2 boards though I may be able to help with the connection issues when connected via USB. If I am understanding correctly it is dropping periodically throughout the day / during use. If so, have you looked into the USB power management setting on the computer? (Go here : Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings and then select change “Advanced power settings” > go down to USB settings and disable “Selective Suspend” ) Do you still have dropping issues after disabling this setting?

The issue with the help files not opening in IE and Chrome was fixed with Inspire 2.0. If you selected the check of updates from within the software, that download does not include the updates to the help files (or the driver). I would recommend going out to Prometheanplanet.com and downloading the full Inspire suite (which includes all parts of the software). Installing the help files using the Inspire suite should correct your issue. If not, can you tell me your OS version and language.

Hi Luke, Just to clarify you are stating that when viewing the flipchart file in the folder you do not see the Inspire / flipchart icon but instead a generic icon? If this is the case have you tried right clicking the flipchart icon select “Open With” > “ choose default program” > if Inspire is not in the list select browse and go to (C:\Program Files\Activ Software\Inspire) to select ActivInspire (to the right of ActivInspire it should say Application)

If you wanted to continue to use the V1 stand and a Promethean projector I would recommend looking at the PRM-45v1. The mounting bracket is a little different though believe there is still an upgrade kit for the conversion (ABP2V1-PROJ-UPG-BRKT) Also, the projector shutting down could be related to power fluctuations and an additional idea to test out would be to using an extension cable to connect the unit to a different mains outlet.

Activstudio Flipchart Viewer Download Unavailable
GaRobbie replied to ricky123's topic in Promethean Direct Support
HI Guys, Currently there is no separate Flipchart viewer. If you would like to open or view Flipcharts then you are correct, you will need to Install ActivInspire. You do Not need a license or hardware to use the Personal edition of the software (which is the un-activated version of the software). According to the licensing for the Personal edition it is not supposed to be used on TPH (third party hardware, like a SMART board), though can be used in a school . To use Inspire on TPH you would need the Professional ED of Inspire. You can use the Personal Edition on TPH if you have purchased flipcharts by applying for a teacher consent license on Prometheanplanet.com. An alternative to using Inspire would be to use ClassFlow which is a Web based program that has a Flipchart Import feature and is not hardware specific / does not require special licensing. -
Active Board Touch 78 not interacting
GaRobbie replied to Zourous's topic in Promethean Direct Support
Hi Zourous, It would be helpful to know the model of board you have though below are a few general suggestions. If you are not already, try putting your display in cloned / duplicate. Then try calibrating. Do you get any interaction? Try updating the ActivDriver. (The newest driver, v5.11, can be downloaded from prometheanplanet.com) When updating the driver be sure the board is not physically connected. Does the board show in the ActivManager / driver? If so can you advise the board FW which will display in the hardware tab of ActivManager? (There may be an update available) Does the board show in Windows device manager? If not I would recommend contacting Promethean support directly as your board may have a fault. If it does display in DM do you see it with a yellow “!” / error? -
Problem upgrading ActivInspire v1.7 to v2.0
GaRobbie replied to Norphy's topic in Promethean Direct Support
Hi Norphy, You could try looking for the AppSharedResDir key and checking the path shown in this key is the one you want the shared resources to be installed to before starting the install for Inspire. The registry key can be found here : HKey Local Machine \Software\Activ Software\Inspire\App\1.0 -
Hi Mbro, No changes made been made to the ActivPens recently and there is not a universal pen for all of our boards. The older AC2 boards use grey cylindrical pens with an orange band near the button. These pens will only work on the older AC2 boards and are not interchangeable / compatible with the newer AB300 & 500 Series boards. The Pens for the AB300 & AB500 series boards are a solid dark grey (teacher) or light grey (student) and have a slight curve to them. These pens will work on both the AB300 & AB500 boards though are not interchangeable / compatible with the older AC2 boars. Hope this helps
