We are looking at using the screen lock feature in AB tutor to send messages to desktops rather than broadcast it via an alarm system/speakers. Our IP phones can also broadcast messages. As a school that has had 2 high profile bomb incidents next to it we have been advised (rightly or wrongly) to do silent alerts and then implement our Run, Hide, Tell policy or stay put procedure depending on the actual incident.

I've seen some schools where they have a facilitator (TT only) who's job is to train staff in all aspects of using the systems such as SIMS and Cloud services such as Office365 especially some of the more collaborative stuff.
