OK update I gave up and managed to get CAPITA to look at it. For whatever reason the SOLUS agent was not starting up automatically on the PC's. Don't know why.

didn't work - - - Updated - - - Since end of march. Everything else works fine on them network wise.

Bump - getting nowhere fast with this. Tried turning off firewalls, AV and running as local or domain admin. Still the same issue.

Hi, school been closed down for COVID since March. Some workstations were working remotely and we did a SIMS SOLUS update in May. Workstations that were on updated no problem and show online in SOLUS. Workstations that were off during lockdown show as offline and won't update. Anybody got a clue? Saw a post that suggested flush dns on sims server but that's not made a difference.

Wasn't me in the end but thanks for the heads up.

Hi, we seem to have stopped receiving emails from a supplier that we use. I've checked quarantine and there are no emails from them in there. Got them to send to a couple of people in school and non come through. How can I check to see if the senders domain is blocked?

Unless you have something like a turnstile then you can't really get around tail gating and people just holding the door open unless you have a member of staff there. We have a turnstile and the buggers can still squeeze through with their friend!

We've found that Safari doesn't support all O365/Teams features so have to have Chrome instead.

Why wouldn't you have a paper backup in case the tech fails? Also I despise Sat Nav and how lazy it makes you. I've known people plot a course for a trip that they regularly make ending up in the wrong part of the post code - again like they did last journey because they haven't remembered/learnt the route. It may well be just me but usually if I've been somewhere once I can find my way again without the need of digital or paper help

Like witch I have a smart phone but don't have the data on unless i want it and also keep it in battery saving mode so that im not always worrying about charging it. My LM laughs at me when i say my battery can last all week

I've done quite a bit of remote learning and can vouch for the fact that eventually your mind wanders, usually toward the end when you have other things on your mind. However all of these sessions are recorded and you have the chance to go back and view them, something you don't in a live lesson. In the end it all about the mix and how individuals learn.

Got it! Filtering issue on via our Smoothwall box. As we have Y4 upwards we have a multi aged filtering setup and of course its our Y6 who are back in school. Now just need to see what criteria is blocking Teams, suspect something to do with things like facebook and other social stuff that is age limited. If anyone knows it would save me some digging tie :)Thanks for all your responses. The clue was in there!

OK Teams works for pupils on their own devices. I can logon as a staff member to the domain PC then use either the client or web based teams app as the pupil and it works. Logged on as the test pupil then zippo. I've moved the test account to a staff container and still Zippo Scratches head
-
When trying to use either the app or web based version of Teams students are getting the following message on their screen "sorry, we couldn't connect you" This is in school on IT classroom PC's I've tested with a staff account and both versions of Teams work. I've moved a test pupil into a container that allows them to access the 'C' drive - my initial thought on the error but they still get in. Anybody had a similar issue in school using Teams?

We use Ruckus and I thought i'd limited bandwidth, i'll have to check again. Trouble is 300 kids is approx 850+ devices plus the houses have Wi-Fi enables TV's.

Thanks just confirming my general thoughts. Things like Sharepoint online struggle for some reason when we are near to the max on our internet connection. As we've moved over to this for files it can cause a problem. Were a boarding school and kids have BYOD so at key times - break and early evening we get maxed out and then loose connection to Office online. Boss (teacher) just didn't get VLAN and QOS but am winning him around. We upgraded our connection from 100 to 200 and withing a week or so the kids had begun to max it out.
-
that's the idea!

Hi, We want to create 40 classrooms for 1 to 1 music instrument tuition using Teams. We have a 200Mb pipe already but when the school is in full flow it can struggle. Would a separate network for these rooms with its own line be a better idea than VLANing them?

Migration from network shares to SharePoint storage
E_G_R2 replied to hanmark's topic in Cloud Services
For our staff who don't desk hop (most of ours) we use the onedrive client and then they sync from the libraries they want to access - this is quicker than using the online libraries and with Office365 office they can collaborate and stuff. -

Have your video's in STREAM and then just a link in your document libraries -
This command will do it for a single user. Is there any way for doing it bulk or by distribution group? Set-MailboxMessageConfiguration [email protected] -ShowConversationAsTree $false

Is this possible? To use a RFID or other type of card to logon to a windows device without having to enter a username and password?

Hi, anyone know if you can use powershell to bulk turn off conversation mode in Outlook web-client? If not is it possible to change default away from this to standard? Kids not coping with this mode Rgds

Not being pedantic but how many times do you see pupils touching screens? Quite often by the grubby state of them So i'd be considering cleaning the screens as well especialy as they are at face level so may possibly collect droplets if no masks are worn.
-
What about mice and screens as well? Its airborne so expect droplets to settle around the workstation?
