Red One (Cinema) When Santa is kidnapped on Christmas Eve his security team must work with a tracker to find him before there is a Christmas without presents. Not bad, but not particularly good. Some nice ideas get buried by murky CGI fights and it's a bit too potty mouthed and cynical in places for little ones. If you want too watch I would say wait for its release on Prime, which I suspect will be next month.

Watched the first episode of Interior Chinatown on Disney. A waiter in a cop show set in Chinatown wants to be a main character. It's an interesting idea but doesn't really gel so far, seeming more like a poor low-key drama so when the meta stuff happens it feels "off". Will give it a couple more episodes.

Have to confess that I wasn't sure why the movies needed to be remade in "live action" but I loved that teaser.

How about an Android TV box? Should get you access to most streamers, though obviously you'd have to subscribe to the ones you want. You should be OK for Freeview and you could just subscribe on a monthly basis to whatever has the most you're interested in and then swap to another if you exhaust the content. You can normally get one to three months free of Apple TV (Silo, Foundation) and I use my Tesco Clubcard Points to finance Disney.

Getting this instead of the user's icon on, it seems, mail sent to lists. The same user can send to individuals without the question mark showing. Apparently this probably means DMARC/SPF/DKIM problems but it has only just started happening. Any one else getting this?

Watched the first episode of Cross on Prime Video. Had been looking forward to it as I've liked Aldis Hodge since his "Leverage" days and the previous screen iterations of the character (Morgan Freeman and Tyler Perry) were watchable. Found this one a bit hard going, with too much going on (two or three killers on the prowl unless they're all the same person) and a lot of racial tension stuff that I can't remember being such a big feature in the films. Not read the books. Hoping it gets better.

Yep, that's my current process.

Finished the third season of My Life Is Murder on Acorn. "Cosy Crime" that is is one of Mme LeMarchand's shows. S1 was set in Australia while S2 and onwards moves to NZ. More of the same with snarky ex-cop Alexa Crowe (Lucy Lawless) working as a consultant for the local force. The legal system in the antipodes seems to have much more lax laws when it comes to illegal searches is my big takeaway. S3 sees Alexa's sidekick take a back seat for a few episodes, to be replaced by a thinner, whiter, character who then sticks around as does Alexa's ex-criminal brother. There seems to have been some behind the scenes changes as Alexa always had way too much blusher, but her hair, makeup and wardrobe in this season make her look more like a Karen than an Alexa. Still, if you want cosy crime in the sun you could do worse.

Forgot to mention that the Third Act Complication will have everyone on here cry out: "Why didn't you have a backup?"

Lonely Planet (Netflix) Suffering from writer's block, Katherine (Laura Dern) checks into a writers' retreat in Morocco (as, apparently, authors do). Also there is Owen (Liam Hemsworth), there supporting his girlfriend (Diana Silvers) who has hit the big time with her first novel. A very slow burn romantic drama with the twist being that it's an older lady with a younger guy. Not my choice of movie for the night, and I was fully expecting to fall asleep fairly rapidly, but it did keep my interest.

I tend to "re-image" every time a laptop changes hands. The "image" is OS only; everything else added via GP. Update the WIM every few months or so - nice, easy, and free.
