  1. From within Chromex. Printing via Papercut.
  2. We use a PC in the exam room to print all the submissions centrally.
  3. Squared paper and a clash matrix? [emoji6]
  4. I'd be interested to know if the Lexend font could help the OP. I read about it last week and thought it might be worth a try with dyslexic students. It's free in Google Docs. https://www.lexend.com/
  5. Our version of SOHCAHTOA was Two Old Aunts Sat On High Chairs And Howled. I think it's more memorable if it paints a single picture.
  6. We tried Shiny Shiny in kiosk mode. It worked, but the formatting was a problem, memory sticks were a pain and kids couldn't type accented characters, which was the deal-breaker. However, I then found Chromex.io , which is excellent. It's €0.5 per active student per month, so negligible cost, support so far has been excellent and it works really well. Set exams up centrally, adding students from groups or classes. Create the header on each page automatically. Kids use the chromex app in kiosk mode with their G-Suite login. Clean interface with all the formatting they need. Saves automatically to the Chromebook and the teacher's Drive every 10 seconds. Print all submissions via Papercut from the chromex teacher console. Top tip is to prevent any user from logging on to the Chromebook in the G-Suite admin console as kids could sign out of the chromex app (even in kiosk mode) and hit ctrl alt s to get into Chrome OS before we did that. We'd set a pin to resume the exam anyway (another nice feature) so we knew they'd been out of the app. We will use it in January for Cambridge Nationals, then for mocks again in March but expect to be using it for the GCSEs in summer.
  7. Exactly the same story here. Replacement for Pebble. I love it. Not sure why they're not more popular.
  8. I think if I were starting from scratch I'd use one of the other app building sites like Thunkable or Appybuilder. App Inventor was great, but I think it's been overtaken.
  9. We are going to try Shiny Shiny for the mocks. Looks good so far.
  10. We're very happy with Yodeck. Easy to set up and use on some old Raspberry Pis we had lying around. Very flexible and relatively cheap.
  11. Each one is worth the points for a single GCSE. They are also not forced to be the same (e.g. 3-4). As an aside, I've been doing this for 10+ years and trying to do it all in your own spreadsheet is the way to madness, especially for things like Progress 8. Sign up for a trial of 4Matrix or some other system!
  12. Our mat has asked us to record this. They are providing Evolve Clubs so we can use it for registers and they can analyse the data to their heart's content.
  13. I saw Yodeck recommended on here a few weeks ago. Not free, but cheap, easy and seems way more powerful that we need. I downloaded the SD card image, bunged it on and old pi and had it all up and running in a few minutes. We're going to licence it for 4 screens from September.
  14. I really like my Amazfit Bip. Has its compromises at approx £50 but you get a couple of weeks of battery, heart rate sensor, notifications and GPS.
  15. Yes. I think it's just to bring it in line with the rest of their product lines "x" cloud and so on. We still go to progresso.net and it still looks the same.
  16. Have you looked at Classflow? We're looking at it as we look to get rid of Smart Notebook.
  17. As Roger said, it's a setting you can apply or not apply in the management console.
  18. Another echo from me. This is a vital feature.
  19. Yes, we get this list of "RONI"s from the LA, but it's really telling us they are at risk AFTER they have been excluded/moved house/ been taken into care/ given an EHCP. I'm more interested in what these kids' profiles were like BEFORE a flag appeared. I suspect attendance patterns and relatively low level behaviour issues would be signals worth looking at, along with other things (for example attendance at parents' evenings), but I'd assume the system itself would work out the things to look for. Further off topic, I'd like a voice interface please. "Alexa, ask SIMS which lesson Joe Bloggs is in at the moment. / What were Joe Bloggs' SATS results?" etc etc. Again, plenty of data protection issues there, but still...
  20. I was thinking about Capita or a big trust, (or even the DfE) making the investment in development not an individual school.
  21. Yeah, ok. I started with ML and swapped it. [emoji3]
  22. Since we're already off-topic... Putting aside the ethical issues for a moment, I'd love to see what could be done by applying some AI to the huge amount of data in MIS systems, especially at trust level. Rather than humans trying to spot patterns and issues perhaps the system could flag things up for us? What are the early characteristics of a student who goes on to be a school refuser, or get permanently excluded (beyond the obvious!)? Who is skiving particular subjects? Which teachers' predictions look odd compared to others' for the same students?
  23. Agreed, but we're talking about old cohorts with known A8 estimates.
  24. Proper P8 is calculated the same in all analysis software, though they all have their own way of making up Subject P8.
  25. No, you just need the raw grades, which you can export from the admin login. If you want Sisra to calculate Progress 8 for you you'll obviously need the students' KS2 data as well. This is in the markbook screen if it's not in your new MIS.
