We had a Siemens phone system which had about 100 analogue ports on it, plus a card that that gave it 8 digital ports. The latter were used for reception phones and had some additional functionality - and most importantly they needed digital handsets. Both types of phones used standard copper cables and RJ11 telephone points but they can't be interchanged I.e. you can't put a digital phone on an analogue port and vice versa. If you need additional digital lines then you will probably need to add an additional card to your phone system and get some to fit and program it. We have an Avaya system now that uses IP handsets and does have a number of analogue ports but I suspect this is not the type of system you have.

Could try Comms Express if you have no luck here. They are usually very quick and competitive .

We have a Primex GPS receiver which transmits to lots of clocks around site and also a receiver connected to our FRDC. All our other servers take their time from this plus all the workstations of course. Has worked really well for us for a few years now

Unfortunately if it's not on your licence then you can't drive it. I never really understood why they changed them but that's the way it is. Schools often have problems getting staff who can drive minibuses - certainly those with more than 12 seats

Been using misco for the last year or so and have had the same account manager who has been very good. Certainly have no complaints with the service.

Been using HP for a few years now and have found them to very robust and very reliable. The odd couple that have gone faulty have been fixed very quickly under warranty.

I have still have a couple of copies of Acorn User magazine from 84 knocking around in my office and they always make me smile when I read them again. Spent lots of times typing in the listings from those pages! One of my favourite mags was Micro Computer Mart and I bought and sold a lot stuff via it. What fear do I have exactly? Of people being persecuted for their beliefs perhaps. But your comments do reveal quite a lot about how you see the world. This is simply a case of laziness or incompetence on behalf of the school and blaming it on a government system is just breathtaking when the whole situation could have been avoided as Witch suggested.

What an earth has this got to do with anything.... Again no sources quoted, no child soldiers - just clips of a few racists who exist in every country. If we want to look for intolerance then we could always start with Russia's (and Putin's) take on homosexuality. Research what you post - find out who's behind the links and stories rather than doing a quick Google and sticking up the first link you find. I think I'm reasonably open minded when presented with facts and not assertions, hearsay and downright biased information. The BBC may not be perfect but I'd believe it any day over one of Putin's mouthpieces.

All of the Fallout Episodes along with Skyrim - in fact Bethesda are pretty good at the open world immersive game genre. Another favourite of mine where they really managed to capture the time the game was set in was GTA Vice City. It was a real piece of the 1980s and that whole Miami Vice thing

Interestingly a real advocate of 1 to 1 devices where I work has changed his tune completely after visiting a couple of schools where they already have them. Apparently it has become known as Bring Your Own Distraction and they have seen no real benefits at all. Now I'm sure there are some schools that do it really well but it's a lot of money and time to invest if the concept hasn't been proved.

I bailed ages ago trying to argue with him about this for exactly the same reason. That's the problem with conspiracy theorists! I've been using Smoothwall for 3 years now and I have to say it's a really good product. However it is sophisticated and as such can take quite a while to get it working as you want it and also get used to its ways. I think this probably took me the best part of a year! My only gripe was with support at one point which became very slow and quite frankly not acceptable. However that has changed now, and it's pretty much at the level it was when I first got the product. Heard lots of good things about lightspeed too

It's properly broken and 3rd line are looking at it - again! The problem isn't helped by the fact that our FRDC is running server 2003 and was updated from CC3 so has lots of legacy stuff on it. We are virtualising it and moving to Server 2012 at the end of August, so hopefully we will see the end of these issues. Thanks for the offer though! Sorry I didn't mean build disk - I meant the driver files. I assume RM think it is driver related or is this your hunch?

Yep can do. There are loads of Realtek drivers and in the end we made a specific build disk for our HP Laptops, which also seems to work with the desktops. We have RMMC issues at the moment so it may not be tomorrow 😒

I will watch out for that - going through the same process next week!

Some of our kit has an upper operating limit of 50C but they don't say what happens after that point. I suspect it is something along the lines of an invalidated warranty! Edit - our Overland Neo autoloader had shut itself down

No damage done fortunately and we now have one unit up and running again 😄 The engineers we've had in suspect leaks in both units which will be very annoying as they were both replaced 3 years ago.. Because they were leaking :-/ And I don't get paid overtime...

Agreed - we did this with our pile of... Erm WebAnyWhere Moodle server. You could add a proxy exception too
