    Passwords

We get a similar situation, with one key difference. Can you spot it ? Teacher: "My password isn't working" Me: "So you've forgotten it?" Teacher: "No, my password just isn't working" Me: "Well the server just doesn't forget your password"

  3. How about, on the front.. "And lo, the admin said "The geek shall inherit the earth"" and some appropriate picture. And on the back, "Blessed are the Geek" and a big pic of the edugeek logo. I would have done something artistic, but sadly my creative art abilities are about as good as a whales ability to swim out of a river
  4. We have quite alot of contact with the kids, directly through ICT problems, and from time to time more relaxed contact regarding footie results or music/tv etc. I actually find it quite useful because of everyone in the school, the kids have the potential to cause the most hassle, so I find it kinda helps to keep them thinking you're a pretty cool guy/gal. In some occassions I find that it often gives us an extra "authority" that some teachers lack. On occassion for example, a teacher wont be able to deal with an unruly teen, yet when I ask them to behave they do so. I guess not through respect of an authority figure, but more because well "if he has asked I will do it cause he's ok" kind of thing. Of course this has to be balanced with also being firm when needs be. Though again, I find they accept the firm/harsh/punishment more easily when they have a better image of you.
  5. We have completed our pilot tests, and are awaiting the SMT decision on it
  6. Been using Liberum for couple of weeks now, and something is irking me. When you do a search of entered problems in the rep menu, it lists it in pages of 10 jobs a time. Anyway that it can be changed to list all jobs? Or just 50 a page maybe? I tried editing the results.asp file (numtodisplay line) to 20, but it still just lists 10 a time.
  7. I really should try out this xfire, seems more and more people are using it. Back when I first got heavily into online gaming (which was around 1997), I used ICQ. Over the years my icq list swelled into the hundreds, but as the years passed by, we all went our seperate ways in life and slowly but surely I lost contact with virtually all of them. With no real need for me to continue using icq now, I might give this xfire a spin as it seems to have more versatility
  8. Female technicians?? /cue drooling, wolf howling and self touching Welcome to the site, havent regretted signing up here for a moment
  9. My first was a Commodore Vic20, with a massive 3.5k of memory !!!! From there , I went Speccy mad, through ZX81, to rubber keyboard 48k, onto 128k. I still maintain that speccy games in general had masses of playability , much more so than many of the flashier looking games today. After that, I went to Atari ST, for the utterly brilliant Dungeon Master. Then onto Amiga, and from there to PCs, and been with those ever since. Tried my hand at playstation and xboxs, but the games just never feel as deep as PC ones to me.
  10. I still miss that biiiiiiiiiiiiiii bip....biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii biddly biddly biddly biddly BIP ! .. biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii biizzbizzzbizzzbizzz noise to this day ! (and those lovely two tone stripey lines around the screen)
  11. Is that the install from capitasolus.co.uk/jan03011888 ?? If it is, I did that update this morning, went through fairly speedily, no hitches. Although it does seem to have caused an interesting sideeffect problem with the exam officers filtering of modules in assessment manager. Capita sorted that problem out after a chat with the exam officer.
  12. We use it , only problems we have from time to time revolve around the fingerprint scanner, which has a tendency to flip out now and then and just give us hassle. Most likely due to the librarian using a PC built by Davinci though

  20. Indeed, our LEA just provided us with 10mb a few months ago. Though we very rarely get speeds of 5mb, let alone 10. We pay 13k a year to them for it too. (including filtering, which doesnt filter terribly well anyway). Just for them to open some ports for our webserver we had to fill out several forms, get written permission from the queen and donate a kidney each.
  21. Yeah yeah !! thats an idea !! Let him host !! yeah !! /drool

We havent had a choice , our LEA has banned all web based email. So yahoo, gmail, hotmail etc have all been blocked. Got to say , that our staff despise it and complain every day
