Done numerous SIMS migrations before - rough steps below - Spin up new server - Install SQL etc - setup new S drive share - Use SIMS installable media to setup blank database - run release version manual ISO to update instance to same level as existing SIMS release - Copy over old S drive - detach database from new server and move files. - detach database from old server, (ensures logins are transferred from master database) and transfer to new server - attach / restore database - check login to SIMS - reinstrall SIMS services manager - reinstall SOLUS - reinstrall discover SOLUS and discover databases moved from old to new server in same way with backups - discover has its own backup tool - if different server name, update connect.ini files to point to new server/instance.

This issue may not just be related to school internet providers, I'm with Youfibre at home on 1gig package. I couldn't get to nationwide online banking site, but could from 4g on thursday. Contacted support and they had said had been a few reports of this issue. Was resolved by Friday evening but don't know what the issue was but seemed to affect only some SSL sites.

Our S8 went in the bin when this started happening. Support wanted logs off the unit before the reboot, when it had frozen - makes sense right?! Next thing they thought the HDD was failing, so ripped out the inline system and went cloud so WAN access is always on, even if the internet isnt.

Paxton's reply to me a few year ago: We have determine that any Net2 plus controllers Mk 1 with serial Numbers below 1795108 are being affected by the issue and will show “unknown” firmware. This is purely cosmetic and does not affect any of the Net2 Plus boards functionality. As the controllers of this range are over 5 years old No fix is due to be implemented.

Either way your still using 2U whether it's a switch and rackmount POE injector or a switch and POE switch? In both cases you are not replacing the non poe switch.?

Why would you not just install a rackmount POE switch? I inherited a network with these injector switches, didn't see the point in them so pulled out and replaced for proper managed POE switches,

Filter provider has advised me that if a domain is bypassed for SSL interception/authentication it wont show in the logs! So i suspect its one of the agents that doesnt have randomisation , Some testing to do this week. thanks

Not firewall, but external web filter does. top domain is ipv6.msftconnecttest.com and shows every machine accessing the url top domain is ipv6.msftconnecttest.com however even from home i get ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED so i'm not sure whats going on

Definitely not chrome, we don't use it. If i look at my core switch uplink ports there is consistent traffic going out/from each uplink even to our IT suites of 30 machines until it all drops off together on the core switch uplinks and internet bandwidth.

I thought it was edge but isn't as have the settings in a GPO and when open edge to check for update it says managed by the orgnisation. Also in the web activity logs no other users are top of the list, i have 478 hits of the above url,(al the machines which have booted up) and next top domain has less than 20 hits so if was edge or any other application it would show in the top access domains for the last hour

During the day i get periods where our internet connection is maxed out and causes lag. However it not NOT related to user activity. Outside of working hours if i do a bulk wake on lan of all machines, as they turn on internet bandwidth will get maxed out for ages, known by traffic graphs. Port mirroring and internet logs show that the top domain is ipv6.msftconnecttest.com visited x1 times for each machine. Is this normal?

As above, there is no Ban, I've had an official letter from a UK distributor which has come from Hikvision UK.

It'll all be multimode, I will have to spend some time tracing cables and find some identifiers. Would OTDR tests be able to identify types?

Just wondered whats the easiest way to identify installed fibre cables when there's no writing on the cable within the stretch can see. Inherited some networks over time and i've seen 62.5 OM1 patch cables used on 50/125 OM3 runs so trying to swap out so everything is as should be. I've found some green fibre cable in cabs which inherently from my site know this as being 62.5 OM1 but could be wrong? All the others are black,. The newer cables have OM3 written on but some are unmarked or are green. Without opening the trays up to see which black and green cables go to which fibre patch ports, just wondered if an easier way to identify the types installed.

Yes that is my result from the weekend as has now lost access to the GUI but devices and ping still working therefore is a firmware issue.

Its definitely a firmware fault so have gone back to vendor. the switches ping but now monitoring shows loss of http access to the gui on one of the switches so not using ping would not be a real account of whether online or not as snmp failing now on one switch but still pings ans connected devices still accessible.

Do you have a price list, and the SIMS with static IPs i assume don't run CGNAT so can be used in 4g routers for remote access to the devices?

It isn't a discovery - i monitor 4 physical sites all in exactly the same way and no other devices show this issue. Firmware is all up to date and engineers have remoted in to capture with wireshark to see if they can see whats happening. these are literally 8 port poe switches and happens even if no devices are connected to the poe ports bar an uplink cable.

I have monitoring setup on network to ping all switches and core devices and alert on unreachable/ reachable. I've purchased a qty of new switches and monitoring keeps reporting randomly the device being unreachable. I've taken it up with support and they say it's a network issue but the same issue with the same model switches happens on all our networks where I've installed this particular model switch. the weird thing is the IPs monitored that are connected to the device maintain 100% uptime but the poe switch IP has the sporadic outages and ping drop. anyone any ideas on this as I think it's a hardware revision issue as have older revisions on the same model switch on the network and don't experience this issue and no other devices monitored present this issue. The only discovery I've made is that when watching the ping from cmd after the 1 2 or 3 request timed out the next response time is then over 1000ms. However at the point ping times out to the switch I still get full ping reply from devices connected to the switch.

WSUS is alright but its not instant. Yeah i've looked at Batch patch which seems to work and do the job - might purchase this.
