By breaks I meant lets stop airing for 2 weeks for Thanksgiving, then another 4 weeks for Christmas, then another 3 weeks because someone sneezed..... Arrow definitely on the list but that was already on our list. These were new ones I hunted out to watch

Yeah, season 4 at the mo, still going.

fair point. i still need to destroy this keeper though!

I hate whoever it was that mentioned DK was free on GOG. I've wasted the whole weekend playing it. I'd forgotten just how addictive it is! Sadly I'm now stuck at a level where the enemy keeper rushes you within about 5 mins of starting. No matter what I build or do it isn't enough, I have stronger creatures, he has strength in numbers. First time so far I had to listen to the "your dungeon heart is under attack"

Don't drink and drive, digital edition : Doing 80 with 20t of petrol through Germany. Reach over to get my drink, look back at the monitor and I've misjudged the turn, hit the central concrete barrier head on. 100% damage to cab, 65% damage to trailer. Repairs cost £72k! That dropped me to £30k savings. Did the next two jobs perfect runs and my drivers getting better has pushed me back up to just under £300k thankfully.

After getting bored with the amount of breaks the US shows have, the wife and I went in search of other shows to watch to fill the gaps : Raising Hope - Absolutely love it. Has Garret Dillahunt (played Cromarty in Sarah Connor Chronicles), Martha Plimpton (one of the girls in the Goonies - what more do you need!) and Cloris Leachman (played the Grandma in Malcolm in the Middle). Fantastic comedy, well worth watching, many good references and nods. The Following - Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy in an FBI chase drama that is actually very good. Still expecting him to burst in to Flashdance but that's just me The Reign - Not my recommendation, blame this one on the wife. Something about Mary Queen of Scots, but with the usual American/Aussie actors who do their fake English accents Orphan Black - Only watched the first episode, plays out so far a bit like Ringer was (Sarah Michelle Gellar playing two roles). Could be good, I'll give it a punt. Some that just didn't make the cut Vikings - Watched 35 seconds of it and turned it off. Some shows grab you, some just make me go in to a coma. It might be fantastic, but for me, the intro killed it off The Crazy Ones - Robin Williams as a PR/marketing boss with Sarah Michelle Gellar (seeing a theme here) as his daughter. Wife described it as Robin Williams trying to be Mork 30 years on. It was just him doing his impressions and funny little skits, with a story loosely written around it. Funny in places, but it could get tiresome.

Provide info then kindly inform them that due to the underhand tactics they have employed they will never be considered for the opportunity to supply your establishment

Does GoG support steam or do all games purchased there have normal downloads? Only ask as I saw Hammerwatch there (Hammerwatch for download $1.59 - GOG.com) which is awesome, I got through steam, so didn't know if buying stuff there gives steam keys

Thanks for the tip-off. I actually think my dad still has the CD install disc somewhere at his as I bought it when it came out...but have signed up for the free copy.

BBC News - Princes William and Harry join flood effort in Berkshire Although I'm aware this could just be a PR exercise, publicity stunt, what-have-you, it's still a lot more than any of the politicians have done. There is a report that William even asked a reporter to "put down his notebook and lend a hand with the sandbags" Pro or anti-royal I still think it's a better gesture than soundbites on TV of "the people of Britain need to be strong" and such

Are we now congratulating individual portions of the forum? Can I point out it was the search bar's anniversary last week. Oh and in case I forget, Happy Birthday next week to reply button

IRQ7, DMA1, forgot what the T was? I always remember that same list coming up each time I installed a game til in the end it was known off by heart.

You want ruined? Go watch "Almost Human" - A new American show (fairly new) with the premise of cops being paired with androids. Imagine Robocop, Terminator, AI, Total Recall and all the other old sci-fi movies put in a bucket, shook up, crapped on and this is the result.

It is slightly more than just "painting two white lines on an image" though isn't it. The lines don't go over the whole image, parts of the image go behind and in front of the lines, so not just a case of get gif, paint lines, profit. Still cool nonetheless

Alienware laptop, came in at about £1900 in the end. Lasted years and could play just about any game at the time, including Half Life 2 when it came out. ended up having it perched on the sofa arm with additional mouse and used every night. same as @Dos_Box it was a beast though, when i moved it off the sofa, there was a massive dent in the fabric!

Year of Code - being led by a person who cant code...
d0pefish replied to ZeroHour's topic in General Chat
I still have reservations about what learning any coding will have on their future skills? Unless the lessons are actively engaging, it will be the same as asking a student to type up a word document. As I said earlier, if the focus will be on things like learning how lines of code flow, what to do if something goes wrong, that won't be too bad, as it might give them problem solving and logical thought processes. My bet is more the fact there will be a whole set of teaching resources aimed around "type this up and watch the funny figure dance on the screen" sort of thing. just copy paste exercises. Would be thrilled to be proved wrong -
Year of Code - being led by a person who cant code...
d0pefish replied to ZeroHour's topic in General Chat
In all seriousness, the definition of "coding" does need to be clarified for this. Are we teaching kids to code as in building HTML pages, as I thought that was already partially part of the curriculum (forgive me if I'm wrong, we don't follow the standard curriculum here). So are we now saying instead of using Serif, etc. we will now teach you HTML in notepad? At what stage would that be deemed a success? Surely all it would do is peak the interest of those wanting to look at web development anyway. Are we saying they will learn another webdev type coding? If so, to what end? Having one years experience (thinned out over X amount of lessons) will not get them a job coding, and I fail to see what skills it will give them for the future. Or are we saying some sort of desktop language? If so, good luck teaching teachers that in the first place, most struggle with Logo so dropping them in something even like Python would scare most half to death. Surely the better approach would be to teach students the fundamentals of coding....logic, planning, process, fault-finding, etc. so that they can apply these skills in life. Wrap that up in a coding lesson by all means, but don't try sugar-coating it with "teach kids to be programmers." -

September?! How stupid are you! I picked it up on a bus ride to town after reading a wiki-how article. You need to pull your socks up if you're serious about being a brain surgeon! -
[video] [Faked?] A Camera Falls From A Plane And Lands In A Pig Pen
d0pefish replied to 6Foot2's topic in Jokes/Interweb Things
As the camera falls, why near the end do you see the sky in the middle and the ground top and bottom of the screen? It's as if it's a single image that is edited to look like the TV flicker effect of images flowing down. Also when it lands, to say it lands in mud there appears to be no splatter, and the camera sits high up in the mud. I'd have thought with that drop it would have gone in a bit further (giggity) or if the mud was more solid would have cracked the lens? -
Well it was filmed like a BBC4 documentary and had some idiot rambling away so you'll understand my confusion

Or more accurately: Having one beer and not driving too bad so deciding to ride along a barrier to increase damage because the point hadn't been made. Hell, I drive worse than that and I don't drink, his point is invalid!
