Hyper-V VM's randomly losing connectivity
d0pefish replied to d0pefish's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
of the two NICs teamed up for VM traffic, disabled one and it seems to have smoothed out, so first impressions are now it was the VM traffic team having a faulty NIC. now going to see if the error lies with cabling or card. cheers for the pointers -
OK so this is our setup, and until yesterday has worked fine. 3 HyperV hosts set as a failover cluster. Each host has about 5 or 6 virtual servers on. Now as of yesterday, the servers running on Hyperv-1 failed to respond to ping requests randomly (some clients could ping a server, others timed out). If you left the ping running and live migrated the server, soon as it started on another HyperV host, all pings worked. Ping from Hyperv-1 > VM and VM > Hyperv-1 is fine, as are all pings to Hyperv-1 itself. This is only happening on this host, the other two are fine and migrating servers to them solves it. So to me, an issue with Hyperv-1 host somewhere, but where is the problem. Have tried looking at the VM adapter settings on the host, all seems fine. As I said, until yesterday this setup had worked fine, but is now causing issues. Any ideas would be welcomed as it's getting to the point of not knowing what else to try!! Just as an addition, the ping test was merely a test (it's not all that was tested), the servers appear to refuse all connections, so no network shares, no RDP, nothing. But you still have some clients that CAN get on their shares and RDP to them, so its not a complete cut-out

ah sorry, didn't realise that had changed, oh well guess i'd best not cancel then!

Another thumbs up for 3. Just got 4G at home and in work so wireless isn't needed. Haven't found a place with no signal yet, reception is spot on, phone app is helpful for account. On the One Plan, £37 a month with 2,000 mins and texts and unlimited data inc. tethering. Plus 3 let you use your data and mins abroad in certain countries as part of your package if you connect to a specific local provider. So no more massive roaming charges in certain places

Without it becoming very finnicky and pedantic, the way I saw it described elsewhere was say Dell pay employee X £12 an hour to do these things. They need to pay his wage, so this in part helps towards it. They also need to pay NI and possibly pension contributions too. If a person called you to their house to install Firefox and you said £5, is that steep because it only took you 2 minutes but you also had to drive there and back, plus you're charging for your experience and to a lesser-point the knowledge it will be done right.
-
That quote mentions the the product or its distribution cannot be charged. Dell are doing neither. They aren't charging you for Firefox and they aren't charging you to send you a CD or memory stick with it on. They are charging you for the actual labour cost of someone installing it. While the price might seem a bit high, I don't see any problem with how they are going about it. The product or distribution cannot be tied to a service fee, again technically they aren't charging you a fee for its distribution (as that would mean charging you for the installer, not the installed product) or for the product itself.

we had a parcel thrown over the side door too. unfortunately the idiot throwing it couldn't see above the 8ft brick wall surrounding the door to realise it wasn't just a wall but backed on to the roof of the outhouse. it was only when they left a note saying "over back wall" we realised. so yeah thanks yodel, i didnt mind climbing on to a roof to get a package because you're too dense to realise you can't see through walls and know what is beyond them -
Origins was dire compared to City, too short in main storyline, quite buggy (to the point of game breaking bugs), let's hope they improve on it this time, and don't focus solely on "look ma, i can drive me a batmobile"

i nearly cried last night. got to a level where two keepers team up on you and you have to destroy them then the hero. i rushed to dig out to the chokepoints so i could wall them off. had half the level to myself with gem tiles. found horned reaper, loads of mistresses. all up to lvl9/10 trained. first mistake was me dropping all mistresses in a corridor where the enemy triggered a boulder trap. crushed them all instantly! but i recovered from that.....defeated both keepers, got the heroes attacking me, no problem.....conquered the land, took just over an hour or totally destroying the enemy. got the message to say i'd won, press space to continue.....pressed it,.....nothing. game had frozen! only option to kill and reload....and it started me on that level again.

OK so not a straight switch according to the terms, but it's this:

I think it's a bit unfair to say they can't back up the 4G thing when EE or whatever they rebrand themselves as every 2 days had exclusive access to 4G then got to decide who and when to sell off bits of it. Plus Three now has the option of using your inclusive minutes and data in other countries, so it's not roaming, you are using your normal minutes and data. I'd much prefer them to O2 (who I was with for 10 years and did squat for me)
-
that's what I like about Three, no extra usage for data
-
Three didn't even need to text me, I got home last night, noticed my icon was now 4G instead of H+ Quick speedtest showed 55mb/s download speed in the local area.
-
got through the level after quite easily (partly thanks to a glitch that stopped heroes battering my door and just standing there, stopping the spawn of new ones, and giving me ages to make loads more doors and traps now on a level with two other keepers, all three of us have a gem tile so it could be interesting

I might have gone overboard in my victory. I didnt use possess but just built quick and researched the bridge first, got to their side, slowly started taking over his land and once i captured his portal that was it. in the end i'd captured the whole level apart from his lair and dungeon heart. left his bile demons sat in there healing while i used his training room to level up, and his gold to pay for it. then set off about 30 of my creatures to destroy the heart. yes, i might have gone a bit overboard
-
brought nothing over no. and i get dragons attracted quite quickly, i can get 3 or 4 within minutes. i guess i could just use a dragon to go straight over the lava regardless of level as me controlling will be better
-
that level has no side corridors. its just two islands separated by lava with a pile of gold in the middle. well, as far as i can tell
-
i know, i was just trying to hold off as long as possible until i feel i cant do it without help.....so give it ten mins!
-
We watched the first season of that too, then by the second season got bored so canned that too. we're fickle people
-
yeah, we were after new or recently new series to watch rather than mammoth backlogs
-
We're watching Almost Human too, but I wouldn't recommend it yet, it's still too.....meh! Person of Interest definitely. White Collar we scrapped after season 3 (haven't watched the latest season at all) - just got bored of it.
-
erm, cant remember the name of it, but you start at the north, other keeper at the south. you start in a square with your heart, tunnel out and its all open space with gold about, lava between you and the enemy. think its the first level you get the room where you can attract other creatures. after about 5 mins of building and mining the enemy has generally built bridges to my land, then sends over about ten bile demons, 5 wizards, a few dragons etc. all about level 3 but i only have about 6 or 7 creatures by then and they get wiped out immediately **EDIT** level is called nevergrim - http://dk.youfailit.net/mapview.php?map=images/maps/nevergrim.png

Watched Justified a bit, just couldn't get in to it. Was trying to find shows in first or second season to get in to, as we've had way too many "this is a good show, lets watch all 8 seasons this weekend" marathons!
