We have just replaced a large number of our Interactive Education whiteboards which means that we have several spares. We currently have 5 boards images attached as I have no idea the brand (working when removed) 1 board with connection issues (was never looked in to as we were replacing a week after it was reported) 5 PCB's 9 Pens - Gone box of general serial cables, power injectors and usb converters. They are all free to a good home just have to cover postage or need to collect. We will be disposing of them either way in 2 weeks time. We are in the Nottinghamshire area. We use AF computer Screen-clene, not seen it in a bottle larger than 250ml though. 1 bottle will clean through our whole site of 400 screens.

Always do but the issue is the time taken to go from reporting this to local LA Support to Capita back to us is longer than the lock lasts and nothing comes of it. The main issue I see when looking at the actual SQL query is normally accessing the Person table and pulling every bit of data out of it, sadly when this happens the Person table gets locked and nothing else happens in Sims as almost everything accesses the Person table. The problem isn't the report taking a long time the problem is the report locking certain key tables grinding Sims to a halt across the whole network.

We have the similar problems when users run large complex reports on exam data or attendance data. We run in to table locks that then cause a backlog of requests that are all waiting. We don't have it locked for as long as you only normally 5-10 minutes any more than that we locate the person and crash the report or kill the connection to the database. Don't go cheep with an SSD you will regret it as it will never last the test of time. The Samsung Evo range has been extremely reliable over the last few years, and as the others have said the 850 EVO is simply fantastic. There was a Stress test for the several SSD's I cant remember where it is right now but last time I checked the Samsung 840 pro had lasted 1.5 Petabytes of writes over a year and was still going strong with another SSD that I cant remember.

When I was trained for DSE assessments, I was told that if a person uses a desktop computer for 2 hours or more each day then they should have an assessment done every year, I don't believe that an interactive screen or whiteboard counts as part of a DSE assessment as it would automatically fail several sections of the assessment. I spend the time popping around everyone as our staff couldn't use the self assessment form, so I just read off and clarify any questions that they have. With our laptop users we offer PC's in the staff rooms for long stints and recommend that they use them, these computers have been set up by us to meet the requirements. Equipment used at home doesn't come under the schools responsibility, but it wouldn't hurt to cover some basic ergonomics in a CPD session at some point.

Hi, I used to do this a while ago been a long time since I did anything airsoft related however I might be able to help a little. Your right that you need a licence to own an airsoft rifle (at least it was the case when I owned one). Getting a licence is quite easy really, when I did it you just had to attend 6 airsoft events (hiring equipment) then have the centre fill in a form for you. As for electric or gas I would always go electric lasts longer on the field and doesn't really lose power over the long haul. Be aware though with gas you might find that your weapon might be rejected when you get it tested on site unless you keep it in good condition as the speed can vary between shots and gas levels (had a friend that was most disappointed when his sidearm was rejected granted it was delivering 3x the max power for the field).

Its a heavy handed approach but if done correctly it will work, I also don't know if its worth the time and disruption. You could Isolate the network switch, clearing the Virus as you go either through manual repair or through pc reimage. Once repaired the pc is allowed to reconnect to the infection clean network. We had to do this when we had a infection of conflicker (in the early days before it got patched out). Its a pain and will take some time, this relies on the fact that the servers are clean or can be cleaned.

We lock the door when we aren't in but we do have a window in the door so people can see that we aren't here.

As a dyslexic I took a quick look at it myself and it didn't make any difference, if anything I find it harder to read that normal fonts. The problem with dyslexia is that something that works for 1 person doesn't work for another.

@Stone_Charli No all of the calls currently are resolved and in fairness very efficiently, all but 1 call was Next Business day and all but 1 of those went off without a problem. Brought them last year, the problem when they overheat they just turn off, we can cause the problem using Prime95 and running them on the mains. After fitting a new fan redoing the thermal compound and updating the graphics driver the problem goes away, they still run hot (75-80 c) but they don't shutdown. I'm 99% sure the problem with the Motherboard isn't sorted currently as all we get is a replacement motherboard with the fuse shorted with a small bit of wire (it resolves the problem but doesn't suggest that the board design has been changed its just being modified by hand)

Not sure if you have fixed the build problems from the last batch of NT310's (cant find a letter on ours) but we have had everyone need a new CPU fan and Graphics update to fix a overheating problem and most are now requiring a new motherboard because of a blown fuse attached to the AC port. However I cant fault the on site NBD warranty and the skill of most of your techs. (that's 30 of them)

Hi, we have currently got a problem with drive mapping as well as folder redirection. Intermittently we are getting it where students home drive as well as a drive mapping to the same server are not being redirected and mapped. we get the following 2 messages; A simple logoff and back on maps the drives as well as does the folder redirection. This isn't limited to 1 pc is happening across the site but only reported from students and shifts pc's. Our setup is Windows 7 sp1 Windows server 2008R2 dc Windows server 2008r2 file server Any one have any thoughts?

I know you have rolled back but if you wanted to give it another try, we applied GPP from a windows 8 pc with RSAT (on Server 2008r2 dc's) the big thing that we got caught with is when you set the proxy setting you have to press F5 on each setting (there is a red line under it after you press F5 it goes green) god only knows why but its caught us out for a while. Our settings work for IE 10 and 11 without any problems or XML editing.

Printing for staff is unrestricted however it is recharged back to the departments here. Printing is charged at 3p for mono and 8p for colour Students get 75p per week that is cumulative week by week which is reset yearly.

If your setup is like we tried first then you might have ran in to the same problem as us. Server software on one of your servers Exams officer software on a different pc If so an you manually start the service for the server software (from memory its called EcStream) then check the application event log for Event ID 0 Source ECService It should talk about being unable to establish a trust relationship to Pearson (I've shortened it as the actual message is huge). We contacted Pearson who said its something to do with our onsite SSL certificate, in the end we installed the server software and exams offices software on the same system.

To be fair you would be surprised how far DDR2 will go. As I've said above I'm running some fairly intensive game servers with a large number of players across them, I tend to find that the Hard Disk access times are the bottle neck rather than the ram. On eBay the prices are looking like £300-£500 ish in the dell range something like a Dell PowerEdge R710 and HP Proliant DL380 G6 if your really wanting the DDR3 but I'm not sure if you really need it.

Ok so I got the servers mixed up, the Dell is a Dell PowerEdge III 2950 and is running the Hyperviser and the Hp is a HP ProLiant DL 385 Gen2 and runs the 2 FTB Minecraft servers Dell specs: 2 Quad core Intel Xeon E5430 @ 2.66 GHz 32 GB DDR2 800 Ram 6 7.2k 500GB Hard Drives running in Raid 5 with 1 hot spare HP Specs: 2 Dual Core AMD Opteron, not sure of the model @ 3.0 GHz 16 GB DDR 400 Ram 2 10k 500GB running in Raid 1, the server doesn't have any slots for more drives All of this is backup up with a 1500 APC UPS and backs up to my desktop every night (with a horrible set of scripts) Lastly my net is a BT Business line running at 76mb down and 19 up. The cost of running all of this is about £100 per month. £60 of that is on the connection. The big thing that I found running this from home was keeping it cool through the summer, during winter its not a problem, in summer the servers get quite hot but never enough to worry me or power them down.

personally I have 2 servers running at home, 1 is a Dell PowerEdge III (cant remember the model off hand) and the other is a HP ProLiant DL385p Gen8 Server, The Dell server is running 2 FTB Minecraft servers though multicraft along with a few plugins to allow it to use multiple cores running with 2 dulecore AMD CPU's running at 3ghz. The HP server is running with Vsphere hypervisor on it running 1 Ubuntu server and 1 Windows 2008 server, The Ubuntu server is running 8 Minecraft servers (housing 60-80 players at any time) the windows side is running a Dayz server, 7days to die server, No more room in hell, 2 TF2 servers and 2 Man vs Machine servers. it has 6 500gb drives running in raid 5 with a hot spare (due to the age of the server didn't trust the Hard drives but couldn't afford to replace them). The HP server was second hand brought from a user on edugeek. All these things run the cpu's at 75% across the board, uses roughly 28GB of ram (most of which is in the minecraft side). If you like when I get home tonight ill pull the specs off for you.

K9 requires a password to uninstall and if it is uninstalled you are sent an email letting you know.

+1 for K9, I use it at home and never had a problem.
