That's correct. They use the end of the power lead that the laptop manufacturer provides you with and wire it in to the power board and change the power board if it is the wrong voltage.

We had a lapsafe and it cost about £100 for the engineer to come out and remove the old laptop chargers from the trolley and then replace them with the new ones that came with the laptops.

Do you use YouTube EDU? If so, how easy is it for the Teachers to add videos they want the Students to access? What we don't want to do is make a rod for our own back by setting up YouTube Edu and then end up spending hours a day adding more and more videos that the Teachers want our Students to have access to. Thanks.

All staff have access to YouTube and the only Students who have access to it our the Sixth Form Students.

I guess it all depends on your naming convention. We use the room number plus a computer number i.e. A5-03, A5-04 etc. so in Impero we just need to add one 'computer' called A5-* and it puts all the computers that have name starting with that in the group. Nice and easy

I would imagine the Lite Touch runs it with Administrator privileges. Try right-clicking the batch file and running as Administrator.

I agree with this method. Let Windows load up to the logon screen then hold down the SHIFT key and click on the shutdown option and then when you power it back on it will give you some boot up options.

Make sure you have a warranty/service agreement on the equipment that is the same length as the lease you get. I've seen too many schools assume their equipment is covered for faults etc for the entire length of the lease when all they had was the 1 or 2 year manufacturers warranty instead of the 3 or 5 year length of lease.

We've removed it at a couple of Primary schools now. Simply stopped using it on the servers, either via uninstalling all the software or (as in one of our schools) replaced the knackered server with a new one and didnt put the software back on. The student laptops that were configured to use CC4 carried on working (albeit slowly) and as and when we had the time we imaged the student laptops with a fresh new build and they speeded up tremendously!

eBay is probably the best way. I'd never sell them to staff as even though they will be sold as seen when they have any issues (or realise how expensive the toners are) they will soon come knocking on the door and 100% of them doing so will want them to be the exception to the rule! Do a search for companies selling refurbished printers and then give them a call to see if they will buy all your printers as a job lot.

Are the servers running fast enough for you? Are you running out of RAM and/or storage? If not, then stay as you are! If they are out of warranty then discuss the matter with your line manager and explain that the servers are running fine but if any hardware fails then they'll have to stump up some cash to replace the faulty hardware/server which is cheaper than buying new servers for the sake of it.

One of our Epson N3000 Mono Laser Printers has decided to only print from the top (small) paper tray rather than the normal large paper tray at the bottom of the printer and I cannot for the life of me find the setting on the menu to change the default tray and (possibly) disable the top tray to avoid this issue. Does anyone know what the setting is and what it need to be set to please?

*PROBLEM SOLVED* Even thought the website is not blocked, on the system we have, you have to unblock the not-blocked website to get it to work!

Still unable to get this to work and the BBC website http://www.microbit.co.uk is doing the same when you click to view a tutorial. We thought we had provided a workaround for the Teacher who is using this as it looked like an IE issue so we installed FireFox in a computer suite for him to test it on the 19th of January 2016 which would rule out any IE restrictions in a GPO causing the issue. I asked him to test it and have heard no more from the Teacher... until today when they all want to use it! If we could work out what the website is trying to do at this point we could try and fix the issue but no one seems to know what the website is up to - is it going to another URL or using a port that might be blocked??? Help!

That's what I thought so came up with a list of things that are related to some of the things we do. Remember, if you cant quite get something to work then make use of Edugeek as there are loads of us here willing to help you!

So you've got a Domain Controller and a Client PC great! Have you set up DHCP so it automatically assigns an IP address and DNS settings to your client? Have you shared a printer on the server that a Pupil user can print to but cant view the print queue but a Staff user can? Have you set up a shared area that uses NTFS permissions that gives staff full control over the folder but pupils only have read only access? Have you created a logon script that has been assigned to both pupils and staff accounts that maps a drive letter to the shared area you have created? Have you set up a Group Policy that assigns the printer to a computer/user? Have you used Group Policies to restrict the control panel so pupils cant access it? Have you used a GPO to assign a desktop background to the computer? How about a message at the logon screen saying that the users must agree to the Acceptable Use Agreement before logging on? If you've not done the things above then give them a go! It should be great fun for you to work out how to do them if it's not something you've done yet.

That's why we never set up emailing out of the violations - until now that is! You can now do it in bulk making what would turn out to be a right PITA very simple! You can make bulk changes like adding an email address to all of the keywords you want to be notified about.

The only time I've seen it removed is when you use a GPO to prompt for a username and password each time.
