  1. We have our 2 wordpress sites, main school and sixthform and they are hosted with Vidahost.
  2. I have 79 hikvisioncameras (a mix of internal and external) and i use Luxriot. It links with AD quite well sand you can be quite granular with permissions.
  3. +1 for freshdesk. Really good product. I pay a little more for the reporting side.
  4. I've just had this sent to me by my current support company (who initially installed the schools aging Meru wifi)... Ubiquity is cheap and cheerful, quite literally there is no support apart from online forums and if it breaks buy a new one. However, it does have its place in the market and if you’re looking at those lower dense requirements it will do a job. No, it won’t compete on performance against the big boys such as Meru, Ruckus, Aruba etc but if you’ve only got a handful of devices are you really going to notice the difference?
  5. Hi Guys, I'm dipping my toe into the shark-infested pool of staff IT surveys. Previously i have asked very general questions, which seems to open the floodgates of moaning and groaning about how "nothing ever works" (but we all know it does and it's most likely that you haven't turned your proxies on) anyway, back to the question.... Has anyone got a set of questions that have been successful? I'm looking for broad statements with an "agree, disagree" response. The main reason for the surveys is to find out if staff would prefer a desktop in each classroom but i can't just ask outright because they don't like change and will instantly become defensive and 'Strongly Disagree' with it. Any help would be much appreciated. -Jam
  6. @AJWhite did you do the install yourself? how did you decide on AP placement? How does the unifi deal with roaming devices, passing from Ap to AP?
  7. This will be my first time rolling out a wifi solution, so as you can imagine i'm quite apprehensive! I've just been looking at Ekahau, have you used it? is it something that is going to take months to learn or is it something that i can pickup quite quickly? If you have used it, which elements did you use? (i.e. heatmapper, spectrum analyser) thanks
  8. Hp Procurve switches accros the site. Core is is a 5406zl and edge switches are 2510 and 2520(poe). 10gb backbone.
  9. Hi all, Just wondering if anyone out there is using unifi for their wireless? I'm looking for some feedback on performance etc. I'm a secondary school with 1350 students no BYOD (yet). All staff have a laptop (180) and move room to room, building to building throughout the day. I'm particularly interested in knowing how it 'hands off' form one AP to the next. I have just purchased 5 AC HD units, with a view to trialing in our Sixth form building. Thanks in advance
  10. Intel compute stick Any cheap tv xibo Works like a dream.
  11. Th issue i have, (and we are in the exact same boat as you) if OFSTED were to come in, would you get away with having a product that can prevent safeguarding issues but that it isn't used to because it's too much work. Currently we capture hundreds of screenshots a day but nobody looks at them...
  12. Tried to ring you this morning but the line was constantly engaged for about an hour! @Mic_Impero gave me your contact before summer (hi @Mic_Impero, it's Jamie!). Just for info, i understand how the safeguarding element works but its my understanding that IT folk(like myself) should not be the one's dealing with the captures. I would like to see a system were pastoral staff are involved and the process' they use. Does that still apply to you @RichCowell? Thanks for the replies so far
  13. Hi guys, I'm trying to find a school that has Impero implemented correctly and by that, i mean, not just as a 'techie tool' but the full safeguarding shebang! Is there anyone out there who has the procedures in place to deal with all the captures, false-positives and general safeguarding issues that arise from the use of the software? If there is, i'm ultimately looking to come and see it in operation but i'm also up for some discussion. Thanks in advance
  14. I went up to the Bowland brewery a couple of weeks ago - i can highly recommend a trip around the 42 hand pumps!
  15. I use https://dovestones.com/
  16. Same. Also have a 'high availability' schedule that runs every 30 mins between 8:30 and 5:30 on weekdays for servers with high impact changes, such as finance, sql server (sharepoint). so we never loose more than 30 mins worth of work.
  17. I have just renewed and paid 2 socket bundle vmware essentials ent £286 x3 = £858
  18. Well, after a very helpful member of the netsupport team contacted me, it seems that the deploy tool may have a few issues with newer networks. The workaround is to deploy via GPO while we wait for Netsupport to include their latest deploy tool (12) into the notify product. For anyone who comes searching with the similar issue, try downloading the netsupport manager trial and just installing the deploy tool (which is the latest edition) and check to see if it finds your computers and names them.
  19. Same vlan If i try the Windows Networking tab, it returns just servers with statically assigned ips.
  20. Tried this ^ no joy i'm afraid but thanks! - - - Updated - - - I have already been through support and they were unable to help.
  21. Hi all, I recently took advantage of the offer that was posted for 150 free licenses. I received my details and have began setting up te software; however, i have come across a strange issue. When using the deploy tool, i add an IP range and click search and it doesn't return any computer names except a few apple devices! even DNS names aren't fully resolved. I have installed the server tool on my domain controller, disabled anti-virus and opened port 137 UDP as per the netsupport, support recommendation. Has anyone else come across this when installing the software? Screenshot:
  22. I'd have to agree with you there. It can be good but i find it's not a big fan of change.
  23. +1 for Hikvision! We use Luxriot to manage the cameras.
  24. @unixman_again do we work in the same school?
  25. We use asset number. When i came to the school they used to be named after the teacher that owned them (JBLOGGS).
