The requirement says "capacity to deliver 1Gbps download and upload speed." So, you must be able to supply download and upload speed of 1Gbps but doesn't stipulate what minimum speed should be supplied. Seems a bit silly, but it is there in black and white. If you get a fatter pipe, you will have the capacity to supply 1Gbps but I'm not sure why they didn't set a minimum like they did for Primary.

I have had to do this a couple of times. First take stock of where you are, a state of play report. Cover everything you can: Severs, storage, infrastructure, Wi-Fi, PCs, Laptops, tablets, systems, subscriptions, staffing, the lot. Evaluate them fairly and include things like replacement schedules, renewals, end of life notices, etc. From that you will have an idea of what you need to do and what you want to do. Then break it down in to 3 year periods. This way you have a case for anything you propose you can evaluate progress and you have a CYA document if they reject your plan and it all goes wrong Drop me a DM with your email and I can send you my mega strategy document. I'm not saying it is perfect but you can use it as a template at least.

Bodet is one I have looked at in the past. Has come along quite a lot since I first looked at them. @Net-Ctrl deal with them I was involved with a Netgenium system and it was fab but not the simplest to deal with and wasn't as happy handing any control over to staff.

Yeah, Hootsuite is what I have used in the past. Great app and website. But if you use it seriously you pay through the nose. With that number of accounts though it may well work out to be cost effective due to time saved. It does things like show and alert on hashtags or replies or keywords. It is great for heading off social media issues, if they do that.

Bit off topic sorry but something that has been rattling around my head. I have very limited knowledge of blockchain but would it be suited to certificates or course accreditations? Could it be the future of exam results, you supply your academic wallet and your employer could check your credentials to see if you really did get that Diploma or pass that safety course?

It has been a while since I have looked at this so please double check as I may be incorrect and it may have changed. To create you do not need a license. If you want to create dashboards to share you need a license per user that creates the dashboard. If you want to collaborate on a dashboard every person that wants to work on it needs a license. The user reading the dashboard does not need a license. But remember, you only need a license to share a live, interactive dashboard or collaborate on the creation. You can export as a PDF and publish to others, you just obviously lose the ability to interact with the data. Cost wise, I'm seeing £1.85 per user per month on my portal for Pro for Faculty. Not sure what difference there is between that and Premium for faculty (£3.70) though.

We do similar to most. Year they will be or were Y7, first 5 of surname, first 2 of first name. No spaces. Only had 2 duplicates due to very unimaginative parents who named their twins very similar names. Means we can organise by year groups, no username is too long, we can programatically get usernames from a list and the staff and pupils can work them out for themselves. Considering when I joined they were using the same system as staff (initial and surname) and the number of clashes were ridiculous it is much better.

I had something similar at my last place. I was very lucky the head of estates had decided to go around with a laser measure and draw plans of each floor and map it out in Visio. I then did as Frodo said and created layers for each thing, sockets, printers, switches, cabs, etc. I colour coded network sockets and cabs so you could easily see where they went back to without lines. I'd love to do an area map here like jthompson but you would end up with some weird surrealist product as differnet parts of a single room would be multicoloured!!

Last I heard Copilot was £23 per user per month. Makes it fairly limited in my opinion.

This is what I don't understand. If it was bookings for a test or an event I can see numbers being an issue if you misestimated demand. But they know the number of pupils and when they are starting!!

There isn't a formula (that I know of) that will highlight part of the text in a cell. You would need to write a VB script. The alternative is to create a new column and search for the phone number format, extract it and colour the cell if not empty.

Do you mean you want the cell highlighted if it contains a phone number? Or just the phone number highlighted?

Hi, With the license, would it cover us to install on pupil's devices? We are looking at running mock or end of year exams on their own devices with ExamWritePad, will be purcahsing the license but want to ensure we aren't going to break teh license. It may have been discussed already but how is the license deployed? Many thanks

You could argue that it is doing harm by desensitising staff and leading to staff just ticking or signing regardless and not reading or understanding what has been sent out. My view is, if a policy is changed or updated, staff should be informed. Staff should be reminded of their responsibilites and where to find policies. But I am not a lawyer, if it makes you and the school feel like something is being done then that may be benefit enough.

Sorry but none of that relates to making sure staff remember policies, just that training should be kept up to date if using it as a statutory defence. In fact the main part of Allay v Gehlen is that even though the training was recent the actual training was stale. So you could argue that just sending out the same AUP evey year makes it stale and ineffective.

I've never heard of this one. Do you have a case or a source for this? I agree with Pete, if there are changes you have to inform staff but I was always under the impression that if nothing changes you don't need to keep bombarding people, though a reminder on important bits is always a good idea.

I have no official source but that is what I have determined. Adding it to HTTPS Bypass normal stops it being red.

200 is an allowed, so probably not part of a category list. The wierd one is if you get a 200 but it is red. I'm pretty certain that is showing it is having issues with HTTPS interception. if a lot of unathenticated IPs, either your authentication isn't working, you have a lot of devices that don't use authentication or you have a lot of entries in your Bypass Auth category.

I'd only agree if your policies aren't available on your intranet/SharePoint. Otherwise staff should make themselves aware of company policies. Always good to send out reminders, but ignorance of a policy is not a defence. With pupils, have them up on the IT room wall or in key places. Otherwise

I did in the past but stopped as my machine would be the worst to be compromised and potentially the most likely. It is also a good reminder what staff have to deal with so can flag errors or ssues before the staff notice or it becomes too much of an issue.
