Automatically enable/disable out-of-office messages
ollyyllo replied to enjay's topic in Office Software
Have you thought about setting up a Microsoft Flow? No idea if this would work and haven't tested it. If the end time of the scheduled automatic reply is set to getFutureTime(4, 'Day') it'll be setup on Friday, be disabled by Tuesday, then trigger again the next Friday -
Here a few changes you might want to check out, irrelevant of your deployment method, I didn't have to do any of these for windows 7 De-provision unwanted apps such as candy crush so they don't install for new users (improved initial logon times) Disable the first logon animation (improved initial logon times) Disable Windows Store or set up a private store (so people can't reinstall candy crush) Disable the file explorer ads Turn off lock screen ads or disable the lock screen Enable BitLocker files on demand (reduces local store requirements) Install BitLocker as per machine install (improved logon times / performance after logon)

[1903, au] Windows 10 v1903 (19H1) now available from MSDN
ollyyllo replied to Arthur's topic in Windows 10
It looks like this update kb4503293 from June 11th fixes the issue. Doesn't say anything about it in the notes, but after installing it Computer Management now opens up when I click Manage. -
I am having issues with a HP PageWide Pro 477dw MFP when trying to use the 'Scan to Network' feature. Looking for some troubleshooting advice as I am stumped, or hopefully someone else who can replicated the problem. The issue... The printer has the most recent firmware version 1908C from 11th April 2019 I have set up Scan to Network as per the firmware readme e.g. Network Location Using Fully Qualified Domain Name: \\machinename.domain.yourcorpname.net\scantonetworkfoldername\ Username including Domain Name: DOMAIN\username This is all fine and I can scan to the network folder, but... After seemingly a random amount of time I start getting 'Unable to connect to network, check the network, and then try again' and it doesn't scan the document. If I scan the page again without doing anything else it will scan and send the document to the file share. This is not so bad as you can scan the document but sometimes it does this every other scan and is very frustrating. But the bigger issue is that eventually it will stop scanning altogether, the control panel freezes and printing then also stops working. There is no way to turn the printer off, the power button doesn't do anything, it says shutting down but never does, I have to turn it off at the plug. Once it boots up again it will work as normal then eventually start misbehaving. HP have sent a replacement printer but it has the same issue. HP are suggesting it is a problem with the network or setup, I don't know what it could be though, all the other photocopiers scan fine using the same credentials, and if it was a problem with the network why would that cause the printer to become unresponsive? The one thing I have noticed is I can always force the connection error to appear after the printer has woken up from standby mode. I did set the standby mode to 'Never', at first that seemed to alleviate the problem, but it has now started to play up again. Has anyone else experienced this problem? if you have this model and run this firmware version I would be very grateful if you are able to replicate the problem! HP have asked me to change the IP address and use dynamic rather than static, it has made no difference. What else can I check? Thanks

Weird rendering issue of website - can you check my sanity please?
ollyyllo replied to kennysarmy's topic in Windows 10
Both designs respond correctly when set as a mobile view in the dev tools for firefox and chrome. I would guess neither is a mobile version, rather the site has a responsive design. So maybe they are transitioning to a different look or doing some sort of AB testing? This might be the older look as this link is broken, for me anyway, and isn't even on the other version. -

Office 365 smtp stopped working
ollyyllo replied to steveg's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Its working here, just sent a scan from the photocopier. If its affecting 2 separate mailboxes then its unlikely to be a password change or the configurations. Are the mailboxes still licensed? -
Just ran an install with /allusers, they ended up here... C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft OneDrive\BuildNumber\adm

Can't search attachments on "The new Outlook"
ollyyllo replied to ollyyllo's topic in Cloud Services
Thanks Marci, this is good to know, I found some threads of people complaining about how useless the search was but not necessarily saying it was outright broken. -

Thanks, that's what I wanted to rule out. Ye, plenty of space left. -
In the Office 365 OWA there is a little toggle that lets users enable "The new Outlook" So, after enabling it, when I create a new email, attach a file and browse from cloud locations There is now a box to search your OneDrive folders, Which is great but... I cant get it to work, whatever I type in it just stays in the list view, nothing happens Tried on different browsers, accounts and computers. It just doesn't seem to do anything Thought it might be a problem with indexing but search works fine everywhere else. First question, does anyone else have the same problem? Any ideas why I cant get it to work, I'm at a loss? Thanks

Yeah I think your right, the link on the secure score page is wrong If i go to https://outlook.office365.com/ecp/Reporting/NonOwnerAccessReport.aspx I can sign in and everything looks normal
-
Its now letting me view and use the search and the results are as expected. But.. at the end of the url the 'tenant.onmicrosoft.com' bit is for someone else. Is your url correct?
-
Can someone check this on their Office 365 tenant please. Microsoft Secure Score > Review mailbox access by non-owners bi-weekly > Learn More > Review Where does that link take you? Mine seems to be pointing to a different tenant.

Mabye it is because Windows 10 S is now a mode you can switch to. Not tried it myself https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/manufacture/desktop/windows-10-s-enable-s-mode Bear this in mind if you want to switch between the 2 modes... https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/windows-10-pro-in-s-mode

Are they on windows 7? Updates KB4480970 and KB4480960 are causing problems https://www.zdnet.com/article/microsofts-killer-windows-7-patch-breaks-networking-bricks-legit-not-genuine-pcs/

I'm not having any problems with 1803, doing it the way you describe. Are you testing with a customised startlayout applied? If its loading the default StartLayout.xml it'll reinstall any app that referenced in that file.

OneDrive Sync - Filling up C drive on local machines in network.
ollyyllo replied to PHAICT2's topic in Cloud Services
There is a GPO for Files on Demand, you need to be running Windows 10 1709 or above. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/onedrive/use-group-policy#FilesOnDemandEnabled Computer Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates > OneDrive > Enable OneDrive Files On-Demand That will still use up some space and may be a problem over time, as they access more files.- 7 replies

ollyyllo replied to TJ-Diggers's topic in Windows 10
you say you not redirecting the start menu, but are you redirecting appdata? If so %appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs is where the apps will get pulled from- 4 replies

Microsoft releases Office 2019 for Windows and Mac
ollyyllo replied to Zoom7000's topic in Office Software
Thought I would add this as I googled it but couldn't find this info. You can uninstall or reinstall individual apps by rerunning the 'setup /configure configuration.xml' command, office will stay activated. Just add or remove the tag to your configuration.xml as required, then run the command again. Also, as it not completely obvious, the ID for OneDrive for Business is Groove, and Skype for Business is Lync.
