Any idea why it would just be the one printer though? We have the same printer throughout the school in different wings. This one is the only one having this issue. Everyone else can print to their respective printers without issue.
-
Hoping someone can help as I'm going nuts on this issue. In each wing of our school we have a networked printer shared to roughly 3-4 classrooms. Everything is working with the exception of two iMacs that print to the same printer (Okidata B411dn). Those particular iMacs are spitting out pages and pages of nothing but wingdings font. I even wiped the one iMac and restored our faculty image (which all have), with the same result. Any ideas?

I want to create a small lab of 4 PCs. I just launched AD here at the school and want to start setting up GPOs. The majority of our machines are Macs that while connect to AD (for user authentication) are not managed via AD. Can anyonen suggest good lab settings for elementary (primary) school? I'd like to: -disable right-click on desktop -lock out start menu -only allow them to launch programs on the desktop -restrict USB drives -restrict any access to install software

Hello all, I am brand new to the world of setting up GPO. Can anyone recommend a good K-6 template for a Computer lab that I can work off of?

I've traced the issue back to the wifi profile not saving the correct encryption. I keep changing it to TKIP and for some reason it keeps reverting back to AES. I have even deleted the SSID information and gone back to re-add it.

Anyone else have issues with printing PDFs?

I have to identical Dell Latitude E6440s one for our Superintendent and the other for our Principal. The Super's laptop wifi has been rock solid with no issues. The principal's however is dropping connection when undocked constantly. He'll be in a room doing an observation and the wifi will drop out completely. The both had the same driver installed but I did upgrade his recently to see if anything changed. He is now running v15.13.0.2 for the Intel Ultimate 6300. One thing I do keep noticing is that his security type keeps switching back to AES. I had to switch our wifi over to TKIP due to issues with our HP Chromebooks. I keep changing the setting on the wifi preferences to TKIP, but they keep switching back. Any ideas as to what could possibly be going on here?

Sadly I've already tried those steps. I went into CUPS and AuthInfoRequired is set to negotiate.

The two printers are an M551 and an M451. Edit: Happening now on our M401 as well. The M551 and M401 are all printed to from Macs. I'm wondering if there is an issue with our Mac server. Edit2: Just had a teacher print a 10 page doc from Pages in color and it shot out of the printer. Wondering if this is now related to PDFs specifically.

I have our Mac users pulling printer queues from our Mac mini. The printer queues are pulled from AD on the mini then pushed out using Profile Manager. This is working with one small issue, each time a user tries to print it's asking for authentication. If the user is logged in using their AD credentials, how can I get the printer to stop asking for them?

I have two color laser printers that are printing very slow. For instance if there is a 10 page document, it will print 2 pages then wait (30-60 sec), print another few, then wait again. It's maddening. I have seen this printing both from Mac and PC. I have the latest version of the drivers on the Mac server as well as the AD server.

I could install it on the VM. At this point I've already setup 4 manually and have 3 more to go, so it really is not a lot. Edit: Can you install Fog on a mac? I have an older xserve I can use.

Hi all, we are mostly a Mac school here but all our admins are on PCs. I purchased a few new PCs that I'd like to image. What free tool out there are you using that will just let me image one then push it out to the others?

I can upgrade to the 6Gbps drives (1TB 7.2K RPM Near-Line SAS 6Gbps 3.5in Cabled Hard Drive) for only $80/per. Seems reasonable.
-
My other option is a 1TB Near-Line SAS drive which is 6gbs. I thought 3 was a little slow as well.

I've never had to build a server before so I'm asking the experts here. I would like to integrate AD this summer with our OD server. We have a Mac Mini ready to be setup as our new OD server to replace the aging Xserve. This server will run approximately 450 users in AD. Right now we have two 1TB drives in RAID as storage for home directories. I want to increase the storage for users and add more space for backups. The applications right now that I plan to use in a VM are PaperCut and our Voicemail system. I'd prefer a 5 year solution. This server is currently what I've decided on, just want to get some opinions. I do not have the funds available for SAS drives unfortunately.

I was told by another Tech coord that if you turn on automatic app downloads, it'll work as advertised. However, how does Meraki know which account to send it to?
-
For those that use the Meraki MDM, can you explain something. If I push out a free app to all our iPad carts, do I then have to go login to each iPad with our AppleID for that app to come through?

I made a Google+ Community for all Mac Admins if anyone is interested in joining. https://plus.google.com/communities/102022295483398543894

They're all set to network time. I checked the computer that won't logon and the time was correct. I tried unbinding and rebinding it, and still no luck. This computer is still running Leopard so I'm going to update it to at least SL to see if that helps.
-
Getting a few instances where the computer will go right into the local admin account. At first it was on the ones that I had just upgraded, so I assumed it was an issue with the upgrade to Mountain Lion. Now I'm seeing this happen sporadically on machines that have not been upgraded and are running Snow Leopard or Leopard. Each time I check the network account server, I have a green light. I have been unbinding them and rebinding them. Some have worked and others still won't connect. Our Xserve is running Server 10.6.8. Any suggestions?

OK I think I may have found the issue. I have a bunch of queues that are showing up even though only two exist in WGM. The only two queues that are needed are the last two. How can I delete these old ones? http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/6864/fmy4.png

I've been upgrading all our iMacs to Mt Lion this week. I've done about 8 successfully but hit an issue with the latest one. After the upgrade the computer won't bring up the login screen. I've checked the group in WGM and it is set correctly. All the other computers in the group connect fine. I even deleted the computer and re added it. Still nothing, just boots right into the local admin. I tried rebinding it to the network account server and still no luck. It just goes right into the local admin account every time. Never even brings up a login screen. It does have a green dot for the network account server, so it sees it fine. It just won't bring up the login screen.
