  1. I have no choice of options, this is all that shows up. http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/7158/j2uq.png
  2. Started happening again this morning. I looked at the drivers and there are no options at all. I can only choose the tray, if it's a duplex unit, and how much memory is installed.
  3. Ok I have another issue. Starting ActivInspire is taking at least 7-10 minutes for teachers. Apparently this also has been going on for some time and they just sort of "expect it". Any ideas what the heck is going on here?
  4. I guess I should add that we're all on Mac and most of the teachers with boards are on 10.6.8. I will be upgrading them all to ML over the next few weeks. I'm not sure if my predecessor setup app redirection.
  5. I will check on the first few suggestions, but I can tell you about the last one. I have a teacher that is in a test workgroup I created with no application restrictions, however he is not a full admin. None of the teachers will get full admin, but in his case he also had severe slowdown. I was told by a few of our teachers this has been going on for a few years. I just started here a few months ago but it seems to be an intermittent issue.
  6. I know this thread is REALLY old but we're seeing the same issues. I had reports from a number of teachers today that said it took forever for ActivInspire to load and switching between tools takes forever. I have updated a few machines to the latest software/firmware but they are having the issue as well. Some machines are at the logo screen for a few minutes before the flames move up and load the program.
  7. Ok it started today now with the HP so perhaps it isn't a driver issue.
  8. Is anyone using a Fortinet firewall? I'm having issues with unblocking certain website for teachers. Some profiles are working and others are still blocking even though they're set to allow.
  9. It has to be the driver (even though I'm using theirs). Every user also gets an error that the printer is out of paper even though it isn't and prints fine.
  10. I don't seem to have any issues with our color laser (HP). Constant issues with this Xerox though.
  11. OK thanks. I had a teacher try to print this morning and it was paused. I hit resume and it said they were not in the print operator group (or something to that effect). Once I hit resume I had to login as an admin. After that all the stuck jobs for the past few days were spit out.
  12. On our lab machines randomly users will get that the printer is paused. One user can get the error that the printer is paused but the person next to them might be able to print fine. Also, all our teachers have access to the printer from their room and no one has complained about this error. So it seems to only be occurring in the lab. Anyone ever have this issue?
  13. They don't have access to terminal currently so I'll have to see how else I can do that. Edit: Scratch that, looks like they do have permission for terminal. (I should probably change that) Ok I found the issue. Looks like the person before me had permissions set for both the usergroup AND the computer group for applications. So when I turned off the usergroup permissions it then defaulted to the computer group. Not sure why she set both of them. Applications should only be controlled by the usergroup correct?

Let me know how you make out Rob, I want to do the same. I was able to stop the ksadmin permission errors but I had to run the command from terminal as the user. When I tried to do it via ARD it didn't seem to really go through.
  15. Has anyone found a way via ARD or WGM to disable the beep on all machines at once? In our lab they're having a grand time during testing playing with the volume key.
  16. I ran the unix command via ARD to two of the affected machines, but they still have no access to any programs or even their documents.
  17. Just a quick question. I setup a test workgroup so I can get permissions figured out. I have a few teachers helping me test. I turned off application management and now they don't have permission to access any programs. If I turn off management of applications, shouldn't that give them FULL access?
  18. Server is 10.6.8 and so is the client.
  19. Maybe I'm going about the process incorrectly but this is how I setup our HP printer which works great. 1) installed drivers on the server (or my machine) from the internet 2) Go to Server Admin>printers>Add queue 3) Setup queue It's not prompting me for Rosetta but after installation of the drivers it said it was required. However, when I created the queue the specific drivers were not in the list.
  20. I have a new Okidata B411dn that I'm testing for our teachers. I have the printer queue setup in WGM and they all see the printer. Hwoever, when printing it's just spitting out blank pages or lines of code. I think it may be the driver since it just pulls in the generic PCL one. I installed the software for the printer on the server to pull the correct driver but it's saying it needs Rosetta to work. I have no disc drive to use our SL disc. Is there a free app I can download that will trigger the Internet download of Rosetta? I have to say after going through the setup of this printer, I'm not a big fan so far.
  21. I was able to fix the issue but unfortunately not in time to avoid a tech call. I had three machines that would absolutely not connect to the server even after rebinding it. Turns out I was the idiot. I was working in one of the workgroups for our 6th Grade Macbooks which is now all Chromebooks. I'm repurposing the old Macbooks to give most of our teachers another student computer in their rooms. When I deleted all the users in the laptop group I did not realize that my predecessor had put the two faculty DESKTOPS in that group as well. Once I finally realized this and rebound them, they were back up. The other lab computer turned out was the Apple Tech's issue. That computer was worked on during the summer and he informed me that the video card needed to be replaced. In the process of determining which piece of hardware was giving us issues he must have replaced the main board which gave the computer a new mac address. All of this was going on our first day of testing too. It was a fun day....
  22. This one definitely has me stumped. I have 24 computers in our lab and one will not connect to the OD server. It gets a login screen but if a user logs themselves in, it's just local. I also have a few teachers having the same issue. However their computers log right into the admin profile which they shouldn't have access to (it's passworded).
  23. The server is running 10.6.8 and the clients are all running 10.7.5 (in the lab at least). The other faculty machines are all over the place some are 10.5 and others are 10.6.
  24. I tested this today on one of our lab computers. I got: lpadmin: The printer or class does not exist. lpadmin: The printer or class does not exist. Printer System Reset
  25. I know whispercast is an option but if you use Whispercast you cannot use account balances as payment. We have a rather large credit right now. I know some publishers allow you to download the book on up to 5 devices. How does your school do it?
