  1. Yep, all settings are showing English UK and our date format. I have checked the settings in Word, regional settings on the pc spell check regional settings etc. All set to UK.
  2. I tried to enter a date on the cover page on word 2010 byt it keep reverting to the US format. I have checked all the settings in word and on the pc, is it a glitch?
  3. I never see my desktop do it has been left as is...
  4. Just discovered that EA games will replace the disk for a tenner if I send it back. Better than another 40 Quid! I think we will go down the route of putting them onto a HDD, however due to my 1.5Mb broadband, downloading isn't brilliant.
  5. Hmm, seems like catch 22, get a copy of the disk but lose xbox live.., I think pc gaming route is looking like a more viable option in the future.
  6. Flippin' Microsoft! GRRR
  7. I have just been handed one of my sons £40 new game with a scratch 5mm in from the outside edge, (all the way around.) I'm sure this has happened inside the Xbox drive. Is there a way I can backup the disks as it seems like a very expensive business to buy another disk each time. Has anyone tried the backup sites? How about this option? I am not trying to do anything illegal , just a way of preserving the original. Also, has anyone else had problems with their console in this way?
  8. I agree, it seems like dated technology to me, I don't think teaching how to use software is the answer, how to code would be more useful. I suppose it depends whether they are being taught computer science or web design skills...
  9. I see Sheldon is looking somewhat unimpressed.
  10. Is that your 3 and 1/2 penneth?
  11. Hear Hear! I am looking forward to the two weeks off, NO remoting in, just peace and relaxation.
  12. Colourful address
  13. If our teachers want them moved up or down we do it, if the previous teacher was 6 foot 5 and their replacement turned out to be 4 foot 11 there would obviously be problems. Anyway, the board is fixed to the wall so I don't think the regs apply. It needs to be use usable and bureaucracy for the sake of 30 cm seems a bit petty to me.
  14. PM me, we have 2 that are not used anymore.
  15. We use Dell Vostro i3 touchscreens and they seem quite robust.
  16. I use Facebook sparingly, with security on, minimal info supplied... if correct at that, just to see what my children are up to, Twitter the same and I do not link my phone onto any site. I stopped giving my mobile number out when taking insurance policies out. I'm not paranoid, I just can't help it if everyone is out to get me....
  17. Can I ask which method you used to run these programs? We are using VMware and wondered if there was a better solution.
  18. Interesting WiFi naming, could be rather amusing.
  19. Ok, we install VM ware on the pc and they log into the network as usual, run the VM and select the VM image we created as a stand alone and stashed in c:/program files, give write permissions to the folder too.. They can't access the network through the VM as we disabled the networking using the Workstation 5 toolkit. (Enable system save state, change settings and save, disable saving system state. They can run anything on the VM as they are administrators. The files they create are saved and dragged and dropped/copied from VM to their user area, this is backed up normally and enables printing, copied back into VM next lesson. Fiddly to set up but works well.
  20. Same here, or rather we didn't want them running exe's. We found no problem with Scratch and Greenfoot but had to use VMware for Small Basic and Visual Basic. As far as we are aware it works fine.
  21. We use wordpad and use AB tutor control to disable MSword.exe from running.
  22. I have only heard good reports about this, there again we live rurally and the alternative is grim. We can't watch iplayer or youtube in the evenings! Really annoying when you are charged the same as the towns who receive 24mbs....
  23. Yes, only serves North West and Cumbrian schools.
