  1. I'd remove the email address now if I were you. Wes
  2. Has anyone achieved this at all? If so could you give me some advice as to how I would set this up? Wes
  3. Has anyone setup something using their VLE to achieve this at all? Still looking into sorting this out in a more appropriate way and this might be the best solution. Wes
  4. Isn't there a setting in the GPO I seem to remember for allowing LDAP access something to do with NT4 compatibility? Wes
  5. Does anyone have a how to guide or suggestions on how to get a specific directory within the www root folder to have access only to people with a domain account? Wes
  6. Just putting the finishing touches to our Moodle 2 install currently running 1.9.x but this new one has web shares, openoffice integration (OpenOffice actually runs on the site itself), Red Pen (online marking system), Mahara E-Portfolio integration, Sims Integration looks like I may be able to ditch the Sharepoint system at this rate should be ready for the New term once it is I can give you guest/student access to it if you wish? Wes
  7. I'm playing around with an old Excel Spreadsheet to give it a little more functionality. The 5 a side league I play in has two divisions currently First Division has 10 teams and Second Division has 9. I want all the teams in either division to play at least 1 game, 1 team will of course have to play 2 games on that particular night. I've set the spreadsheet up to take upto 35 teams per division the sheet with all the team names has details of how many teams are in each division (three divisions maximum) what I would like to know is has anyone ever written an algorithm to setup fixtures until all teams have played each other at least once possibly twice (depending on what you would enter in a cell on the main sheet)? Or could anyone help me find some information on how to start this? Wes
  8. With ThinStation installed a very cheap ThinClient? Theres bound to be a port of it for this at some point. Wes
  9. ICT Direct one of the sponsors does these. We did it over the summer needs a little more time to sort out than brand new units but it is worth it. Wes
  10. I can't see this as the teachers fault how many software developers out there know every syntax language ever written and can comprehend all the naunces of code? I've done software development at a company many moons ago and it takes very little time to learn a new language syntax if you have one or two under your belt however understanding the program itself takes considerably longer. I'm not trying be nasty to the Year 10 kid who wrote the iApp but he went back and commented the code afterwards? By the looks of it he's a very talented programmer but uncommented code really? I thought you got taught that in your first computing lessons (must be mistaken) how else are you going to find out what it does after going back to it a year or so later without having to re-read the entire thing. Didn't the teacher have set guidelines on what the kids could use to develop this multimedia assignment? If so it needed to be in a language (s)he knew or could with the minimum of fuss work out. Wes
  11. Currently we are following these guidelines for our coursework: Work produced over several sessions must be collected at the end of each session and stored securely Work produced electronically must be saved securely so it cannot be amended between sessions (or memory sticks collected) However our solution isn't particularly elegant I would like to ask what have you done in a similar vein? Preferably someway that doesn't allow them to bend the rules easily as theoretically our way if they where devious enough they might be able to? Wes
  12. The system it uses to communicate to SQL is.
  13. Think that is seperate from the main SIMS operations. The audit trail is one of the things we've been requesting for years. Wes
  14. The way SIMS works with SQL there is no way of finding out which specific user changed things in say the Students details, profiles, assessment or behaviour which I have to agree with Pete that it's far from satisfactory in this regard not much we can do about it though sadly. Wes
  15. Sadly even Postgresql didn't fix it but if I put the entity field in description not ID Number then it works obviously a problem with the ID number field between versions 1.9 and 2.1.2. Solved! Wes
  16. Are you using the LDAL Plugin or the LDAP capture plugin?
  17. I'll let him know thanks John.
  18. They went to Prodesktop 8 even tried out ProEngineer I think but I get the feeling he'd prefer to move to SolidWorks. Think they were just waiting for the day it wouldn't work tbh. Wes
  19. We've been using this software for sometime now however although it runs in Windows 7 some of the features just don't work anymore can anyone tell me whether this or ProDesktop 8 is compatible with Windows 7 I think the support for these products is now dried up so if it isn't compatible what recommendations could you give me to replace it? Wes
  20. Think I may have tracked the offending thing down now I had set the ID Number to a special AD field setup by our MIS system if I remove this the issue goes away? I think postgre maybe needed here as it seems to be an issue caused by MySQL and the UTF8_collation? Wes
  21. Debug info: Stack trace: * line 394 of /lib/dml/moodle_database.php: dml_write_exception thrown * line 843 of /lib/dml/mysqli_native_moodle_database.php: call to moodle_database->query_end() * line 885 of /lib/dml/mysqli_native_moodle_database.php: call to mysqli_native_moodle_database->insert_record_raw() * line 3468 of /lib/moodlelib.php: call to mysqli_native_moodle_database->insert_record() * line 3749 of /lib/moodlelib.php: call to create_user_record() * line 133 of /login/index.php: call to authenticate_user_login() interestingly if I try and login as myself or a staff member and deliberately enter the wrong password it just states invalid login as it should? Wes
  22. I've recently setup a development server for Moodle 2 I have configured the settings for LDAP to work (same as my Moodle 1.9 version) "I" try logging in and get an error stating error writing to database however if I log in as a test pupil this doesn't occur? I've created several Moodle 2 servers (all exhibiting this behaviour) so I thought it must be my fault and downloaded an ISO of TurnKey Moodle Appliance and tried this same error? I'll post up the debug error message in a minute. Any thoughts? Wes
  23. Well once I'd reinstalled the MD3000i management software (as a local administrator go figure) I was able to look at the settings for this box. It was the settings it needed the new host added to the hosts group via its iSCSI IQN slightly annoying but thankfully everything now connects! Thanks! Wes
  24. Has anyone got any thoughts on how I could display current helpdesk tickets from our GLPI site using a simple windows app or plugin? Wes
