Been running free version here since 2014. Costs are domain name £20 a year and extra licenses for staff to record and save google meets which is a couple of grand a year. If setting it up from scratch then use a MIS/Active directory SYNC client so that everything gets provisioned automatically.

Your wasting your time going down that road, governments are not interested in taking over companies, because they then can't sit on the boards of directors and shareholders etc of those companies and rake in the $$. They'd rather keep them privatised.

I certainly wouldnt look down on a school for running ubiquiti, I ran it here myself in the "really bad funding days" but the fact remains they are not the same tier as your cisco/etc so you shouldnt expect the same performance or reliability. They're cheap, easy to set up, easy to configure, easy to replace and don't have any stupid licensing so it's a win win for schools on a tight budget. The hardware reliability is the weak point I think - I had 5% death rate back in the day. As long as you budget in 5% of the project to buy spare switches/waps/etc you should be fine to be honest. Saying that we're Aruba now thanks to LA funding and Aruba isn't any more reliable than Ubiquiti but it sure costs a lot more! If someone said to me all your Aruba is going and you have to go back to ubiquiti I wouldnt cry myself to sleep or anything

The data processor has to take responsibility for it's own policies procedures and and breeches.

Your account manager should be able to get you a buffer stock delivered if you are running into issues regularly. Have a word with them.

You seem to be missing the point slightly me old Grumbles. Classcharts are purposefully playing down the data breech, ignoring that is was a data breech, pretending it wasn't a data breech. Its not us you need to explain the above too - it's classcharts (or the ICO!).

Maybe get your host/core count down too - does anyone really need more than 3 servers if your in a cluster? 3 datacentre licences will be pennies compared to what you have been paying!

Certificates are device based but the WIFI networks mandated via the admin interface can be either set at the device level or the user level.

Happy with Ricoh&papercut there are several of our MFD's that have never had an engineer call in 5 years, not one. We just fill with paper and feed them the odd toner and they're happy as larry. Every other school that I talk to that doesn't have Ricoh have plenty of horror stories and weekly/monthly engineer calls. Reliability is key here not just initial price.

I pitched laser engraving as a way of permanent marking to the Business Manager so we bought a cheap amazon Jobbie as a trial for like 150 bucks. Fast forward 6 months and it's worked and proved the concept, but the machine is super slow and can not mark aluminium/titanium / ipads etc and is hard to mark different weird and wonderful shaped objects. So I then pitched an upgrade to a Laserpecker 4 so we can mark on almost anything in existence and it's semi portable so you can put it onto a PC or chromebook - this is working a treat, ipads, chromebooks, pcs, plastic/leather covers, would be able to do wood furniture etc too. 10x the price, but worth it in the long run as it's about 10x faster too so it improves my departments efficiency as a bonus. Overall - happy!

To be honest I have not really had any more down time since I moved from Vmware. I do however prefer Vmware and prefer having a low impact O/S as the hypervisor layer rather than a full fat O/S. But money dictates what we buy as there is preciously little to go round and can not justify spending the same ££ on server O/S as we did on our actual server hardware!! If VMware sorted a legit education wing with dedicated pricing and perhaps slightly feature shaved products at lower cost they could recapture the education market again.

Still using on site Impero here. I would imagine for software such as this that almost needs to be local and permanent/fast/low latency connected, cloud versions from all the manufacturers will be less than stellar.

Now that's a darn good question as I am not engraving every device in the school (slowly). I wouldn't expect a device to be sold on with the engraving still intact. Would be worth looking at your recycling company to find out if they are following correct procedures. You may have to change your agreement with the WEE provider to state that devices should be disposed of not resold?

HI if you go into users and open a user there is a licensing tab, it should just be a tick box? Is it now showing in the license tab for users?

Go with branded ones too as I'd rather fit and forget not fit and refit and refit. I did a semi-scientific-back-of-fag-packet test on Dewalt batteries a while back as the higher ups wanted copies to save money and basically the crux of it was whatever percentage cheaper the battery is, the battery percentage will be that much less. So a copy battery that cost 30% less actually ran out of juice 30% faster. So basically there's no difference, you either pay more and get more or you pay less and get less.
