Wouldn't you have to manually add every other machine in school that you want them to be able to log on to then?

There's another disadvantage to Apple TV's - the remotes are pretty small, and go missing easily... and the devices are pretty much useless without them...

I didn't know there was a no-swearing rule, I thought we were all just decent folk... I love that there is one though... I don't swear, ever, and I do tend to judge people that do regularly or unnecessarily, or out of habit... but it's just one of those things... I don't consider myself "holier than thou" either lol, I have many faults :-P

I've always used Sophos - always worked pretty reliably, and not had any issues with viruses, so no plans to look elsewhere for the foreseeable future... I've heard their support's pretty good if you're struggling getting going with it - not had cause to use it myself though - which I think's a good sign after 10ish years using it...

We've had a Facebook page and Twitter account for a few years now, and have found it really handy... There are several member of staff that used to ask me to post/tweet things regularly, so I've added them as editors on the Facebook page, and set it to automatically Tweet everything that's posted, so that way Twitter's used just as much as Facebook... I was contacted by another school locally that were interested in starting with Facebook, they decided against it as posts other users made to the page couldn't be reviewed before they went live - but there's now an option for this, so if you're not sure about that, it's easy to enable until you see the sorts of things people are posting... Several departments in school have their own Twitter accounts too (to stop the main one getting flooded with subject-specific stuff all the time) and that works really well too... the only stipulation that we make is that they don't follow the pupils, it's used solely to give information... I'd be happy to discuss it further

Hi All, I received a phone call from Autodesk this morning telling me they're making all their software available to schools for free!! I had to sign up at AutoDesk - Design The Future then within about 2 mins I had access to download all their software... It's not something we've even considered using before now, because of the price mainly, but definitely something we're looking into now... Anyone else had the call & signed up?

I'm building up stats based on members of the ANME of exactly things like this, all in nice pie charts or tables - all made available to the members... feel free to join to be included and see the stats we've built up so far... ANME Association of Network Managers in Education

This may be a bit controversial, but I love Comic Sans, and use it in all my emails... I stick with the defaults usually in Word & Excel, then it varies in more graphical stuff... but would hate to lose Comic Sans :-p

I had a MAC Image of it on my PC for some bizarre reason (never had a mac in my life! lol) Found the disc now though!! Typical, I was searching for ages before half term, within an hour of posting on here, I find it!!

We've had Windows 7 installed across the network for a few years now, and I'm sticking the the adage, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"... We've got base images set up, and can create new ones (when rarely necessary) easily... it works well, all the software is compatible with it, everyone knows how to use it... so I've no intention of introducing Windows 8 on site, with the exception of the occasional Laptop / Surface.

There was one online a while ago offering a free trial if you signed up, then billing the schools because they didn't cancel... I blocked access to their site from here with a sternly worded email, but I've heard of similar cases elsewhere... There should be laws against things like that... I don't think we paid it in the end though, probably because the member of staff didn't have the relevant power to commit to financial contracts etc. Bunch of clowns :-(
