The things I'd be lost with out: Leatherman (I use my own, but the school bought one for my technician) Bit-Pack for above Leatherment Dual Screens (2 x Large monitors) Usual cable testers / Cat5e crimp tool etc. Tablet (I love my Windows Surface RT, wouldn't be without it now) Mobile (use my own, but have had a school bought one in the past - if you're the type of person who checks & replies to emails after hours, especially from the bosses, this isn't always an unreasonable ask) The only one that may be a bit iffy is the Leatherman, as some schools may not be in favour of you carrying that around with you... Mine's always on my belt, and I've been open about it from the start, but I can't remember the last time a day went by when I've not used it at least once...

If it's for the exam boards etc. you don't usually get them back, so it'd be a nice little gift for them, and expensive for the school :-p

Does the 20GB of vids need to be sent off too? If so, maybe a larger USB drive or old portable hard drive? Then just zip them with a password and they can all go on one thing... Can you reduce the quality at all? I use Xilisoft Video Converter as everyone records in HD and that's definitely not necessary most of the time... that can have a huge effect on file sizes...

I'd be interested in hearing more about that - what cashless system do you use? I'd love to get more content like that on, but don't want to update every day...

We're using OneLan, but I used Xibo before that, and I'd probably try to use that again if I could... Really nice piece of kit... The OneLans are really powerful, but quite tricky to get to grips with...

Thanks @SLS_ I found the stats really interesting too, and it's highlighted that we need another 1/2 a technician lol... I'll keep updating them every so often in the EduGeek group...

Thanks @fiza I wish that was my school!! Sadly it's a stock image @schudio used on the site initially, fits quite well with the blue & orange setting... I've just edited it and put the image on the screens

Hopefully... after talking to other networking groups of different aspects of school roles that have included the area in the group name and struggling to expand, we didn't want to do that, so definitely looking to get it going in other areas too...

Does anyone know if there's an updated simsperm.bat file? The one I can see looks like it only covers XP/32bit machines... We gave up installing SIMS locally and just published it as an app on a terminal server, but having got PARS now it needs to be installed locally again... so the headache's back... (Just realised how old this thread is! It was the first result in Google searching for simsperm.bat lol... I'd have started a new one if I'd realised...)

Easier remembering titles between either Sir or Miss/Mrs/Ms, than all the individual forenames... at least if a pupil can't remember a teachers surname they can get away with just Sir or Miss...

What a bunch of clowns!!! If they have to change it, what's wrong with Sir & Ma'am like one of the schools I went to?! It's just another step in the direction of the dissemination of complete and utter lack of respect that's already causing issues with the youth of today! (feeling old now I've said that!)... They need a bit of common sense up at the top...

We've been using it since November last year, and trying to get everything added to it... but we've found the scanner & system to work really well overall... Could your firewall be filtering the traffic? May be worth adding a rule to allow it to go out directly... The stickers have been pretty reliable so far too - maybe it's a dodgy batch or the surfaces are unsuitable/dusty... Their support seems pretty good so they should be able to help if you're having problems...

We've used Impero for a few years now, and I've got to say I love it (price aside), the main reason initially was for the e-safety side of it, but we use most of the features pretty heavily... The after-sales support we've had from them has been exceptional too... they're always happy to remote in to resolve issues (not that we've had many)... I do think they need to be kept on their toes re. the prices though, they've increased quite a lot since we got it having said that, if I was looking for products that cover everything we use Impero for now, I'd still choose Impero... If you do use a lot of the features, it's pretty justifiable... in my humble opinion obviously!!

That's why we posted in the CLEO group! It is a bit of a trek... we didn't want to localise it too much as we didn't want to exclude anyone, and after talking to other cluster groups that have focussed on specific areas/regions and struggling to grow beyond that, we wanted to be able to grow in the future if it takes off - which it definitely appears to be doing... We're not looking to start a forum, as EduGeek's got that covered! lol, so other than getting updates & minutes etc. there's no real advantage of joining if you're too far away to attend the meetings...
