Hi All, Pretty fed up with EE's signal at home, so thinking of switching back to o2... I know their signal's pretty dire at home too, but curious about the Tu Go app... Does anyone here use it? (ideally with an Android phone) I'd love to get some general feedback about it, and maybe ask a couple of questions if anyone is using it on Android) Thanks, Rick

I've created rules that shut all the PCs down at the end of the day and boot a couple of rooms up in the morning, and never had any problems with any of it... but I'm not sure that's the official "Power Management" feature - think it's just a manual approach...

Impero should work for that - it's a great piece of kit... Their support is fantastic too, they'll be able to help you out remotely... no point looking for anything else while you've already got that... Give them a call or log in on their support forum and they'll get you sorted... Impero Software

I forgot to cancel mine in April, but quite enjoying it now... got the Amazon Prime on my Smart TV and you can let other members of your household get the free next day delivery too if you add them through your account... (I've just added my mum - who lives elsewhere and it seems to have gone through)... It's not too bad now the TV's included, but a bit expensive as an up-front payment...

We trialled the three big e-Safety solutions a few years ago, but went with Impero - not because it was the cheapest at the time, but because it was also far cheaper than all the separate options that it also covered, so we saved a fortune... I know the prices have rocketed since, which is a shame... but I wouldn't lose it now... I love the reports/details you can get, the email alerts set to go to whoever you want - ours are broken down into upper school and lower school, going to their various SLT members for each... we use it just as much from a network management point of view too, remote support / installations, ICT Teachers reset student passwords via their console, but I'd definitely recommend it as an e-safety solution... Haha I know what you mean... Sounds like the "Submissions" drive mentioned earlier will be pretty admin-free once it's up and running... I'll set up a script to automatically delete files older than X days to keep it tidy, and as they have to drag and drop existing work rather than save it there directly, if any files are needed again once they've been deleted, the pupil can just drag another copy back in...

Thanks I've done that for the ICT staff who regularly need/use it, but it'd be a bit of a bit of a faff if a teacher's got to get one file from 30 students, so I was avoiding that... - - - Updated - - - That sounds perfect! If you could, I'd be extremely grateful!

I've been asked loads of times if there's an area/drive that the students can all save to, so the staff can access the work - I've always said no, because things can be deleted / copied and they end up chatting via text files etc., plus they're never monitored so end up getting to be huge and full of old files... so told them to get the students to email their work, or go round with a USB drive... Thought about creating an area with a script running on the server to automatically delete files older than 10 mins (etc.), but that doesn't get round all the issues... None of the them are great solutions really - so thought I'd (finally) ask how other schools handle this?

Got an issue with SIMS reports, when exported to Excel, for one user - when she runs reports to open in Excel, she's unable to save, you click Save (or Ctrl & S / File-Save etc.) and nothing happens... Tried upgrading her from Office 2010 to 2013 and it still does it... She's having to copy and paste the data into Word/notepad then close & reopen Excel to work with it... Has anyone else experienced this and found a solution, or can anyone suggest something that might resolve it?

Do you mean the don't prompt to submit, or don't actually submit once you've submitted? I'm using the Nexus 5 and got an option to submit the crash report when it was crashing (it hasn't crashed since the update)...

Could you add a Guest Wifi for the gadgets and keep the main wifi for official domain devices? (depending on the policy of whether you give out the wifi key or not I guess)... Following some issues of it being given out, we no longer give out the main curric wifi key, but people use the guest wifi as required, that has a 192.168.0.0 range, so doesn't affect our main domain/dhcp range...

We looked at Wasp a few years ago, but never got the feeling it'd be straight forward enough for everyone to use - plus it needed the barcode scanner... Couldn't tell you whether SAM would be suitable to link like that... have you asked them? I've not really needed their support, but it seems really good...

Are you thinking of replacing your helpdesk with it too? It's not as powerful as some other dedicated helpdesk solutions, so may not be ideal for that... (though it's reasonable, and reliable, and included for free lol)

Yes... but the advantage of that, is that you've got a copy of it externally, should the worst happen in school (fire/theft etc.) We've not noticed any disadvantages to it being cloud based so far...

We're planning the next NM meeting for Thursday 6th November. Venue to be confirmed, but Park Hall are getting the wifi sorted, so we're hoping to hold it there again.
