  1. Heard about this on the radio on my way into work then completely forgot... I did it about 10 mins ago, text sent successfully... not had the message back yet, but I'm guessing they're being flooded with texts...
  2. I've no geeky t-shirts either, so will just be in my regular ANME polo shirt...
  3. I'll tell you on Tuesday... not that interesting really lol
  4. No, just the penguin part really... after the last EDIT...
  5. We had one device with Ricoh, and will not be using them again (no issue with the device itself, and we have other Ricoh's with another company)... We had a few issues over the term of the lease, but two main ones that are the reasons we won't use them again... 1. They were meant to send us a new base and they didn't, so we continued using an old one that was far too high for comfortable use. 2. We had an issue with the toner, I don't think one was ordered automatically, so when we ran out they said the new one wouldn't arrive for two days - which in the main school office is unacceptable (luckily our other company popped one over within 30 minutes and we were sorted).
  6. Only an hour to go to register for the trip! Still time to join and receive an invitation to come along if you've not joined yet - Join | Association of Network Managers in Education ANME I'll be confirming numbers and booking the lunches this afternoon...
  7. There's quite a lot of things to possibly comment on / answer there... so I'll kick off the replies with what I'd opt for... 1. CTouch Interactive TVs - we've got 3 and they're awesome, the teachers using them love them, and we've had no issues with them since installing them. 2. Epson Interactive Projectors - I've got NEC ones, but they require a rechargeable pen and the software with them isn't great, I've seen the Epson ones at their HQ and they're pretty impressive, very responsive and great tools... Epson kit also comes with a licence for Smart Notebook, and cheap updates for 3 years I think... 3. Casio lampless projectors... I've had one on loan from them for ages for the ANME so use it at meetings etc. and I've recently replaced a projector in school with a Casio and it's fantastic - I'm definitely going to start replacing projectors with them in the future... Obviously depends on budgets and need, but they're the three I'd go for if budget allows...
  8. Thanks @dhm83, should be a great day! I've only been to Birmingham once on a flying visit to have a look at the venue, so looking forward to having a bit of a drive around to see more while I'm there...
  9. I've just got one of the awesome new Fujitsu Stylistic R726 tablet/laptops that compete nicely with the Surface and come with the keyboard as standard... Mine's the i7 / 8GB / 500GB SSD version and it's a dream, but the i3's and i5's are awesome too... Well worth checking out...
  10. I've always used Norton AV then IS... Never had any problems with Viruses etc... I use it on my home PC, tablet andwork PC (love Sophos for the network generally, but prefer to have more local control on my PC)
  11. It's not available to all members - just the types of members that actually use it like ISPs... there's too much risk of all the info in the various lists falling into the wrong hands... The ANME became a member of the IWF a couple of months ago and it's not something I'd even considered asking about - even though sharing it with the members could potentially be of use - it's not appropriate for all to have access to it...
  12. Less than a month to go to the meeting now - still places available, free to join, free to attend... all new members in the Midlands will receive an invitation... Birmingham Meeting 01 | Association of Network Managers in Education ANME
  13. Just a reminder that registrations for the ANME trip to the National Museum of Computing will close next Tuesday (24th May), but it's not too late to register, or join... all new members that join before then will receive an invitation... National Museum of Computing Trip | Association of Network Managers in Education ANME I was at another event there last week and the museum tour was pretty awesome, and brought back quite a few memories of the way things used to be...
  14. I was so tempted to do that... Oh Bertha, lovely Bertha, you are a lovely machine!!
  15. I'm sure they will, I had an issue with two of the NICs on mine, I just moved the cables into spares and carried on using it as normal but they swapped it out and dealt with it all so no issues at all...
  16. @localzuk - Do you know much about Base64 images in email signatures? I've got my images converted, they display correctly when I view the htm file in a browser, but not in emails...
  17. I didn't think it was shipping with the new devices yet... It will be soon...
  18. I've had it on some staff laptops that are used at home - usually by their children on game sites etc... but not had any on PCs or devices kept in school. Not heard of many cases of it affecting devices/networks...
  19. I've never had any issues on personal devices with either viruses or malware, but I've got Norton Internet Security on my PCs, and always have MWB installed, but just the free version that I run occasionally... I definitely come across more malware related issues than virus though, and always recommend MWB to people... I'm also surprised more vendors haven't merged the two - seems like a logical step for similar threats...
  20. Had some great responses and feedback to the Training Interest Survey so far... Quite interesting to see who doesn't really look at the Info Update table too :-p
  21. Can't wait! Should be a great event as always!
  22. True... I'd publicise the courses when they're arranged with details about how to join / sign up... I'd rather get feedback from existing members in the first instance... I'll send a link to the survey to new members though...
  23. Anyone would be able to complete it if there was a link here...
  24. I'm really looking forward to seeing the opinions and suggestions from the training interest survey... And really hoping the extra incentive to do it helps ;-) (must be one of the shortest surveys I've done so far!)
