Funnily enough I received an email from DurhamNet last week after logging a problem with them. Looks like they are working on a update to their filtering solution which should give more control to the individual school. Quote from email I've asked for out MagicBox to be updated during the summer holidays so that the new filtering can be tested alongside our web filter before unleashing it on the students.

Did the upgrade last night downloaded and installed without any issues unlike some people Apple delivers iOS 4, users report backup problems Only had a couple of apps grumble about compatiability with the new OS. The OS itself is OK I guess although to be honest like a lot of things Apple have done recently its been overhyped to the nth degree. I've used Apple products for ages and just like the upgrade to Snow Leopard iOS 4.0 didn't offer anything revolutionary. Multi-tasking, App Switching, Creating Playlists, Digital Zoom and having a character counter for your messages are all features that have been done to death before by other phones so nothing new there! The only feature I have found useful at the moment has been the multiple exchange accounts and the security fixes LOL, it is early days at the moment so I could find some more features I like.

Know exactly what you mean! I got sick of picking icons from differnet sites as it pretty much killed off the uniformed look I was attempting to achieve.

Very much so also very hard hitting I felt, especially when watching some of the videos knowing they were based on actual events. It's also scary to see how youngsters are unwittingly giving up information about themselves without even thinking about it! It's really made me more determined to do something to help which is why my school are looking to get me out to local schools to offer the training. Were offering it to some parents next week too but someone forgot to check the football schedule first and its been booked the day of Englands last group game I was quite lucky doing the courses when I did as I got a free enrollment on to the CEOP Diploma in Online Protection and Safeguarding of Children which I think they are launchin soon and something I am looking forward to.

I too think its a good idea to have a specific forum for e-Safety, having recently been put through the CEOP ThinkUKnow training thanks to your recommendation I would welcome the idea of a forum where best practices and advice are exchanged regarding e-Safety. I also agree on the point that it should be a public forum especialy if its offering advice and educating people on e-Safety.

This isn't a request to have some icons created unless SYSMAN_MK is looking for another challenge! I just wanted to know if anyone could recommend a decent site for icons I'm looking for icons to help identify different school subjects. All the ones I have found so far are pretty rubbish! I am looking to create a survey for the school staff soon to survey the IT Support department. I think its about time I establish a benchmark on how we are doing through the eyes of the people we support. I was wondering has anyone done this and if so what type of questions have you asked? Thanks

I'm having similar issues with my MBP too seems noticeably more sluggish as it boots but once booted and the OS loaded it seems fine was also over 600MB. iMac update wasn't as large but more interestingly it doesn't seem to suffer the same fate as the MBP, it may be an issue related just to the MBP whatever it is it needs sorting!!!

Hi folks, My school has decided to update the logo to coincide with changing the school uniform. Basically ideas for the new logo were sketched out by the art teacher and one of the ideas was picked as the new logo. The sketched image was emailed to the company designing the new uniform who created a uniform badge for us by stitching the logo on to some fabric. The only digital copy of the logo is the one I have uploaded here which is basically a scan of the badge we were sent which isn't great. I am desperate need of some better copies of the logo and would appreciate all the help I can get as my skills with any sort graphics package are limited to say the least. The logo is basically made up of a railway bridge in a perspective view with a pit wheel behind it. The Aquafresh stipes at the bottom are the school colours. Any help would be much appreciated!

Schools rated 'outstanding' will never face Ofsted inspections again under plans by Gove I thought the idea of Ofsted was to keep schools on their toes, with no planned or announced monitoring procedure for schools rated outstanding this can only end in disaster!

As mentioned by Theblacksheep positive PR for the private company is always a good thing and I am pretty sure that the contributions to the school would be tax deductible too. Along with that I am sure there would be other "behind closed doors" benefits to the contributing private companies, especially since the current Government is backing these changes. For example if Vodafone suddenly started to fund academies would they have issues when applying for permission to put up more mobile phone masts? Or is that just my suspicious mind working overtime?

Not a lot as far as I can tell for the schools that are duped by the Academy Status! Only information within the two articles keeps refering to the promise of more control for the schools as they opt out of LA control. Don't Academies also need a business sponsorship? Not sure on how it will affect Grammar Schools though sorry.

Or so it seems Opt-out offer for outstanding schools Coalition's schools plan to create 2,000 more academies And all with greater independence from local authority control! Anyone here work in a school judged "outstanding" by OFSTED?

This is how we managed to disable sticky keys too. Students are configured to use Mandatory Profiles so the above key was modified on the profile to resolve the issue. You don't say how your user profiles are configured, are they mandatory or roaming? Can you not create a logon script that adds the above key into the users profile? Something like regedit.exe -s \\{SERVER}\NETLOGON\stickykeys.reg, where stickykeys.reg has details of the key you mentioned in your previous post. Once the key is added it should take effect the next time the user logs on. Only problem I see with this is that you will need to leave it running long enough to update all your user profiles.
