If you don't really have much experience with HTML (for example) then you are probably best trying to re-code the website using something like Dreamweaver, which will write in all the latest code (with browser compatability usually) as you add different bits and bobs, such as iFrames, tables, images etc. Edit: Looking around the web page source code a little, there are some out of date tags which, in honesty, aren't used anymore because of compatability issues (such as frames). iFrames are even going out now, but will be more compatable than frames.

Do you install your certs via EMC or IIS? and have you assigned the new cert to your server, as it may still be looking for a now uninstalled cert to verify against?

The fact you use 'frames' instead of 'iframes' will most likely be a contributing factor. I am using FireFox and I can view the website - but it's not "as it should be", compared to IE. It appears mainly the web page code is out of date.

Hey all, Hope you are well. I'm wondering how many schools run an after school game club. I've been asked to run one/volunteered. I'm looking forward to the potential of it, however don't have a clue what games to play. Essentially, it doesn't "have" to be games. It's been listed as an 'ICT' club, although we're primarily focusing on games. If you run a similar after school club, how do you run it? What games do you use (if it's a games club) and does it work well? Do you charge and what kind of PC spec are you running? Our PC's are standard spec, nothing special - so if it was a games club, it can't be nothing too heavy...but I'd like it to be focused around a LAN if possible rather than just unblocking mini clip. Potentially, I could run two sections...something like a 'games' group and a 'build your own pc' group. Anyways, be nice to hear from other schools. Cheers!

Hey, I've not had chance to see if the disabled service has taken affect and worked yet, but I'll ask the ICT teachers to monitor it today. I hope we can both get this fixed! Thanks for your updates and such; they may come in very useful.

We have the same problem. I've not applied any fix yet. All our users connect to \\server01\username$ and it works. Last time we had this problem we disabled DFS in services. It worked I believe. I'm about to check the services aren't running again and then if they are, disable them to see if that works. Edit: The service was running on two servers. Disabled now. Will await to see if it fixes the problem.

I understand everyone's frustrations with not being able to get hold of old software. It was a hard decision for Kevin to make, to close MST. The way we see it is, that by still providing old software, we're not closing MST, only changing the website? People must understand, Kevin has CLOSED MST, not just suspended development. I appreciate people would still like to donate, it's very kind of you; however donations are no longer going to be accepted. Someone mentioned, if it's not about money, then why is LV4 only for donators. I answer this simply, because they donated to us, out of their own money and their own choice. We are thanking that generosity by personally releasing it only to them. I have no doubt in my mind that the LV4 installation files will fly around the web eventually; however for the beginning, they were the first to receive the software. That is important to us, and possibly most of them. The way we have to look at this is that Kevin has decided to close MST Software after over 10 years of hard work. He didn't even have to finish LV4; so we have to be thankful he is still dedicating some time towards completing this project. Everything comes to an end and we have to move on. I appreciate everyone's comments, it's a shame this topic seems to be getting a little heated. I will see what I can do about current requests (i.e. command lists). I may be able to e-mail these bits of information to you, as-long as you remember that support is no longer available; so this is a one time favor (so to speak).

Myself and Kevin spoke and came to the agreement that people had the opportunity to donate when MST was open. LanView 4 is now a thank you to those people who helped keep MST running, by kindly donating. It would be unfair to those people, who supported us because they wanted to when we were open, to allow people to donate now - just because we've closed and they won't receive the software they were expecting. We have no need to take advantage of people wanting to donate. It isn't and never was about money. Hey, this is correct. I spoke to Kevin last night about adding links to old software on the website and he doesn't want this to happen.

LanView 4 (as stated on the website) will be available to donators as a thank you, so I can't see why donations can't still be taken until the release of LV4. Donations will still be used for the hosting and domain. I will get back to you about the donations availability very soon. I'll be updating the website myself either tonight or tomorrow.

Hello all, Just wondering - those schools with exchange. How do you deal with the Default GAL and other address lists showing for students? We've only just got Exchange 2007 and we're still working round it - the main concern that was raised is the fact we don't want students to see (preferably) any address book apart from their own personal contact list. I'm aware you can modify permissions in ADSI Edit - so that a AD group doesn't have certain permissions, but blocking access to the GAL creates errors and such. Just thought I'd post in here to get other people's methods, if there are any. Cheers

All our teaching staff get access to read (only) a students home directory. Not many of them use it though...and we don't create shortcuts for them to access the drives - when they ask if they can do it, we tell them how using Run

Stone are excellent -we use them too. Excellent products and support. My NM who spent time at Bett with our account rep and regional team manager - said they were talking about Stone's new monitors which are 'green' for the environment (they sound good)...and also itx's - really small form factor machines. Looking good.

Agreed - played COD5 myself...good, but not as good as COD4. They've announced COD6 will be Modern Warfare 2 I believe too and I thought COD4 was excellent (although short) so looking forward to that!
