Hi,
I work mainly for the languages department at my school and I have been using a Coomber 6031 over a period of time to convert tapes to cds, then importing them as mp3s on computer and uploading to our servers and also our websites and streaming them.
We also use Sandisk sansa mp3 players to enable pupils to listen back to them in class, at home, or for exams:

though these are about £70 each, so not the cheapest, there is a newer variation on it for about £18:
Buy SanDisk Sansa Clip MP3 Player 1GB with FM Radio (Black) SDMX11R-1024K-E70 £17.89 - Oyyy.co.uk
this might be cheaper than buying ipod shuffles and less fashionable, so hopefully less likely to be 1/2 inched
Though this all depends on whether you have time beforehand to do all this:bolt:
Hope this helps
