For 10 users you could also look at office 365 as that is an exchange server. Migration is easy enough through a connector from 2003 to 2007 if you have a second server to run it on, 2k7 was way disk io heavy, 2010 is way space heavy and both eat stupid amounts of ram, I'd say 8gb min.

Quick once cached, still hangs up on the ad images at the end of the thread but I'm guessing that is more to do with the three modems strung together which constitutes our international bandwidth capacity. On the plus side going to fibre cuts out about 40ms of lag locally thanks to the ancient dsl interconnects being bypassed which is substantial as that also trims about 1/5th of the total latency getting from here to the other side of the planet.

We are lucky that it is right out to the internet, 100 down and 25 up I think, as is usual thought the week link is as you say after the first link, while we get decent link speed to the next hop service providers still only output at a rubbish speed, tvnz on demand for instance gets about 2.5 mbits and that is a local NZ site. On the massive plus side the upspeed is insanely good so locally hosted stuff is great externally now, better than a bunch of the supposedly well resourced public services. Apple still manages to have a download speed the same as a dsl connection.

To be fair, the car industry does the exact same thing MS did, the golf platform has ads about an extra 15% space and 40% stronger chassis making it safer than the last one. This is the government funded roll out, here the government pays companies to build stuff and then those companies get to sell it at a profit. Several edu portals have worked out that way, largely developed by government funds then sold to schools with the ministry's coercion. If they actually built it in house they could give it to schools near free but that long term - six months in advance - thinking is beyond them. Still way better than what we had before. Worryingly now they want us to go all in on their rebranded cloud stuff replacing our 4gb trunks to storage servers with the single 100mbit shared link. They had the option of 1gb for an extra 30% or so but somehow long term escaped their planning. By the time fibre makes it to most homes it 100mbit will be easily eclipsed by cellphone data speeds, you'll burn through your $50 a month 2gb cap in less than a minute though.

Finally after an eternaty on 5-10mbit ADSL one of my schools has finally got a hold of some fibre goodness Now if only the service providers here (TVNZ Ondemand) could manage to ration out more than a couple of MBits a second per user we would really be getting somewhere.

Meh, all good everyone is entitled to their opinions, as an untrustworthy sub-human (or citizen) I can only weigh the facts I have access to while I still have that right. I dislike being told that I can't possibly understand and will not be given the opportunity to. Assuming that everyone else is stupid and untrustworthy generally does not lead to the best PR so hopefully that goes some way to explain where this scorn justifiably comes from.

Way to take an idea and run with it, I did not call them Satan, just self interested which all governments seem to be at the moment, I don't agree with a bunch of stuff done by my government, your's or the UK's, the troubling thing is the democracy is now about choosing the faces of those who will do whatever they want. The people seem to have very little say in what they do anymore, just who's face gets included in the press releases. This is compounded by their view that the people have no right to know what their governments are doing and that they will happily write new laws and ramp up the force very quickly to defend themselves against the supposed democracy they are 'upholding'. I'm sure Iran does more than their fair share of dodgy stuff but then the western press is still allowed and probably even encouraged to call them on it.

Yea but my grandfather has something you don't credibility to me, some random Australian banging on about the great and well meaning USA has absolutely no weight, what does have weight is their visible and leaked actions, strong arming governments to rewrite local laws in order to enforce their lobbiests paid for laws in the states. Umm, he said Éire, the Native name for Ireland, if referring to the original landmass then sure the UK had some nasty skirmishes and took the top chunk of it. If referring to the nation of Ireland then the perception of that has changed over time from being separate back to a unified view but there are all sorts of subtleties that are still being worked through. At best your only part right similar to saying that Australia is part of the UK because it is still in the Commonwealth. All of your arguments seem to be based on the premise that you know better without providing any supporting evidence. I think the local term is 'put up or #$%& up' so unless you can drop some Snowden level leaks to back up your position you have no leg to stand on and are simply arguing your interpretation rather than from any factual standpoint. Pfft, I'm right, I need no reason . By rights the config should not even let you select tkip with n without a warning but none seem to. Our ruckus gear will let you specify wpa2 tkip on 11n but steps the speed down, in that case the number of clients is limited much lower per wap because tkip is in software where as aes is hardware accelerated and so more clients at a higher speed. In our case at least I was right on that front to which relates back to the spec. TBH I think wpa disallowed tkip even in g but venders left it in for compatibility.

Oh and tkip is also easily crackable and not in the official WPA2 spec so it behaves like 11g.

What encryption are you running, are you are using WPA with TKIP encryption instead of AES, AES is hardware accelerated where as tkip is in software so slower.

Anyone else waiting for the Amber update, if comes with a bunch of improvements especially for the camera. I know the PS4 is more games focused but the xb1 will offer all those little extras that would probably be a nightmare on ps4. I am not buying one at launch as I want to see how well they stick to their guns but I will almost certainly buy one a couple of months later.

But it is generally not cheaper, they can and do charge much more for the convenience, they are the ones saving the money and that goes right to their profit margin, the school gets sold on the idea of paying less but it usually never works out that way.

Best career move is out of IT, people don't understand it and blame it for everything they can't do even if this is because of policy or their own lack of training. Because of this and the wild inflation of power, pay and numbers of managers self assured with their MBAs they are successfully commoditising chunks of IT and the best you can hope for if they get their way is being a minimum wage glorified personal shopper for other services while getting to take the blame for any failings. Good news is they will still demand a degree and decade of experience just to get an interview. The only way up is out.
