[news] Mr Steve Jobs... Tut Tut! Email....
SYNACK replied to abillybob's topic in Jokes/Interweb Things
ITunes is TERRIBLE, MS should not have killed off Zune, that managed the same stuff but did not bring every PC ever made to its knees thanks to purposefully terrible coding. Apple is doing its best to service its shareholders for only the small price of the rest of the human population. Personally I think the US legal system needs to burn in a fire as it is far nastier than the system their forefathers immigrated to supposedly escape. I think they were just pissed they didn't think of a totalitarian system first and planed to do it better in several hundred years. To be fair they are managing it, selling off laws to Apple and any company that can effect their three or four yearly popularity contents. It has even spread to other nations where you can buy laws in the States then have them force them on other nations. Just look at the new NZ copyright laws which were proven to be written by some lobbyist in the US with a big check book and then the issues was forced by a big well armed nation heavily suggesting that it be applied in NZ and Australia. The US makes me sick and I would rather fly into Tehran wearing a Jewish cap and star of David than visit the US as I would actually feel safer. At least Iran is honest about crushing the will of the masses and hating 'outsiders'. Apple seems to extend these policies brilliantly charging more for everything outside the US and other companies like MS do the same by disregarding anyone outside the US as a matter of course. There is a reason the US needs such a big military and that's because they have pissed off so many people and countries and yet still want to strong arm them into situations that are bad for them. In summary I don't think it is even Apple that is the problem anymore rather the state required douchebaggery that is expected and condoned by the country itself. Their 'democracy' is sick and the virus is spreading. -
Mixture of apps from Personal and School Apple IDs
SYNACK replied to tmoon-mint's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
Good call but if using the new VPP MDM you can pull the apps from one ad add them to the new one after jumping through all the BS hoops that apple throws in the way, the way you propose is far more manageable and what I do when I have to deal with them, cuts out massive amounts of wasted time. -
Mixture of apps from Personal and School Apple IDs
SYNACK replied to tmoon-mint's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
If only, it seems Apple needs a personal ID per device to allow VPP to deploy, these can of course be school managed apple IDs but still a per device account. As to content with apps I don't think it makes a difference but only with stuff like music and movies which are not licenced for general distribution anyway and so are not available through the VPP. Books and Apps however has less draconian restrictions on them and Apples ridiculous systems makes personal and single accounts about equal anyway as all the VPP does is add an application to a bunch of individual apple IDs. -
Legitimatly bypass revoked certificate
SYNACK replied to howartp's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Can you find out the crl site for the cert and block that through a hosts file or something on just the one station to mask the revocation, what browser as you can wind the settings right down on some, Firefox seems to be the least cautious about certs by default. -
Can you install windows 8 just as a bootloader and try it that way. Also if you can upgrade wds to a winpe 4.1 image it should be able to handle imaging, look into MDT also.

Make a batch file that takes a command line parameter and chucks it on the end of the dll call then use a cmd to exe or com converter to make it executable then associate to that

wpad.dat and Windows Phone 8
SYNACK replied to themightymrp's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Looks like it does support wpad over dhcp Proxy support for Windows Phone OS 7.1 Emulator -
The first lot was 15 or 16 ipads each with its own iTunes id and yes they brought stacks of apps on each. I'm going to make 15 local users on the mac and assign them to each apple id and accept the vpp on each then bang them all in a group. Should be able to sign in the first 15 back to their original ipads once they are managed then just push apps to the group which should let us keep existing stuff and push new stuff. Have the cache switched on on the mac server and it does seem to be caching ios apps but no speed improvement yet, still like using a 56k modem and we are on a 100mbit fiber. Got to figure out how to remote into it reliably at some point to as realvnc with screen share fails out and lags terribly when it does work.

Yay, they now do show up after downloading the new VPP token, it must have chewed the old one. Had some issues with it saying that there were no eligible devices and that they now seem to have changed it so that to use an apple ID on an iPad it needs a credit card or some redeemed credit making individual accounts for each user a total no go. Just setting up a Configurator profile now that should get them supervised and enrolled for transparent pushing of apps then all I need to do is figure out how to integrate all the other individual iTunes accounts that they had setup for the first 16 iPads into the mix. I am at least making progress now which is a major change from the purgatory I was stuck in before.

The latest for each as at last week, I know mavericks has some issues but it came with the Mini. Yes, did this with the primary account which may be some of the problem, may need to use the second facilitator one again come to think of it as the first one did not allow any app purchases and got stuck in a login loop but did let me get the token perhaps the token got corrupted as well - I will try that tomorrow. No apps show up at all in the web interface. Ah, the missing step was the invitation accept, I had generated an email invite for one but this seemed to require some weird hoops with iTunes. Should be easier when sorting it out to invite a device. Thanks for your helpful and concise reply.

Use MDT then you can make a USB boot key that either hooks up to the network to download and apply the image or dumps all the necessary files on a bootable USB that will still boot under EFI.

Couldn't agree more, even Apple support couldn't get a hold of the VPP team. @seawolf - you have my interest, is there a trick to getting the apps to show up? Done

General gripe about the whole system and the VPP support that have never ever got back to me in any form. Yes it is the first time I have set it up and I did read through the link, have enabled push notifications through the firewall and it successfully pushes settings to an iPad but there are no apps that show up from the VPP despite them being purchased. I am wondering if I need yet another iTunes ID to tie into each separate user to allow for apps to show up and be pushed. Happy to separate this out into another thread if you think there may be a solution.

2009 http://bikeglam.com/transparent-mobile-phone-future-concept-nokia-transparent-mobile-phone-for-new-generation/ transparent nokia phone concept, they were just not dickish enough to patent it before having a viable product. We are less innovative now thanks to patents which brings us back to the other conversation you were discussing, if the patent system is not stopped we are all screwed in the long run, just look at the patents on seeds in the US, how are we not driving ourselves to extinction one greedy company at a time.

Well piling on with app availability and timing this was available on my HTC Windows phone around WP7.5 I think even WP7.0-7.1 which was well before 2012. This http://www.windowsphone.com/en-nz/store/app/text-n-walk/c0c0bc7c-9c28-43ec-93b5-26b0f12d4b39 had an update in febuary 2012 and that was 1.1

With team sites you can easily add a blog and then use permissions to open it up to whoever, additionally the users personal site has a personal blog facility to. You can just add a bunch of blogs to a sharepoint team site or have them use their own and make a team site with a blog for each class. Again you get full control as an admin but assuming groups are setup you can delegate to the teachers, you still get templates and control on comments depending on your settings.

Having spent three weeks being bounced around apple thanks to two corrupted apple IDs that no one seemed to be able to diagnose let alone fix and still not being able to get VPP apps to show up in the wretched thing it leaves me longing for a nice comparatively clean hundred or so page Linux config file in Chinese that actually had a shot of working. Profile manager appears to be a very large pile of junk and a solution that actually had documentation better thank 'look at the pretty' would be a better choice.

Freshly extracted conversation on the finer points of actually getting Profile Manager working with iPads and VPP. Long story short, the apps do not show up in profile manager. ----original extraction---- If you have a mac server and several weeks to spend on hold with Apple tec support

If you have Office 365 this is really easy.

Are you sporting a proxy? If so that may be causing issues as it will not know about it yet and be trying to connect directly. -
