Got it on mine and it is decent, need a new head unit though to trigger Cortana while in Bluetooth audio playback mode. Great you can finally once again (like 10 years ago on win mobile) say play some smashing pumpkins and have it just do it, navigate to x etc. Some of the Easter eggs: What do you think of apple? What do you think of Siri? Where is master chef? Open the pod bay doors Hal. Sing me a song. Etc... It's decent but again they seem to have spent no effort on voice rec for anywhere that is not America, we still don't even have voice commands on the xb1 and its been like six months.

The dell site link fails and chokes when looking for it from search which gives me no confidence in their gear of they can't work a basic web site. If you were going hp make sure it has a stack of ram, the better CPU and a fast enough drive.

What versions of sbs and windows, the older ones with exchange are a lot heavier and will need a stack of ram and are less happy in a vm, 2k3 is rubbish but the layer versions are much better so that is also a consideration but sans exchange with a stack of ram either should work, just slowly. Have you considered just using virtualization on your dev machine, that's what I do, a nice speedy i5 or i7 with a stack of ram and a couple of decent hard drives would probably be way faster. You can run Hyper-v for free with the free Visual Studio under Windows 8 enterprise, probably pro and 7 to. This way you have a full desktop PC with a bunch of power that can be shared between dev and test. Hyperv happily supports Ubuntu in the latest version to so you can still target apache and hyperv makes VMS easy. You could also go Linux for dev as I think xen runs nicely in the background too. All depends on what you are targeting and your budgets though.

A good spec apple is generally a mediocre spec PC at best. I would agree that the drivers are probably not helping, just look at iTunes on a Windows box for how bad they can sabotage software. I'd also run any updates that may include firmware as that could also be partially to blame.

As far as I know the wiring is the same, all you need is some rj11 (modem to modem cables) to chuck the raw phone line onto cat5 and pull it off at the other end, the modem type cables are speced to plug into rj45 if not as reliable as rj45 when not plugged in carefully.

Oh and that is not strange, OSS people have a turgid one for Google but don't like MS at all. I just had to use Orca.msi from the Windows SDK to yank a bunch of the requirements from the install but stuff that relies on DX and even more so stuff that relies on OpenGL works terribly on stuff that does not have an accelerator. Had to deal with some software that was the definition of feature creep, a word reading program that requires openGL2, a massive burden for something that barely uses graphics but makes it undeployable on anything not built for gaming despite how powerful the CPU it (i7). DX does degrade much better and should work allrightish and at least the acceleration was needed to start with. I'd just pull the requirements off the MSI and hope that the CPU can keep up. With OpenGL you can uyse MESA but that has ''TERRIBLE'' performance on a high end CPU. Remote FX via a hyper-V server is probably the best bet, even if that does add an extra $1000 on to a $20k project to get going.

Or do a quick upgrade to Exchange 2010 then use that to push all the mailboxes to o365, probably cheaper and quicker in the long run, just need a meaty workstation to house an temporary install of the latest version of 2010.

As some of you may have noticed my posts may have included more spelling and grammar errors than usual, I am blaming the tools. My MS Wireless Keyboard 700 is junk and misses or duplicates characters at random if non within 5cm of the receiver. Suggestions: What is a good wireless keyboard and mouse combo that will work with a fast typing speed and a range of three or so meters. Extra points for backlit and integrated touchpad. I have yet to find a wireless keyboard that is not terrible. Has anyone else found a decent one?

Have you tried to use something like disk2vhd instead or System centre virtual machine manager to convert it in order to strip any platform specific drivers from it. Server 2003 is ancient and hyper-V only supports SP2 and above as at 2k8, maybe not even that anymore. Look to use a conversion tool and eve better look to upgrade it to something that does not run on steam if a all possible.

Have you updated the drivers to the latest, dodgy drivers crash out the spooler and make the whole lot disappear. Try restarting the spooler service, if they come bad it is probably a spoiler crash, probably because of universally bad printer drivers.

Indeed, that was a bunch of the update as it was needed to target the 1gb platforms, the memory use in comparison to 7 is insanely lower, even rtm 8 used something like 45% less when viewing a bunch of web pages and having a word document open. There were also massive improvements in parallel service spin up and shutdowns are actually partial suspends where it hibernates services and the like to spin them up instantly on boot.

I know you will hate this answer but Windows 8 may work better, it is way more memory efficient and should run considerably better on the hardware than Windows 7. I think there are rumors that 8.12 will have the start crutch back also to wind down on the irrational hate. That will also run everything, probably even the 16bit hash that is still kicking about as you'd probably have to run the 32bit version depending on the CPU. They continue to improve the 8 memory stuff to, the next gen cheaper W8 tablets will be ale t be speced with 1GB and a 32gb SSD but it runs faster than 7 on a spinning disk too.

Have you used the vendor drivers for the pc, some vendors customise the hardware so generic drivers won't work.

Not that I can make it this year but an extended event makes the trip much more palatable.

Only worth it if you cant use a standard touchpad, I manage fine on my hp so $300 is a lot for something I can already do. I have used a MacBook touchpad to for comparison before you ask.

To follow up, our 5412 only played up the once and with next day lifetime warranty we had a new management controller the next day for free. It is insanely expandable and fast. Just pointing out that it is not entirely bulletproof. If it was a case of having the 5400 series again due to budget or another brand/switch I would probably still go the 5400.

We have a 5412 here and it is epic... apart from when the single management controller burns out. On the plus side it is lifetime warranty and replaceable but you need to go one higher for redundant management controllers

Dedupe plus staff broadcast policy plus fire type restrictions and you may get on top of it a little in a few years.

Office 2013 pro plus seems to integrate fine with 365, as long as you have sso sorted it will pick up their username and it is a single click the first time to have it sort itself.

Well I have upgraded my Lumina 920 and it seems to be going fine, lightens the screen colours a bit but other than that a decent release. Who knows when it hits general release maybe we can even get an edugeek app for it.
