  2. Will send you a PM with the one I have
  3. Clarification would be good for me too. We do it by users too. We allow them to download it onto whatever they want, but it does check that they are a valid user for our organisation. If not, it'll just block their login and close the application. It also only allows logins on two concurrent devices. So the whole family can't use it at once
  4. Fix taking longer that they expected :-)
  5. It's for their work computer. I don't want to block their phones. Can get into all sorts of trouble. Luckily, the mobile signal around the school is terrible. Especially in our office. Thank you for this. Looks to have done the trick.
  6. Sorry, still a bit of a noob with Smoothwall. I've setup the location for the IP, but can't work out how to create a policy blocking it from that location. Smoothwall was already up and running before I got here. I was shown how to block/allow sites, but not how to configure anything else. Is it in one of these options? Many thanks, C
  7. Good morning All, Really hope you can help. I have a new technician who is of the 'always on social media' age. I'm about to have a word with them regarding the amount of time they spend on Facebook, or more accurately, Messenger. It is banned for everyone in the school (students, staff, admin, SLT, etc) except for us two. If it comes to it, is there a way of blocking Facebook/Messenger in Smoothwall by IP address? So I can block access from their office computer. I'm not a Smoothwall expert and have recently taken over the NM role. I assume that our sysadmin accounts are added to an exemption group. I would like them to still have full access to the internet (research and downloading drivers, etc) but no access to Facebook/Messenger. Is this possible? Thanks for reading, C
  8. Tried Big Sur and Monterey. It broke folder redirection and was way too slow to use (5-10 min logins).
  9. Thank you for your help guys. Found out why Logic wouldn't install. It was being blocked by our Smoothwall. Opened up the IP address, BOOM! Downloaded straight away. Tried Big Sur and Monterey, but logins were too slow and it broke folder redirection. So went back to Mojave for now. May try Catalina one day soon.
  10. Welcome to the group of 'I'm not a Mac person, but I'm supposed to know all about them' I'm in the same boat. Recently taken over a school with two Mac Suites (one for Creative Arts & one for Performing Arts). Got issues with our Logic Pro X software Do you have info for your school Apple ID? Do you know if the school has setup Apple School Manager? There, you'll find what apps the school has purchased.
  11. Hi All, Sorry, but I'm not a Mac person :-( Please go gentle on me. I've recently taken over a school network and I'm having issues with the Music Department's class of iMacs. They have Mojave as the OS. We use Jamf as out MDM. We've recently had to re-install several iMacs with our copy of Mojave, but now Logic Pro x doesn't want to install. I've even tried sticking it in the Self-Service, but it keeps failing. What mac-os can Logic Pro x 10.5.1 run on? We have 32 licenses for Logic Pro x Also, are we able to upgrade the mac-os and Logic Pro x to the latest versions, without costing anything? If so, then upgrading to all new versions may be the way to go. Thanks for reading, C
  12. Good afternoon all, Does anyone know how to set the default settings for the Meeting Options when using the 'Meet Now' function in Teams? I want them to be all off as in the screen shot below. So that the teacher doesn't have to change them every time. Many thanks, C
  13. We're getting the same issue too. We had 15 MX286 screens installed over the summer. I did some Googling and found HDMI has 3 Categories. Category 1 - Standard (1080i 720p), Category 2 - High Speed (1080p 4K) and Category 3 - High Speed (8K) The HDMI cables that we have purchased to go from faceplate to PC are 1m-2m Cat3 HDMI. I contacted the reseller and all the boards were fitted with 5m HDMI. Most of which have turned out to be Cat 1. Smart recommend that only a 3m HDMI cable is used from the screen to the PC. This is very unlikely in a classroom environment. I have arranged for the installers to come back in to (hopefully) swap out the Cat 1 cables to Cat 3
  14. School Cloud here. Fantastic piece of software

  16. They announced that it's going to be called Windows 11. Then froze. I'm just getting their new 'Wheel of Death'

  18. Thank you for the help. We've noticed our Smoothwall needs an update. So will do that overnight. If there is still an issue we'll contact SWGfL in the morning.
  19. Our ISP has us as UK. It's because BBC have changed something and we're behind a proxy, it doesn't like it. We think the BBC are clamping down on being able to view content from different countries, via a VPN Anybody got a suggestion how to get around this?
  20. Good morning everyone, Just had a teacher tell us that they are having issues with the BBC iPlayer. It's telling them that it thinks we're outside the UK. I've tested on my PC and get the same. Is anyone else getting this too? We can't disable our proxy, for obvious reasons
  21. We're going to recall all of the laptops. Image them with our school Windows image and install our monitor Smoothwall client. Then use Direct Access for the ones going back out to the students. That way, it uses our onsite Smoothwall filtering and our Smoothwall Monitor safeguarding software.
