  1. At the moment they are Word documents, duplex, black and white (very few staff reporting slow downs though .. but I’m sure it happens ) I changed print processor to winprint RAW and thought that solved it, until one teacher reported slow down this evening when printing duplex (26 copies of 2 page documents) ... I was thinking of using UFR 2 canon drivers instead of Canon PCL6 generic but I think Papercut recommends not using UFR 2
  2. Hi all Just working my way methodically to tackle a very intermittent PaperCut printing issue (MF 19.1) Running on Server 2019, spec at end of post, brand new hardware and VM (1 x 500GB Gen2 VDMX running Win 2019 and PAperCut, no other roles) Copiers are Canon iR-ADV C5560 III, latest Generic PCL6 drivers, all Windows driver settings as recommended (TCP/IP Port, Winprint RAW, advanced printing features and Bi directional off) Follow Me print queue all recommended settings (printer people checked this through) Brand new HP 5412 Core and HP JG962A series edge switches, 10 Gb fibre to edge cabinets Very occasionally (not at busy times strangly) for example, when a user sends a 30 copies of Duplex Black and White, it takes 10 seconds say per copy to come out? Sods law I jump on every copier and it prints fine, and day to day (we only went live Monday though) its all quiet and happy, otherwise staff would have screamed if it happened all the time I have Canon iR-ADV C6565 III high speed black and white copier I can test tomorrow (so far compliants are from 5560 III Colour model.) Now, if a user released the print job on the copier, and the printer starts printing the first page and slow every page thereafter (This is 30 copies of the same document by the way), where is the bottle neck at? Would that be the Copier itself or PaperCut server trying to spool each duplex page to the Copier queue? Is the server HDD an bottle neck? (I did spec Tier storage with 3.2 TB SSD so should be ok?) Is there particular settings you folks do to tune the network card, virus scanning etc? The Hyper V Host connects to the Core on 10GBe Any advice appreciated! 3. No worries! Also, it throws up an application error if no printers were mapped be it a network issue etc when you select print.. I will try and get a screenshot for you, again if a printer is properly mapped its no issue, FYI
  4. Thanks guys, you are awesome! I ended up waiting a few hours last night and flipped SIMS SQL to Mutli useer mode in SQL Studio all ok for the morning!
  5. Hi I think I got to the bottom of this you need to apply this Framework Patch .. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4486553/march-1-2019-kb4486553 After that the Print dialogue appears without errors... I will give more feedback if needed next week, since the exam stuff is going to have a good play (they want this to replace old Exampad and Word 2016..so far it looks great!
  6. Hi Just testing the new install on our laptops, great looking package! I have an issue though, when I invoke the print icon, it crashes with this error: We are using Windows LTSC 2018 many thanks!
  7. I will wait a bit longer, I think I could either run the ALTER DATABASE command or go into the SIMS DB properties and drop it down to Mutli User under 'Restricted Access' Lets wait for the rollback complete before I try it!
  8. Hi I think a patch done out of hours by my support company has failed and keft the SQL DB in single user mode. In SOLUS 3 it says tolerance not met for target SIMS database, deployment stopping (looks like for nearly an hour) Does the Database roll back in time and return the DB to mutli user mode, or if not can I run a command manually in SQL studio to do this, for morning registration? Can't get hold of said company out of hours, so want to avoid early morning registration panic! Thanks as always!
  9. Failing that do it the old fashion way ... depending on how many printers you got, unplug them one by one and narrow it down to see if it a printer causing it, and check if any other devices are plugged into that VLAN
  10. Hi all Have anyone figured a way to disable pop up notifications via GPO? It seems you can disable action centre via GPO but useless since it still pops up with features / app installed info etc We have exam laptops we were hoping to disable pop ups so won’t distract students ...only way at the moment is to disable via toggle switches in notifications area Thanks as always
  11. I’m getting very concerned here with Schools Broadband long term, I normally try to keep quiet on public forums but there are so many issues with the filter, plus NOC team still haven’t had our backup line working and tested since August, The test capture portal they promised to setup for BYOD for 3 weeks doesn’t work, daily issues with filter to the point I stop calling in because either first line team can’t get onto the portal either or they are not sure what’s going on...they do jump in once we post in forums or I complain to account manager via email, then they promised it will be fixed but to be honest nothing gets resolved. I went to Schools Broadband because we had below average service from my previous ISP... Senior management is asking me possible option of legal advice to terminate our contract earlier... it just shouldn’t come to this!
  12. Hi How do folks build VMs these days? I'm migrating to Windows server 2019 VM host, and at the moment building Gen 2 servers to replace ageing Windows 2008 R2 VMs I used to build fixed hard drives for C: (OS) and D: (Server apps / logs / data) Do you still follow this now? OR do you just have a C: drive / Dynamic Expanding? I'm think in terms of storage space and performance in the production LAN, and fact recovery and backup of VMs are quite easy now, so maybe separating OS is unnecessary? cheers!
  13. Hi, only because the Copier people recommended it, we have approx 1500 users on board...
  14. Hi all Planning to build a Windows 2019 server running latest PaperCut before Christmas. Have folks ran this setup ok? Was thinking of using SQL Express 2016 as the DB Any tips or best practice? Thanks!
  15. Having issues accessing Netsweeper console today, extremely slow and times out..
  16. Same here, since last night!
  17. ok figured out the CN=Netsweeper settings, thats the user we create and assign to connect from AD > Netsweeper .. so just how the user was named when the filter was setup... So, I can't see any logs or settings in Sync that would point me to where its going wrong though...
  18. Hi For 2 days so far I have experienced WAgent error that says: Could not assign group by configured rule, there is no defualt default agent set Which has caused the whole school to revert to Student filtering We have 2 sites (Primary and my secondary school) liked to Netsweeper and from what I gathered SBB advised the support company at the primary school to seperate the filtering groups between primary users and secondary users so seperate rules could be applied but this was done without my knowledge! Cut a long story short Primary site works fine and my site does not. I have requested SBB to revert all settings back to as it was, first line support is not sure what the issue is and I myself is trying to understand how Netsweeper / WAgent works to communicate to see if there's anything my side.. as far as I know we updated our Wildcard SSL for our domain services (Activesync, remote access etc), would LDAP be effected by an expired SSL cert that would make WAgent stop working? (in case its a co-incidence and not SBB changing group settings?) Also looking at my Sync settings on Netsweeper the directory settings differ: One goes to CN=Fortigate and mine goes to CN=Netsweeper .. I wonder why there is a difference? Any advice greatly appreicated!
  19. Hi Just a heads up, my school is getting this error on Wgent as of this morning: Could not assign group by configured rule, there is no defualt default agent set Looks like everyone is getting student level filtering....
  20. Brill, thanks for that ! That’s good news it’s possible, can’t find any good docs anywhere !
  21. @SchoolsBroadband Thanks for the update Sorry slightly off topic, who do I contact at higher level in terms of implementation team ? We have been chasing up SBB to run an acceptance test for the backup line since August and have heard nothing .. also struggling to get advice on how to integrate our Unifi / NPS server radius to Netsweeper ... we’ve again asked for callback since August and had nothing. If you can lead me to the right channel to speed this up I would be most grateful ...
  22. Same here, helpdesk promised patch that will fix this for good next week .. hope they succeed... these few weeks have been challenging and staff haven’t been impressed with us switching over to SBB ...
  23. Hi all I'm hoping to build a Server 2019 with Print role and to eventually run PaperCut Any gotchas in terms of drivers and setup etc? Copier / printing fleet we have: Konica Bizhub C554e Bizhub 363 Canon iR-ADV 6565 III iR ADV C5550i HP Some really old hp LaserJet 4250 Thanks as always!
  24. Thanks, will do The other thing I don’t know whether you are aware of is the way YouTube can be blocked has also changed recently, as in it still blocked if you unblock the category (streaming media) - this previously ran ok, and now flagging YouTube as mixed content / social networking category .. now we can add YouTube URL into the whitelist as an alternative method but on testing this it allowed students to access adult content ... Have logged call and awaiting solution
  25. Have logged a call, they are investigating
