  1. Hi all I have upgraded from 5210 to 7065 over summer I have this weird issue on Windows 7 machines whereby it now defaults to the 'other user' login screen .. I have rebooted all the machines and they still return to the default 'other user' screen.. any ideas? screen attached... thanks all!
  2. Great stuff guys, yes I myself is trying to ween them away from the traditional mapped drive attachment ways and try the share docs, realtime update way of working. Quite a hard sell to the old school thinking whwre they need to navigate through many folders to find things to open or attach. It would be nice though for MS to have an easy way of getting to SharePoint online to attach things like PDFs, jpegs ..
  3. Would love your opinion/advice on this... Currently trying to look at least painful way to migrate staff to full office 365. The main bugbear is handling of attachments for files stored on SharePoint online drives... I have used webdev to map drives to make it easier but I’m concerned this is not officially supported by ms long term, and it’s not 100 percent reliable .. What methods are you guys using to tackle this and have you been successful ? I’m looking at packages such as this as a possible workaround .. https://www.oneplacesolutions.com/oneplacemail.html Thanks as always Wil
  4. @Cache Thanks ! What you suggested did the trick !

  6. I have noticed in the error log it's trying to update SOLUS 3 on an old SIM server name however (which was migrated by Capita a few years ago, can't seem to remove it from SOLUS 3 GUI since apparently it's still tied to the SOLUS 3 interface. Could this be the issue with tolerance error? 2018-08-05 08:47:05.6238|*** 2018-08-05 08:47:05.6238|*** Deploying Solus 3 - 3.11.61 to Solus 3 GUI (64Bit) targets at SOLUS3 System (99999999-9999999) 2018-08-05 08:47:05.6238|*** 2018-08-05 08:47:05.6348|ds|Info|1 agent target(s) found for Solus 3 GUI at site SOLUS3 System.|SetAgentTargetsForThisDeployment() 2018-08-05 08:47:05.6468|srv-sims01|Info|Target version 3.9.0.18, expected target version 3.11.61.2, update will be deployed|ProcessAgentTargets() 2018-08-05 08:47:05.6498|srv-sims01|Info|Attempting wake on lan.|AgentIsAvailable() 2018-08-05 08:47:55.6537|ds|Info|Waiting for target Solus 3 GUI to complete deployment for 1 sites 99999999-9999-9999-9999-999999999999|BackgroundWorkerDoWork() 2018-08-05 08:48:55.7138|ds|Info|Waiting for target Solus 3 GUI to complete deployment for 1 sites 99999999-9999-9999-9999-999999999999|BackgroundWorkerDoWork() 2018-08-05 08:49:55.8090|ds|Info|Waiting for target Solus 3 GUI to complete deployment for 1 sites 99999999-9999-9999-9999-999999999999|BackgroundWorkerDoWork() 2018-08-05 08:50:55.9043|ds|Info|Waiting for target Solus 3 GUI to complete deployment for 1 sites 99999999-9999-9999-9999-999999999999|BackgroundWorkerDoWork() 2018-08-05 08:51:55.9999|ds|Info|Waiting for target Solus 3 GUI to complete deployment for 1 sites 99999999-9999-9999-9999-999999999999|BackgroundWorkerDoWork() 2018-08-05 08:52:06.1721|srv-sims01|Info|Wake on lan failed.|AgentIsAvailable() 2018-08-05 08:52:16.2037|ds|Info|Deployment to site SOLUS3 System (99999999-9999-9999-9999-999999999999) has been completed.|RunInternal() 2018-08-05 08:52:16.2037|ds|Info|Deployment plan has failed to install at site SOLUS3 System 99999999-9999999|RunInternal() 2018-08-05 08:52:26.0391|*** 2018-08-05 08:52:26.0391|*** Checking tolerance for Solus 3 GUI (64Bit) targets 2018-08-05 08:52:26.0391|*** 2018-08-05 08:52:26.0391|ds|Info|Site count: 1, no failed site deployments: 1, required tolerance: 100, calculated tolerance: 0, tolerance passed: False|CheckTolerance() 2018-08-05 08:52:26.0391|ds|Info|Tolerance not met for target Solus 3 GUI, deployment stopping.|CheckTolerance()
  7. It does seem a bit dodgy indeed, overnight it did do 70 plus machines then the deployment failed flagging up a database tolerance error I started a new deployment, it attempted about 4 machines then fell over again with the same error I have attached an error log, any ideas? cheers! Wil solus 3 error.txt
  8. Jesus, looks like it is updating the agents but at a really slow pace, did another 5 in over an hour, will wait overnight ...
  9. Hi all Having a bit of an issue upgrading to Solus 3.11 The plan was to go from 3.9 to 3.11 then to 3.12 I updated to Solus 3.11, initially seemed successful but noe only 4 machines have updated to 3.11 and it looks like Solus 3 just sits there now saying in progress. The Solus 3 deployment UI still has version 3.9 on the top of the info bar. It has now sat there for 1 hour with only 4 machines updated. I have turned Solus 3 off and on via UI .. no effect Any ideas? Just anxious there’s an issue with updating since I might need to patch things for exam results .. Thanks as always! Wil
  10. yesterday Hi all im not sure whether it’s the recommended way of doing this but I have 2 PCs running AIrvision software 3.9.7 these PC (well mini servers) have dual NICs so one connects to my main LAN and the other again the main LAN but on a different subnet. Both Servers are on Windows AD. So the 10.18.96.x is where I access Airvision web console and some cameras are on 200.10.0.x... I have a few cameras that are on the 10.18.96.x address and I would like to migrate them to the other subnet. please note it’s not segregated VLAN for now I haven’t got round to doing this yet. now I put 4 x G3 that are new with 200.10.0.x IP address and Airvision adopted them perfectly .. gaining confidence I tried to migrate an existing G3 to 200.10.0.x from 10.18.96.x address and it won’t adopt but stuck on status : managing ... i tried.. reseting G3 back to factory - no joy maually adding the server IP address directly on the G3 - no joy maually adding adoption token on the G3 - no joy it does seem to be a subnet problem because if I revert this old G3 back to original subnet it gets adopted no issues.. whats driving me mad is how come I setup 4 new G3 cameras with 200.10.0.x address and it has been adopted fine and managed and recording with Airvision on 10.18.96.x perfectly fine or weeks? any ideas? thanks!
  11. Hi all Having doubts about WebDAV drive mapping for OneDrive and SharePoint online we have decided to have a phase one rollout test of moving some departments data into SharePoint online and users accessing everything through 365 web page. Although OneDrive integration is quite nice I’m having difficulty finding out how you can attach SharePoint site files straight from Outlook OWA ? Seems you can only attach from OneDrive or groups ? Anyone else have this issue ? PS I seem to have the same issue with outlook 2016 clients too, other web location option only shows OneDrive ...
  12. I'm also looking at this for my school, we have Promethean IWB with Epsom projectors and prices for replacement is almost the cost of a touchscreen (although they are bigger in size The teachers use Activeinspire software as well, whats the licencing arrangement if I went for a different brand of touchpanel? and would a drop of screen size from a 84 inch interactive whiteboard vs 70 inch touhcpanel be jarring?
  13. Pleased (or not pleased!) that there was no egg and flour pranks today but a student managed to create a folder in the root of all my hidden shares with a text file (but it was a lovely goodbye message to the teachers)first time this ever happened on my watch.. Is he running off some drive scanning program that can see hidden shares? and worryingly write to it? So far that's it, no more pranks or panic (at the moment!)
  14. Cheers guys! Have now installed SQL 2016 and add on management studio Copied SIMSHARE and DOCSTORAGE folders across Silly Question where do I find the latest executables for SOLUS 3, SIMS.net etc? Thanks as always
  15. Hi I’m planning to build a server 2016 VM and running SQL 2016 running SIMS for testing and training for the team, hoping to be more self sufficient. At present we are running a 2012r2 / SQL 2012 SIMS Live in production.. It’s been years since I built a second sims from scratch..is the principle still the same? Install SQL Install SIMS client / server Copy simshare over DB attach backup I remember so long as the connect.ini file points to the test server for PCs intended for testing, the live and test sims serve can co exist quite happily ? Thanks as always
  16. Hi all; We are in the stages of migrating most of our departmental data and Home drives onto Azure. We are using a WebDav application to map drives in Explorer to make staff feel comfortable using the system as they know and love. I'm aware that transferring NTFS permission folders and files to SharePoint Online actually flattens all the security so cant have nested permissions like NTFS How are you changing or adapting to security for folders if you are transitioning to SharePoint? Cheers! wil
  17. Thanks all! Just trying to gather some viewpoints for a healthy discussion with our Bursar, which historically our school has insisted on buying Copiers outright and then paying for a 5 year tomer and maintenance contract... the culture is totally against leasing but I see pros and cons of each..
  18. Yes, Im wondering whether I've designed this the wrong way... I have setup resource mailbox in Office 365 (ie Room-10 Room-25) and salamander is syncing the timetable with it, however I get permission issues trying to view the relevant calendars and no where I can see permission options in the admin portal?
  19. hi sorry to bump the thread... Still trying to get my head round Time table booking. Salamander has sync timed table rooms to sync with outlook 365, I have created these in Exchange admin (we run a hybrid setup) as Resource mailboxes. I am getting an error when trying to book a room : "You don't have permission to create an entry in this folder..." Because it's a resource mailbox I could not find a section in Exchange admin 365 to assign users permission Any advice? thanks !
  20. Hi all For Copier contracts, do you lease? Or buy outright and pay for toner and maintenance contract? What’s your Bursar’s thoughts on this? Cheers!
  21. Hi all; Anyone looked into applying for JANET? Looks to be a great option for schools in terms of speed? Cheers!
  22. Brilliant! Do the staff book rooms via meeting function in Outlook? I do see a calendar of timetables for ICT rooms in 365 now which is great! Do staff complain at all that Outlook dont represent time slots in periods ? (only as time slots) cheers!
  23. Hi all I have just had Salamander installed in my school, pretty powerful bit of software. Part of this is to transfer timetable from SIMS so staff and student can book rooms and resources etc. I have done some work with this and created resource mailboxes and rooms in 365 that syncs with SIMS I hop that the staff will book iPads or Rooms through Outlook like they do with booking meetings in Outlook at present. Is this the best way forward? Any feedback with folks who have done this? Are staff happy using it? We are replacing our Frog VLE with this in the near future. Thanks!
  24. good to know, they work well with HP / Netgear core switches and VLANS / Trunking ?
  25. I've had a bit of performance issues with my Netgear switches in terms of throughput and we are running UniFi/airvision cameras also. We are going to go full Office 365 and mapped SharePoint drives and looking into tweaking things as fast as possible.
