Before the fire i had HP. It was ok, did what it needed to...kinda....but me being a newbie to managed wireless felt i needed a qualification to managed the blooming thing! Had fire, Ruckus installed at Hogwarts and its done the job nicely even in this old rickety building. Nice interface. It's coming back with us (with extra AP's as they have pretty much made the classrooms that were repaired into Faraday cages!).

How much bandwidth does a VPN connection use? Here at Hogwarts we had a bog standard broadband line put in for admin staff so they could vpn into school and still use SIMS etc. We've just recieved a letter from them saying that they are no longer using a fair usage policy and are going to give us 50GB a month and then charge us more after that. Would that be ok for what we do?

A school in our cluster has sent out an email asking for some help finding a tech to replace one they are about to loose. My head has asked me to send the feelers out. They have said half a day per week but that may only be if they were leasing from another school. PM me if you would like to know more info as i dont want to post specifics here without their permission.

I didnt think they were mandatory with a the government? As some of you know my head has been keen to have a VLE put in place so will be interested to see the outcome of this survey as i dont feel after all the time and money that will be spent on it that it will get used!

Aaah! We understand now. See SIMS isnt really used to its full potential here at the moment (electronic registration hasnt been running that long for us!) so bit by bit we're learning. Thanks guys!

When the office manager tries to print letters for kids with attendance under 90% say, she gets a massive list of kids (some of them have certain circumstances so we know why etc) So for this example i did year 6 with less then 90 and got 45 kids. Then there is what appears to be the option to select the children you want to generate the letters for but even when she does that she still gets a letter created for every child on that list. Are we missing something?!

Did they change the form recently? I told them to as it made no sense! lol Ive only just been able to use my iPad over https:// sites, i mentioned this a while back now. But they've sorted it.

Hiya, My fella is 30 in May so am trying to think of a good pressie for him. The idea im currently toying with is some sort of car experience. Ive been looking at the ones where you get to do some laps in an epic car, has anyone done one of those? Any good? Also is there any sort of rally thing joe public can do or is that just to risky so they dont? Dunno if you saw Top Gear last night but he said the rally bit would be "awesome". Anyone been go-karting? Is that any good? We live in Brum and i dont drive so dont want him to have to drive for miles. Thanks!

I've been playing with the free version on there and have noticed its only picking up a few of the print jobs, when im sat next to the printer and know full well whats coming out!

Learning platforms for Primary Schools | eSchools Anyone had any experience of it? Just waiting for my free trial to be setup.

My Head is still quite keen to get a VLE up and running, only if it is small to start off with. We have things like WriteOnline, MyMaths and Linguascope but would like a way to tie them all together other then our website. He is very keen on personalised learning/independant learning/learning outside the classroom (all those buzz words), and likes the idea of small secure forums were kids can work with each other on questions etc... Has a school out there (preferably primary) had much success with a VLE/Moodle. What do you have to offer on it? Also, are there any decent Themes out there which would be suitable for a primary school? Thanks
